If you're using a dual-core Intel system and pulling your hair out at the crash/freeze before the menu, forum member wolfman2k has found a solution.

It's worked on at least 5 people's machines in the last 10 minutes.

Download and install these Intel drivers:

https://downloadcent...x?DwnldID=24329

They are not the ones the Intel Update utility recommends, nor the newset, nor the ones that Windows Updates recommends.

BUT THEY WORK! I'm in and playing! Good luck!

Just as a follow up.

I'm now 10 hours in, and all is still working fine with these older drivers and dualcore - not a single crash.

I should add I'm doing this on a Macbook Air via bootcamp... most settings on low, but it's perfectly playable.

Not everyone can afford quad cores, because not everyone is rich ans can spend thousands on super computers like you obviously can.

When I try to install the drivers I get a message that my system does not meet the requirements for them.

The following is my processor according to dxdiag:

Pentium® Dual Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60 GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz

I think this is it:

What is the issue here? Is my processor simply too old? It is a bit ridiculous as I am able to run Shadow of Mordor on high graphical settings with no issues. Inquisition can't be much more advanced than a month old game.

Are you using Windows XP? Also, I don't see your CPU listed there. Sorry, but that CPU is just very old..

Btw, Frostbite Engine isn't very optimized, it never was and never will, I guess.

I am using Windows 7. I have been considering upgrading my CPU for a while, but I lack funds and this is the first game I have had any trouble running at all.

Same for me. I've been able to run other games pretty well. Not this one.

I wish someone would find a solution for people with AMD dual cores.

(For anyone willing to try) I also heard running the game in Windows 7 compatibility mode can help people with dual cores. I'll try that. If all else fails, I may just have save up for something with quad cores.

Those drivers will (i believe) only install if you have onboard video built into your motherboard (not something anyone who plays games would ever use) as well as a dedicated video card which they'll need to actually play the game worth a damn.

Exactly what CPU are you using?

I think you overestimate how expensive a computer with a quad-core processor is? My $349 laptop has one and runs Inquisition -- on low settings and with lots of loading, mind, but that's what I was expecting.

Just an update (for the curious, I suppose).

Windows 7 compatibility mode actually made the game run smoother but I still faced eventual black screen death. Much as expected. Time to go buy a better rig.

Intel Core i5 4250U 1.3 GHz (and yes, with HD 5000 integrated graphics). It has hyperthreading, which I think is the critical thing here.

It's a actually a Macbook Air on Bootcamp. It runs just fine on a mix of medium and low. Daft loading times though (sometimes three or four minutes), because it's stressing out the CPU (it's a SSD, and that's not helping when the CPU gets to 95% usage).

This tip work fine for Intel Dual Core with integrated HD graphics cpu. I assume than simulate an artificial quad-core that can lure the game.

For me, with a E8500 dual core cpu, it's not working.

It's very annoying, especially when other Frostbite 3 powered game support dual core... <_<

So yes, my machine is old but it works good before.
