DA:I is a frigging hot mess. At least for PC

I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in any of Bioware's games. Like, I can complain about DA2's combat system but it was actually enjoyable to some extent, if too flashy and swift

But this?..

First of all, the controls are terrible and no, I do not overexaggerate

In order to move a character we have to use WASD which wouldn't be a problem if it was also possible to move by mouseclicking. It applies even to a frigging combat. A character won't just move to an enemy and attack it unless we manually move her/him and then spamclick. And God help you if your target moves. Is it "Dragon Age Inquisition" or "Dragon Age Don't-you-sheep-move-oh-come-on!"? Sure, the auto-attack is still present, apparently, but for some reason it is not a default option. And God damn whose "brilliant" idea it was to make attacking possible outside of a battle? And jumping. Like, it seemed like fun at first but then, during combat, when you accidentaly push space during a pause (at least in my experience since usually space was a pause button) you have to unpause, watch your dummy jump and then pause again and only then give an order. Tactical camers is hardly helpful. In fact, it seemed like DA:I was made almost purely for consoles. Heck, I don't even find Skyrim's UI all that uncomfortable and even it was much more PC-friendly

Then the graphics looks pretty bad unless you choose high setting and even my quite upgraded PC still overheats if I choose pretty picture. Also, why is some dialogues with NPCs (without zooming in) are so... buggy? Varric almost drowned in ground and then started jiggering. I mean, sure, he and my Adaar don't really get along, but seriously, dwarf, put yourself together

Plus a small detail which isn't Bioware's fault, I guess, is that in my case I can't even choose english subtitles unless I do some voodoo magic with gamefiles because of this ridicilously stupid region language lock

And according to other folk there are even more bugs in the game which I was lucky not to encounter

Bioware, darling, I love your stories, I love your games, I like your devs and your input in this crazy industry, but please - do something. I want to enjoy the game, I want to play it but how can I do it if most of the time I have to fight the controls instead of the enemies?

Why do I have the increasing impression that some people never played any other games than DAO and DA2 in their life?

The game is more actiony yeah... playing a mage or an archer is a lot better then melee when it comes to combat...

So I guess this is when every single forum poster makes a new thread for something that already has a thread (or four) going.

I actually prefer melee right now (I tried all the classes last night).

Why do I have the increasing impression that some people never played any other games than DAO and DA2 in their life?

Because waiting from a game called DA:I (which is a predecessor to DA:o and DA:2 and was made by the same company, btw) similiar controls is madness, isn't it?

Heck, I've played in enough not-Bioware-made RPGs and I don't recall ever being so frustrated with controls before

Also, a personal attack and complete disregard to other peple's problems. You have no problems - great for you. But don't judge people for expecting an actually good and enjoyable gameplay

First of all, he had a legitimate question that he asked you.   Second, it wasn't a personal attack, not by Bioware's TOS or by anyone else who has basic reading comprehension.

People seem to love throwing around the "personal attack" gala.

Well. Remap jump to control then? As pause is control.

If the enemy moves. You follow them. Companions do attack someone you've attacked.

Whats wrong with attacking out of battle? You can attack random little animals and have your whole team Over kill them

True, that's annoying. You have to use TacCam for that sadly. Probably my largest complain right now.

Does holding R work for you? When in ranged combat, when you select an enemy (right click) and hold R, you'll 'autoattack' him, and never shot in the air for example. I haven't tested it for melee attacks as of yet though.

And God damn whose "brilliant" idea it was to make attacking possible outside of a battle?

I don't see how that's broken. I mean, it's useless, but not broken.

And jumping. Like, it seemed like fun at first but then, during combat, when you accidentaly push space during a pause (at least in my experience since usually space was a pause button) you have to unpause, watch your dummy jump and then pause again and only then give an order.

Rebind keys? I have jump under Ctrl and pause under Space. Works like a charm.

Then the graphics looks pretty bad unless you choose high setting

On my High/Ultra mix they look simply amazing. And I run a GTX 660, which is hardly a top-shelf card.

I guess I'll do this

I play with a keyboard and a mouse and the PC doesn't move fast enough so it's just bothersome. Why did they remove mousecliking movement, again? It worked perfectly in DA:O and DA2. Why break sth which isn't broken?

Because occasionaly I use the wrong button and instead of talking to a NPC or looting things I make holes in Solas or Varric or just attack the air. It's really annoying

Well. You could remap it further away. Then just use LMB

I found clicking to move cumbersome in DA:O.

Why R? Why not the mouse as it was before? I don't get it. Spamclicking just isn't good enough for such kind of gameplay like DA:I has

Again, I often misclick and instead of looting things attack the air or vice versa. I get I can get used to it, but it's pretty bizarre

Er, so what? I complained about low-medium setting. I guess I mostly mean hair and beards etc. They just look plain horrible

I agree KB+Mouse is a mess, I remapped but still it didn't feel right.

My solution take my 360 controller and plugged in to the PC, now I'm enjoying this game.

Check your settings and make sure the mesh tessellation is set to High or Ultra and I've heard that gets rid of the sheeny hairdoos.

If PC's game PC controls are so bad it's easier to not use them at all, there is something really wrong

'Sides I don't have any 360 controller. I didn't buy this game to play a pseduo 360-version. If I wanted that I'd just buy 360 or PS4

As far as the combat mechanics, which seems to be the biggest issue people have, it's obviously different from both DA: Origins and DA2. It's always been different. It's always been said that it's different. It's a completely new and different combat system and it's been advertised as only that with elements of the previous two games folded in. It took me a while to get used to and until I did, I didn't really like it very much, but as soon as I figured it out, it plays very well.

I don't have the game for PC, because I only have a laptop and try to avoid gaming on it as much as possible, but while you can remap keys and such to your liking, I think it is a completely legitimate argument to be annoyed by poor control optimization. However, being upset because combat isn't like how it was five years ago is something you're just going to have to come to terms with, because it isn't and likely will never be again.

I don't demand DA:O2 with pretty graphics. But if the combat is too clunky and too different to the point that it feels like a game of another developer I'm going to be legitimately upset. Especially the part about clunky, I had to pick the easiest difficult just because the battles were not fun at all but bothersome and frankly annoying

I played a few hours on the PC and have no problem at all. Although I'm using a xbox controller so I don't know how the controls are.

People said Dark souls 1 was best played with a controller because Mouse and keyboard was a hot mess. I did fine...I'll do fine with this too.
