I don't understand why Bioware took away the close up of the faces during conversations, but whatever. This is actually about a complete inability to see anything at all during one.
If your camera is zoomed out too far, you will end up staring at a corner, a bit of scenery, or an NPC for the entire conversation, and you cannot move the camera. That's bad. You should be able to zoom and spin the camera during conversations so as to avoid staring at the back of someone's head while trying to talk to someone. Or, at least, reset the zoom when a conversation starts so it looks like you probably meant it too, then zoom it back out afterwards.
Also, ambient sound. Ambient sound should be turned way, way down at the start of a conversation. Talking to Cullen or Cassandra is painful.
