Is Hawke's Gender Right?

Did you make the exact same choices as your previous world state?

When it comes to heroes gender/class and such yeah i might have had a couple different dragon age 2 decisions in act 1-3 since since i never played the game and just chose whatever the first time.

I see what you are talking about, i have 24 playthroughs all of which have default female warden and default male hawke despite loading different worldstates that i know i did correctly. Does this mean no matter what i do i have to play through the game with the default heroes? If so that is terrible.
I have no idea! But it does mean it is a lot easier for something to go wrong because they could have a screwed up switch and thus someone's male hawke becomes female or warden becomes an elf out of nowhere. A shame really.

UPDATE: So I started from scratch with my custom world and created a new Inquisitior (female human rogue), but the conversation was the same. Varric referred to Hawke as a guy when I imported a female Hawke. Oh well, guess I'll play it all out and see what happens.
I was wondering the same thing as you. My Hawke was female but Varric referred to them as a guy, I really hope that doesn't mean I need to start over to actually get my choices and world state working.

I'm having an issue with Hawke as well.
Does anyone have a pic of default femhawke in Inquisition? For mine, I put default and it didn't ask me if she had a blood smear or not. She didn't, but in Inquisition she shows up with one. And with a different hairstyle.
Sorry to kind of ride on this thread but I just got to that part and I'm kind of really iffy. : (

He is suppose to be a male Mage according to canon.
That shouldn't really matter if we have the option to customize her/him in-game.

I'm guessing my world state got borked somehow even though I double checked the timestamp in the Keep when I made this inquisitor.
Puzzled by the lack of customization option, though, as I haven't seen anyone else with that problem.

What's working? The "Default" versions of the Warden and Hawke or something else. If you mean something else has anyone been able to import with their correct Warden and Hawke?

If you don't have the option to edit Hawke when you meet Hawke that means you are using a default world state and not a custom one. So your import failed for one reason or another.I also have an incorrectly male Hawke, and strangely no option to choose between default and custom Hawke when Varric introduces us.

I had Varric say the exact same thing and it has me worried. I'm continuing on for now and we will see when Hawke shows up.

I really hope my world state isn't messed up. I don't want to restart, hopefully it's just a mistake on the developer's part (referring to Varric's dialogue here, referring to a fem hawke as a guy). Really hope I don't have to restart the whole game:(

Ah, well. I'm certainly not restarting now. The Keep has been very fiddly for me anyway.

Do you remember what the line is? And when is it spoken?
It happens during your first conversation (not the one with the cutscene, it's aftwerwards when you can talk to him some more) with Varric in Haven. I don't remember the line word for word, but it's when you ask him how he and Cassandra know each other.

Same here. I got the same dialogue. I'm just going to keep playing to see if Hawke does turn into a woman. If not, oh well. I don't really have the time to replay segments of this game a second time.

I can confirm. Had the same issue with Varric but my Hawke was still a female. Glad to see it all worked out well

I have imported a world state 3 times where Hawke is a female 3 times it shows that the game I imported has a female hawke and 3 times when I get to skyhold Hawke is a male. I hate this! My Hawke is female but the keep does not import this detail! My Origins decisions were imported correctly but not my DA2 choices that I had in the same world state ![]()

I don't think it's a bug. I think he was just speaking in generalities so as to not give away who he was talking about just yet.

I don't have the time to start over, so will just continue. I hope they fix it.

I'm pretty sure when he says the 'guy responsible for the Chantry being destroyed' he means Anders, not Hawke.
