Mighty, great BioWare...

How you have fallen, how much it hurts to see you like this!

A once glorious studio with many epic titles behind them, have fallen so low, as to shamelessly shove a console port into our faces, AT THE SAME PRICE!

My last purchase of a BioWare game.

The BioWare I knew is gone.

I've yet to play DAI, and I really don't know much of how the skills and abilities work, but I would not be too upset if it were possible to play a Rogue like you could stealth play in Skyrim.

Sneaking up to enemies and backstabbing, etc

Of course, Team Hold would have to work exceptionally well. So there goes that dream....

Making party members hold position is painful, even in tactical mode they break their hold commands once a target dies and they attempt to find a new target or you have them attack another target they do not stay on hold and instead will leave their position if they can't locate them from ranged. For example putting varric on some kind of high ground and attempting to make him stay there.

The hold command overall is kind of a gimmick because of this. If you tell a companion to hold, they should hold, even when their target dies or they can't properly target something from ranged, if they're on hold, they should hold. They don't.

Some design aspects of this game just seem purely amateur and lacking proper experience by design.

While I can't entirely guarantee it will fix the problem, you can try changing the targeting behavior of the party member that usually holds a position to "defend controlled character." I did this for Cassandra, and a lot of the time she'll just sit still soaking up damage without even telling her to hold (bug?).

EDIT: misquoted, fixed

My number one issue with Dragon Age Inquistion is that I can barely zoom out at all in tactical combat. This is one thing that Bioware should patch as fast as possible because it makes the tactical combat very hard to navigate in.

I would agree with you.  The lack of KB+Mouse optimization in general is a strong second, but if the tactical view would just zoom out far enough to encompass the entire battlefield, I would be a lot happier with the game.

Oh, please. This plays nothing like Skyrim. I don't recall ever attacking the air in Skyrim because I couldn't move my character in position for a proper backstab. If you expect any kind of fluidity in terms of character control and combat you are in for a huge disappointment.

I have played every single Bioware game and loved them for the story and their combat. To my great surprise the PC controls in Inquisition turned out to be abysmal and need to be fixed in a patch asap. Instead of playing their newly released game which I expected to be doing all weekend I am here complaining on the forums. Why? Because it is just so bad!

Bioware, we need a patch and we need it now. The clunky PC controls are sucking all enjoyment out of the game for me. Until this has been fixed, I'll not play again.

i started the game using the keyboard on my pc, but it just didn't work, the tactical view is for me the only way to go, to enjoy the game. Otherwise there is no auto follow the target and no auto attack, so chasing the target and hitting it in real time in really NOT fun with the keyboard.

Problem is the tactical view is very unpractical too with keyboard.

So i bought a 360x controller, and it changed the game. it is much more intuitive now. the game was design  with controller in mind not keyboard, it is so obvious when using a controller. but that is a bad design to not fully build a system suitabled for pc controller like in da 1 and 2, in the pc version.

I play the combat scenes with the mouse and keyboard, it is slightly easier that way.  The roaming around parts I switch to my controller.  To be completely honest, it doesn't matter which system I use.  The interface just plane sucks either way.

Bioware: I've played for 6hrs. I endured the crashed, the stuttering and the random black screens. But the F***ing combat / mouse (un)control is a mess.

What the hell? Nobody tested the game? Nobody from your Alpha and Beta testers told you that the combat is buggy, messy and the PC controls simply....pathetic? Cumbersome? Lacking?

I've played most Bioware games (BG, NWN, DA:O, DA:2, ME1/2/3, SWTOR, etc) but this is one of THE worst games Bioware has made.
I've just uninstalled the game.

Jesuz, what a mess....

If EA has any control over this situation we are f*cked. There were issues like this in BF3 and BF4 where things were not bind-able or hard bound and they never patched it. Pretty sure since they have our money they don't give a sh*t.

I played DA:O and DA2 with PC controls and 360 controls and the PC controls were far superior.

DA:I, I tried PC controls for 30mins and then switched to 360 controller for the next 50 hours, which sucks because they're still inferior to DA:O's PC controls.

Thank the lord I checked this forum!

I agree totally with 99% of comments.

I tried a dagger rogue but gave up and switched to bow only. Mage was ok but keep blasting anyone in front of me when I try and walk!

Glad there is no friendly fire!

I remember posting in the forums before DA:I was released, that I hoped that Bioware was not going to make a Console to PC port.

My fears have been realised. They have to fix it or it will be the end of Bioware I think. I will go back to Baldurs Gate Enhanced!  lol

Yeah, we got a bad console port that wasn't even tested.

See this thread for a detailed explanation and demonstration video for what is broken with the camera and controls:

I think its the angle that is messing everything up, not sure who thought it was a good idea to zoom out into top-down view like hotline miami instad of standard isometric view...

1) I cannot click the ground/items and my character automatically go pick it up
2) Camera does not zoom out enough to be useful in tactical mode
3) Cannot find an option for unlocking camera to selected units when issuing commands (I know it should be there because I watched the KB&M game-play from the devs)
4) Cannot keybind to side mouse buttons.
5) Cannot drag mouse and select characters.
6) No auto-attack, unless in tactical view. (Changing the rules when in 3rd person and tactical, no longer feels like one system, but 2 awkwardly smooshed together.
7) No option to bind camera to mouse movement (w/o holding a button down).

I agree. Tactical mode is more or less useless for me due to the fact that you can't zoom out far enough. I just gives me a headache desperately moving around the (poorly controlled) camera looking for my characters and enemies on the battlefield. This really needs to be fixed! What where you thinking Bioware? When you tested the game, did you really think that having a "tactical overview" mode that actually gives the player worse overview was a good idea? Really?

The "no auto-attack" decision I will never understand. It adds nothing but annoyance. If they though it would add immersion to the combat they where thoroughly mistaken.

Cannot keybind to side mouse buttons is also annoying and needs to be fixed.

Just wanted to let everyone know you can still return the game outside its normal return window.

Managed to get a refund by contacting support directly just now. Bioware/EA doesn't deserve my money on the basis of not allowing even the basic level of PC support.

- unable to bind mouse keys

- missing bind-able action keys such as Walk, or being able to change LMB as default attck

- unable hold LMB/RMB to move forward

I'm not asking for much, just the absolute basics as far as PC gaming goes. If there is an action key it needs to be bind-able to whatever key we want.

I'll buy the game if its ever patched to allow proper PC controls. And yeah I have a 360 controller, I returned it on Principle alone...I know i'm probably one of the few people left of the planet like that lol.

Some design aspects of this game just seem purely amateur and lacking proper experience by design.

This seems to be sadly true.  As I said before, if you play on the controller or mouse/keyboard the interfaces is just as bad either way.   Another poster said that companies have a tendency to put less experinced programmers on the UI.  This might be a fine example of why that is a bad idea.

However another said that they did it this way for the multiplayer, because the multiplayer would be gimped if had auto-attack and several other things so they focused on the multiplayer without thinking that the same system might work well in single player.  Nor did they think that about the fact that multiplayer in a tactical rpg makes as muchs sense as screen doors on a submarine.

They seem to have confused DA with COD.

I find the latter far more likely.

I routinely have the game drop into the debug console (what key combo is that, cause I press it all the time when fighting) and very often find myself locked in some mode where my character is behaving as if I'm in the "tactical" view, but everyone else is moving around freely (I think that's caused by entering tactical and then pressing control).

That happens to me regularly too. I think it's the [~] key.

It happens when I try to do realtime combat (because tactical mode sucks), and I switch from mashing the [R] key to attack and hit [1] to do a special, and accidentally hit [~] instead...  Then none of my commands work anymore, and I wonder why my inquisitor isn't swinging his sword, only to realize that there's a debug console that's opened up with "rrrrrrrrr" in it. :|

They will likely give you a refund if you have a dual core CPU and the game is unplayable because of that.
