Ardris Cadash
Born roughly 9:12 on a ship off the coast of the Waking Sea
Her father is a smuggler/swordsman in the carta, a surface dwarf. Her mother was a fence for the carta, a lifelong resident of Orzzamar, dust town. Eventually after their many meetings, her father convinced her mother to leave with him to the surface, for a much better life. She accepted, the pair was married by the human chantry about three months later.
Ardris was born the following spring, on the ship, en route to the Free Marches. The pair continued to work with the carta, but settled in the city of Ostwick primarily.
Ardris is the eldest of five. A brother came a year later, then following with three more sisters. Her father is a foreward thinking man, a worshipper of the Maker, so Ardris got a nice education, was brought up to belief both Chantry worship from her surface father, an the worship of the Stone of her Orzzamar mother.
Aroun the time of the 5th Blight, her late teen's, Ardris, an her brother began life in the carta, becoming protectors of caravans. One of her sisters, while not an 'activ'e member of the carta, runs a stall in the market, but provides discounts to fellow members, also is a fence.
While by no means a master swordswoman, Ardris was tutored by many fine warriors, constantly seeking to perfect her skills in battle, while keeping her own set of morals.
In the year 9:40, at age of 28, Ardris was chosen out of list of hopefuls to attend t he Conclave. Fully expecting to only be gone a month or so. She bade her parents, her siblings farewell, looking foreward to a taste of freedom. Fate has other plans apparently.......now her real journey begins.
I hope that's not too cheesy. I have it in my head she actually has a loving family even though her family is mafia. Her parents are alive, an loving, her siblings as well. She grew up with Chantry worship, alongside her mother's Stone icons of the ancestors/paragons so she's actually a mix of both, leaning sliiightly more to Andrastism, since she never grew up in Orzzamar, she values the Stone, etc if more out of tradition than actual faith.
She has the equivilent of a high school diploma, enjoys reading books, practicing her sword skills. Has the Free March/Ostwickian accent (I use the UK one) so she doesn't come off as 'thuggish'
Her parents now in their older years, are more fences than active roles, people like her younger sisters running stalls in the market that double as fencing outposts, stuff like that.
I got it in my head that she has a very nice life. While not perfect, this is a crime family, I imagine they're just cogs in a huge machine. They have a tiny house in the Marches, her mother has a tiny garden, her father treasures the tiny library he built over the years.
On assignments, she is particularly careful to not draw her weapon in haste, trying to have some sense of honor in a type of career that is essesstionally honorless, or 'honor among theives'
I'll update more when I progress her story
