My main/'canon' Warden (a city elf dual sword-and-dagger rogue) ended up with two names, since I had been on the fence about which one to use and ended up playing the game with him as the character more than once. Officially, in my head, he's called Cyrion Zemariel Tabris, although of course each playthrough only used one of the names. Zemariel was the one I went with originally, but I realised that it didn't really fit in with the naming scheme of the elves in the Alienage at all, so I had some regrets about going with it. Therefore, when I replayed the game with him again, I chose the other name I'd been thinking of, although I switched a couple of letters to make it match his father's name (since it made more sense to me that he'd be completely named after his father rather than have the suspiciously similar name of Cirian). I make the excuse that his mother gave him a middle name after some Dalish clan or figure, rather one related to her or no.

My other Wardens have less complicated naming histories.

Senravin Mahariel was my Dalish bow-using warrior; Guennean Cousland was my human sword-and-shield warrior; Jezelda Aeducan was my dwarven sword-and-shield warrior; Narvinyel Surana was my elven mage; Bryony Cousland was my human dual-dagger rogue.

Uhh I think it was like a Dalish female elf mage named Adrianna, or something.

I like coming up with names though, especially extravagant ones like I made a templar to go all the way through Awakening named like Kallista D'Avignon or something.

Oh, I usually like to give my fantasy characters fancy name, bordering on the ridiculous. :)

My main Warden is Thoralion Cousland, a generally nice and selfless sword&shield warrior who ended up with the Ultimate Sacrifice ending. The name is my standard name for all my "knight/paladin" characters in fantasy RPGs and dates back to the good old pen and paper days.

I also had a female mage, called Celeste, a "big axes" dwarf commoner, called Troglin, a female city elf archer rogue named Gianna and a dalish shem-hating dual dagger rogue called Erathon.

Still have to finish the dwarf and the dalish playthrough.

I named my Dalish elf Steve... kind of lame.

There was this one time I was talking to a dwarf and he asked, "What's your name?" and I responded, "My name is Steve." The dwarf said, "I can't pronounce those crazy elf names."

Something like that.

I believe this was the Proving Master? "I'll just put you down as a Grey Warden, since those elven names are always a mouthful," I think it was. (For reference this guy has no trouble pronouncing "Aeducan.")

That line bugged me way more than it should have.  I can understand why it was put in there (there are millions of possible names out there, after all) but it still annoyed me.

My Wardens' names:

M!Surana - Ridanu (made up from a name generator ages ago, and I liked it) - my One True Warden

F!Mahariel - Celidh

F!Tabris - Brigid

F!Cousland - Meave

M!Tabris - Idris

F!Brosca - Alita

F!Aeducan - Gudrun

and that's all I can remember at the moment.

Wait, what? Your mage is also called Celeste?

May I ask how you came up with the name? I was pretty sure I didn't use a cultural reference for mine but maybe I did unconsciously.

My canon warden is Male Human Mage named Ozymandias.

"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"

Of course I don't know if Shelley was your inspiration, but that's always what comes to mind when I see that name :)

He's inspired by a D&D Warlock I once had in a game of 4th, or was it 3.5, I forget.
But that warlock was inspired by the "look on my works ye mighty and despair" line. Also Qzymandias Amell is just a cracking name.

My first warden was a Dwarf named 'Angry'*

Sadly, I can no longer access his save file due to Time Magic**

The point is, The only picture I have left of 'Angry' is the small thumbnail shown on his save file in the Keep, which I have blown up and written on here for Comedic Effect***:

CZRPtin.png

...Oh, but I never finished his playthrough. I swapped over to my human noble Cousland, who I named Paladin. Because I was also lazy.

*...First names mean nothing in this game and I hate coming up with names. I will likely name my son after this Warden, and make sure his middle name is 'As'...because my last name is Buck...don't let me have kids.

** ...I kid you not, I cannot regain my old saves...but they are the only options I have on the keep I don't even-

***...And yes, he was very angry. You cannot Cage the Rage, but can you enrage Nicolas Cage? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

My female mage was named Seras (Amell).

My male noble was Adrien (Cousland).

Seras is my favorite Warden. I was inspired by Seras Victoria from Hellsing, because her name just rolls off the tongue so lovelily.

But then they had to go and make this elf chick who has the same exact name save for one letter... dammit.
