My wardens were both female elf mages. I made a lot of mistakes in my first playthrough with my character who was called Leia, then made a second playthrough and named my new character zelda .

Sarah does mean Princess. So good fit for a Cousland.

I've chosen "Fëanor", the name of an elven king whose tragic story revolves around revenge. Perfect for someone wearing Elgar'nan's vallaslin.
It also amuses that if you rearrange the syllabes you get " No fear".
Gago Amell.

So, Andrew Lucas. Why be ashamed of calling your warden Andrew?
I have had an Andrew Shepard. ![]()

I mean - you guys carefully come up with a name to fit the origin, the surname and among other stuff, then I just go and insert my first name, haha! So, Andrew Lucas. Why be ashamed of calling your warden Andrew?
I have had an Andrew Shepard.
I'm glad there's people who picked Andrew, though. I'm not alone xD
Also, for DAI I went with Lucas Trevelyan, hehe. As for Mass Effect, it always have been John for me. I like Sheploo
So digging a new Origins PT...

Andrew works just fine because it's an English name in an English speaking world.
Wanna be a rebel? Call your Warden "José Cousland".

I recently made a new city elf named "Hero."
Firstly, that's a legitimate name of a Shakespearean heroine from Much Ado About Nothing, wherein her fiance believes some malicious gossip about her and then publicly denounces her as a ****** and ruins her reputation without trying to discover the facts (LOGHAIN, in regards to Grey Wardens).
Secondly, since everyone in future games calls you "The Hero of Ferelden," it makes an amusing pun. ![]()

Since every DA hero is only addressed by their last name, I don't know why they don't do it more often with the HoF.
For an example, Merril refers to the Dalish Warden as "Mahariel", not just " Hero of Ferelden".

For an example, Merril refers to the Dalish Warden as "Mahariel", not just " Hero of Ferelden".
I don't think addressing DA heroes by their last name became a "thing" until DA2 and DAI.
I remember someone once theorized that originally in DAO only nobles really have last names since a) only they have inheritable lands and titles to attach a name to (most peasants probably wouldn't bother with a surname since they have no legal property or possessions to pass down) and
they're the only ones whose last names are spoken out loud in DAO; Aeducan and Cousland. (It's worth noting that this is the case in A Song of Ice and Fire, which pretty clearly influenced the first game.)
Then they brought back a close friend of the Dalish Warden in DA2 (Merrill), who needed to call the Dalish Warden something, so they had her refer to them by their text surname (Mahariel), which shot that theory out of the water.
As for why they don't refer to the Wardens by their surname in the newest games, it's probably for a multitude of reasons. It's been years in-universe since the Fifth Blight, the story has moved so far away from them, in some worldstates the Warden is dead (which the devs have been emphatic about respecting), and there are seven potential Wardens with seven different surnames (Cousland, Amell, Aeducan, Brosca, Surana, Tabris, and Mahariel), so it's probably not very cost-effective to record the voice actor mentioning each surname for every conversation the Warden is mentioned in. It's just cheaper and easier to use the blanket title "Hero of Ferelden," which can refer to all seven Wardens, than verbally record every surname for every conversation the Warden appears in.

Lyna Mahariel - has a good ring to it, so I didn't bother trying to come up with another one.
Solona Amell - same.
Inara Cousland - I'm generally bad at names, so I often just borrow them from other media.
Rila Tabris
Rada Brosca
