I should have waited one more day.

After DA2 and ME3, I swore I wouldn't pre-order any Bioware titles, and I didn't - but I should have waited just a little bit longer... and read the tech support forums.

I'd love to give it a second chance if it ever looks like they get whatever causes this god-awful stutter and random performance drops, but in the meantime, I hope Origin honors their return policy...

Me too..looking for a refund. Actually I love DA2 and ME3 and would love if this was anything like them.

Controls are bad. Keeps crashing and freezing as well.

Don't blame Bioware. Those are good guys. Blame EA publishers.

Nope. Will absolutely blame BioWare. If they were "good" guys, they would put an exclaimer on the game... "PC Controls coming soon."

This is worse, literally thought this couldn't happen, even more confused than the controls for the original Fable on PC.

You can tell all they did with the PC controls is rebind from the console. Absolutely no effort went in to make this a tailored experience for the PC.

I don't see what people have such an issue with saying "it's clunky", "it has no PC controls".   So they controls ARE different, doesn't mean the game is screwed. I personally hated Gears of war controls, yet others Love them.

Sure they have a few things to work out, but that's why we are Posting on a Support and FEEDBACK forum. Give them the feed back but don't be demanding refunds when its 1 day into release. Give it time.

Origin only offers refunds within 7 days of purchase or 24 hours of first running the game, whichever comes first, so... on day one is the only time you can actually ask for a refund. No thanks, not going to gamble $65 that they might patch it when I can actually (hopefully) undo the consequences of acting against my better judgement.

So the game everyones been dying to play is going to back out day 1 from a few things they will be fixing. Look at Every DA game they made and they all had issues, even ME games same thing, but they All got fixed to perfection For the game they are.

This is exactly why I have the game sitting in my Origin library, untouched except for the install and the repair.  I figure if I wait a few days to give the developers some time to get a few more of these bugs addressed, I'll be less likely to be tearing my hair out later.  Also, I'm still leery of my beta graphics driver, so I'll see if by Monday things are better.  ;)

Hardly. Despite Bioware saying years ago they'd continue to offer support and fixes for DAII, DAII still suffers from the save data corruption that prevents a person from finishing the game. So saying Bioware fixed all their games to perfection is obviously stretching it.

Besides, considering people are shelling out 60-70 bucks for this and only have a limited time to get a refund -- seven days? To be honest that's bullshit to me -- I completely understand people putting in for a refund. The controls aren't just bad, apparently, they're actually broken for the PC in some respects.

There are even problems with people wanting to have subtitles on, causing the game to freak out and stutter.

That said, there will more then likely be some patch fixes, but there are also some things that bother me. Like how for the PC edition people can't tell their party members to hold (so ML said on twitter). And the way for them to address it? "Well, we probably won't give you a hold, but we'll give you something!" (rough paraphrase. Very rough)

I can understand why people would think the PC folks were left in the dark, but then at the same time this seems to be par for the course for fans of anything. Day 1 release will inevitably bring out the worst in people.

I'm thinking about doing their refund policy as well, i'm getting random ass crashes in several areas of the game, it's making playing almost impossible. I really wanted to enjoy this game, but after 5 random crashes in 20 minutes, i'm done. I want to wait for some patches, but who knows how long that will take. Maybe in 6 months when i can find the game for half off on GMG.

Yeah, I'm also getting a refund right now, too. At least I can respect that they let you have 24 hours to get a refund, because I believe Steam does no refunds after a game has been released. But that's ALL I can respect.

I knew I was probably going to regret buying this. I took a leap of faith, hoping they would do better. After DA 2, I stopped trusting Bioware, and I've always hated EA. Constant stuttering, FPS drops, and 2 minute+ loading times alone make this game unplayable for me. When I turned the video settings to the absolute minimum, to a quality far beyond what my rig can typically handle, the game looked like garbage and it STILL also ran like garbage. I'm really frustrated and angry because I wasted most of my day frustratingly trying to make the game work.

Fool me once Bioware & EA - shame on you. Fool me twice Bioware & EA - shame on me.

I still have 3 hours to decide about a refund. The main thing that's pissing me off is this tactical camera. It just doesn't work whatsoever in terms of playability. It doesn't give you free motion when you zoom out with it (only lets you look directly downwards) and on top of that it doesn't zoom out far enough. The a.i seems a bit buggy as well.

Meh, I'm probably going to refund to be honest. I want to believe they will fix this tactical cam but at the same time I don't have any faith at all that they will release a patch to let us zoom out farther with it or let us look up when we zoom all the way out with it in tactical mode.

If they just came out and said "we'll fix it" I wouldn't refund but this seems to be some kind of crappy design decision. Either way this tactical camera sucks compared to dragon age origins cam. I'm just so damn mad right now. I can't believe they messed up AGAIN.

How can they get the tactical camera wrong.... how how how guys??  Come on damnit..... why do pc gamers get shafted so badly?

That's an almost perfect description of my experience. The performance - given the graphics quality in this game and my PCs performance running other demanding titles - is simply terrible, and turning the graphics down far enough that it's just about physically possible to go through the motions of playing it (but not in any way enjoyable) results in a game that looks worse than a well-optimized title from many years ago.

The only difference is that I had to go to work, so I only lost three hours of sleep trying to get this working last night and then a couple of hours after work, instead of all day.

I never got that DA2 bug and I played it twice recently.

EA accepted my request for a refund, for what it's worth. I pre-ordered three days prior to launch, and put in the request after realising it was a bad console port.

I played through Da:O and DA2 countless times, i'd say at least 2000 hours between the 2 games, that said i played on 4 different rigs all different specs and resolutions over the course of time. Had a few Minor issues but nothing game breaking.

The only game breaking bug I encountered was 3 weeks ago re buying DA:O on steam for $25 to replay it and it wouldn't let me launch cause of having the newest direct x 11. Then got it on Origin and same issue. Had to reformat whole computer to fix it.

In other words, there has Been many people having issues with the game and once they reformatted and started fresh it worked for them for most bugs. Controls will be controls but bugs can be your system specs. If you can't play on low settings then I recommend you get your money back and use it to upgrade your computer. The game has its flaws but some of you are going WAY over board lol.

Used the tactical camera and yea the zoom out isn't enough for PC in my taste, and once you change the button controls in your bindings its not half bad.

I wish no one was having issues but that's practically every launch of every game other then the ones that do 2 week open beta before launching to do all the tweaks.

Wow, I'm impressed. Sent a refund request and was immediately approved. I was really looking forward to this, but the fact that my computer's having trouble running it at decent levels (I don't know how, considering I have a an FX-6300, i.e. a six core processor and an HD 7870, which is obviously not super high on specs but nowhere near bad) and running into the gender glitch (everyone kept referring to my character as a woman despite the fact that I at least thought he was a guy - he has beard stubble, at least) has turned me away from it for now.

Maybe I'll get it on PS4 when it drops in price a decent amount, since I have plenty of other things to keep me busy in the meantime (Smash in three days, hoorah!) and I at least (hopefully) wouldn't have quite as many bugs to fight off on a console. Anyway, thanks for the refund, EA, I appreciate the good will.

I will say it was very easy to return this game on Origin and get the refund.

I'm sad I had to return the game, but it was literally unplayable for me.

But a good customer service experience on the Great Game Guarantee.

Origin did me a good turn with the refund. Just as promised. Tried for 14 hrs to get to the game to start, kept getting black screen of death after several dozen attempts to fix (And 2 re-installations).

Went into my origin order history, clicked the refund button.. bam few minutes later confirmation email I got a refund.

Very good service in that regard. One of the few things Origin does right or is better than steam (steam basically has a zero refund policy, sigh).

Dunno if it works on store bought games etc, I bought via Origin. No idea if it works if you got a key from another site like GMG etc, but if you buy from origin then the refund thing works like a charm. (you basically have 24 hrs to try it within the 1st time launching the game).

That's the problem, there are people with a decent setup who can run other, more demanding titles and run them smoothly, yet they're having trouble with this specific title and it's not just one or two people.  For whatever reason, the gameplay itself runs smooth on High settings for my computer, but cutscenes and dialogue are stuttering like no tomorrow, which is unfortunate... hopefully it's just an optimization issue from their end because this shouldn't be an issue when you lower your setting and are still getting the same reaction from the game, in relation to stuttering.

Maybe I'm one of the Lucky ones? I have a solid Framerate at Mid-High Graphics. AND I'm on a LAPTOP!

Not sure what you mean - is it the Origin version of what you get in Steam when you hit Shift-Tab?  Dunno, and no way to check now since you can't play the game once you applied for the refund.

No, talking about the one from AMD or Nvidia, that shows your clock sped, fan speed, temperature, etc.  There is a thread about it somewhere.
