I never got that DA2 bug and I played it twice recently.

It happens if you have all of the DAII DLCs, or at least Legacy and MotA. What happens is that you can complete Legacy and MotA, but it won't let you finish the Act 3 storyline. The final quest will bug out from the transition to the Docks to the Gallows, creating a perpetual loading screen. So exiting the game and trying to go back in to where you last had an autosave or manual save will just end up resulting in it saying the data is corrupted and can't load.

Granted, this is on the PS3. But it's one of the (many) reasons I stopped playing DAII. What's the point in playing a game you can't even finish?

And here, the problem seems to be worse for some people. What's the point in playing a game you can't even get to start properly?

No, talking about the one from AMD or Nvidia, that shows your clock sped, fan speed, temperature, etc.  There is a thread about it somewhere.

OK, so that was interesting.

Turns out I was wrong about not being able to play while you're waiting for a refund. (could have sworn I read that while clicking through the forms...)

I thought you meant the Origin in-game overlay (that lets you check achievements while you play, etc.) so I shut that off. It seemed to help. Then I read your reply and turned off the "Nvidia Experience", and that seemed to help too, to the point where the actual gameplay was almost normal - there were still some random FPS drops (though much less frequently) and some serious but temporary stutter when I entered new areas. If it never got any worse than that, it would be irritating but basically playable... depending on one's patience. Maybe.

Unfortunately, the cutscenes are still a mess - the lag and stutter at the start of any cutscene involving multiple NPCs and lighting effects (like the ones where you close the rifts) is so bad I sometimes miss the first several seconds altogether. (and I'm using the "unofficial fix" that's supposed to unlock the 30 FPS limitation)

Overall, I guess that actually gives me some hope they might be able to patch this enough to make it work decently, but right now, there's no way in hell I'm going to try going forward - for one thing, there's no way to cancel the refund request that I know of, for another, I'd still be very reluctant to invest time into it only to find out that (for example) once I'm out of the prologue and into the bigger open world areas the performance takes enough of a hit the game suddenly gets completely unplayable again, or that the messed up cutscenes are more than I can put up with...

And still, none of this should be happening in the first place...
