My recent playthrough on the steam version, from scratch (no achievements unlocked, first playthrough): approximately 23 hours, capping at level 50 on Ilos.. No skipping of dialogue (well, very very very rarely). Note, this was on casual difficulty, so fights were over relatively quickly. I wanted to concentrate on boosting charm/intimidate, and dialogue in general instead of the fighting.
I played 'realistically' for the most part, instead of systematically landing on every uncharted world as I did initially on the 360 version (which incidentally took me about 46 hours the very first time).
Somehow I unlocked the completionist achievement, which is odd considering I wasn't even trying to be thorough - no keeper scanning, and not completing collection quests (only picking up/surveying things that were in my path).

Oh, and I actually enjoyed the uncharted worlds, when not obsessively combing every square metre of them for stuff.

I finished in less than 13 hrs, but I
was rushing through. Wanted to finish by this weekend since I preorderd
ME2. It's funny, considering I had ME1 sitting around for 2
years.

Yeah, I've had the PC version laying around since release - only ever played on the 360. Recently got the steam version (I'm moving to get most things on steam), but put off playing through that because of confusion over the DLC. Finally got around to it last week - better late than never I suppose. :P

My play-through in preparation for ME2 was about 38 hours; on my second play-through (new game +) I've just hit level 60 and ended Virmire, have done 51 side-quest and put in over 70 hours now and trying to tie things up for the ultimate save game to start ME2 with ;)

To think I have the ME2 CE sitting in my room and the only thing I've done is download Cerberus and DLC and watched the intro B) probably going to take me a week to finish of ME1 before starting on ME2

damn people got some big numbers. It took me only 27 hours on my first playthrough to 50 and getting the completionist achievment. I didnt skip dialogue either...I dont know what everyone was doing to get much. My last playthrough to get to 60 and all sidequests only took me 10 hours (with dialogue skipped of course but I've already played it a few times.)

3 long, and interesting days. Quite the adventure when you're searching every nook and cranny for stuff to do. Currently at 43 hours.

Not to be rude or ignorant, but how the hell did it takes some of you upwards of 60+ hours to get everything in this game? I just went through again getting near a perfect game (skipped about 5 quests or so, and a few of the collection things) because for some reason ME2 did not recognize my save from before. Getting pretty much everything AND reading dialog, still managed to complete it in about 32 hours. Even if i got all the collections and did the quests, it would have only added 1 or 2 hours max. Just doing the story and a few quests here and there for levels, you can beat the game in under 15 hours...its really not that long. I just want to understand how it could take, as one of the first posters stated, almost 80 hours...that's just insane. Did you like leave you system on while you were at work or something?

My first playthrough roughly did it around 40+ hours did about some of the quest I think most of those addition because of the reason I like to stop and just leave the game on and do other things. By the time I go back about 2-6 hours could have been added to the game time. Its just a habit of how casually I would leave the game on and comeback to it.

Well, I have reached almost 74 hours of play-time but only on my SECOND play-through; because when you use the new game + save file the hours you've put in the first time will continue. As I mentioned, the first time was over 38 hours and now the second time its almost 74 hours (just reached the citadel after Ilos). So when you think of it that way it seems less long.

Furthermore, you know that you don't have to run everywhere right? I don't transport on the citadel and enjoy the architecture and the details in the game; if you approach ME games like that it will really take a while.

Hopefully tonight I can finish my save game and then slowly start working on ME2 which I will really try to hit 40+ hours on my first play-through!

I suppose most of you are talking about nearly 'complete' playthroughs with side quests. After I did my "complete" playthrough I started to to do 'speed runs' to level up as fast as possible. In other words... going for XP per hour rather than total XP per playthrough. That means playing through just the main story and only a handful of side quests that you could get along the way. A full speed run beginning to end can be done in about 5 hours or so. This is fastest XP per hour and can get you to 60 surprisingly quickly (i was doing this to get my infiltrator to 60 before ME2 release day). :)

106 Hours and 31 Minutes. Just finished

But I have to note that I haven't played it more then 1 time!!!

Also keep in mind that I am a hardcore player into this game, couse I was really playing it like in a real situation. So in the whole Citadel - walking. In ship - walking, etc..

Reading all the planets, interested in their background, investigating on "mass effect wiki" forums about the consequences of my actions and what to pick to make from my point of view the right choice. Made it on Veteran difficulty and achieved level 50 and top weapons. What I only missed is the Predator M X armor - medium for Shepard ( Achieved only Predator M IX ).

My normal playthrough was about 23 hours. Just before ME2's release, I did another playthrough (for the savegame) with all sidequests done, but didn't bother with scanning planets. That took 15 hours.

My first playthrough, without Pinnacle Station as it wasn't out yet but with Bring Down The Sky was around 37-38h. I did pretty much everything and finished at lvl 50.

My second playthrough, with an Adept, also doing everything + Pinnacle Station + the "other" alignment quest, took me around 42 hours. That being said, part of the reason this "took" longer, a lot of the "time" was spent on browsing the net with the game running for some info, thinking about builds, etc. It's still time spent in the game as far as I'm concerned, even if the game itself went by much, much faster since I was using an adept and made liberal use of the wikia for fast sidequest planet exploration on minerals and such. On the first game, I actually explored all the planets myself for the resources.

My current game is at about 20 hours, a couple of them are also "net-research" hours, and I've done every sidequest, Therum and Feros. I don't expect Noveria, Virmire, Asteroid X57 and Ilos to take me more than 10-12 hours.

What do you get for importing a level 60 character that you don't get for importing a level 50 character anyway?

2 more levels and 20k or so credits, I think some extra resources too. Not worth another play-through just to get lvl 60 imo.

My first playthrough took me 53 hours. I went to every single world, did every single side-quest (including all collections), listened to everybody talk (no dialogue skipping) and completed both Bring Down the Sky AND Pinnacle Station. Ended up at level 50, left him that way because I hadn't unlocked levels 51-60 yet.

I completed my second playthrough yesterday, which took me 47 hours. It was another completionist playthrough, but because I'd already seen much of the dialogue, I skipped through a lot of it, and didn't bother reading/listening to the Codex entries again. I ended up on level 56 (and this was starting at level 1!), and just used the GiveXP cheat to max her out before finishing the game.

I've started my third playthrough now. Let's see how long I take on this run!

My quickest play through on a fresh character was 4:30 ish ending at level 50 playing on insanity. I did three runs to max charm/intimidate before doing my final carry over run and ended up with about 55 hours played. At least ten of those hours I'd left the game paused to do something else.

This is why I don't get the whole obsession with getting to 60 in two play throughs. 7-8 hours to do just the main quest aren't hard, complete runs take over twenty hours on a good run. three play throughs doing just the main quest will get you to 60 early in that third play through coming out a total of about 20-25 hours comfortably where as even one quick run and one complete run will get you to 60 but will take 25 hours at a real push. With three runs you can max charm and intimidate for free, with two you can't.

I don't see how you guys are getting these huge numbers. I have only ever gotten 15-20 hours at most and I didn't rush or anything I did most of the side-quests, did a lot of exploring etc.
