Without doing a strict statistical analysis; it appears that console players are loving it; PC players not so much. For me personally, the control scheme on the PC is so horrible, that it makes the game unplayable. No mouse look, no point and click, I am constantly fighting the camera just to move my character around.

In the old days, we could simply wait patiently for some gifted modder to make a few adjustments. Now, we are stuck with what Bioware gave us and some of us are not happy campers.

For me, this was the last straw. I was prepared to love this game. I wanted Bioware to hit a home run and recapture some of the old magic. But the decision to mess with my PC controls has made me so frustrated, that I seriously considered uninstalling the game. Until they fix the controls, I refuse to purchase another Bioware product, ever. No DLC, no expansions, no micro-transactions, nothing.

Interesting in all the PC footage pre-launch, they had people playing the game with controllers, rather than mouse and keyboard. Now it seems we know why.

For those who are enjoying it, good for you. For the rest of us; seemed like a nice game, to bad I can't play it...

Wow

Its hard to imagine that in 2014 people are so adamant about not considering to switch to a controller if you find KB/M too horrible

but each to its own

I use autohotkey for mouse look. The following is the link to a post I made on the basic sample script I use for DAI.

How is a controller going to help? Does it have autoattack outside of tactical mode? Does it make my characters actually move automatically to the people they're attacking? Does it let me click on loot and have my character run over to pick it up?

Man, it's such a pity that I can't have my characters do everything for me, that I don't actually have to control them.

People talked so much **** about how not levelling up attributes would ruin their immersion, but somehow actually having to walk over to something and rummage through it to loot RUINS the flow of the game.

I think what you dislike is the change, my friend.

I have nothing against change, if it makes things better. And I have nothing against allowing players to have to use the movement controls to chase enemies around or get to loot if they want to. What I object to is forcing such features on players when they add nothing to the gameplay.

And as an aside, I had no issues whatsoever with removing attributes on level up. In fact, I supported it as I found the previous system immersion breaking...:P

Uh huh. I'll just quote myself here:

I don't mind using a controller on my PC, I do it all the time. I just played Shadows of Mordor recently with my controller and enjoyed the game. I played The Stick of Truth earlier this year with a controller too (because it plays better that way IMO) and also enjoyed that game.

Firstly, we were promised deep tactical combat, which is completely absent from the game and broken, which I am personally really butthurt about. Secondly, you can of course play the game with the controller, but the button mashing action is freaking boring and just plain bad. It is like playing a bad MMO or something, the combat in World of Warcraft is much more enjoyable than this drivel. I mean, couldn't they have at least copied The Old Republic's combat? It was at least half decent.

When Bioware designed the combat system it is like they tried way too hard and not hard enough at the exact same time.

I have absolutely no idea how anybody could claim that the tactical combat sucks in this game.  Is it because you aren't good at it yet?

The tactical camera is tedious at best.

I find way too much overthinking on forums as people pick games apart based on the specs, or the graphics, or this and that.  Are the controls perfect?  No.  Is any part of the game perfect?  No.  Am I enjoying it?  Absolutely.  I play 5 or 6 hours at a stretch and then lay awake at night thinking about quests.  I stop what I'm doing to listen to banter between characters, because I find them interesting.  Considering how badly we've been crying for a decent RPG on the new systems, DA:I is a breath of fresh air.

Just go play it and try not to keep comparing it to previous games.  Let it take you in and work the old Bioware magic.  It's great fun.

So play in action mode, I guess.  It's more time consuming, of course, but I don't find it to be "tedious" at all.  It's better than Origins was on PC.  I actually like both play styles that DA has had available, so I've always been a bit torn, but I'm really digging taking my time, fighting, exploring.  This game is better than Skyrim, and I played that for like a year.

I've gathered that there are bugs and technical issues but what about the actual meat of the game? How is the story? Are the characters interesting? Is the dialogue well written? How does it compare to DA:O and DA2? Things like that. I'm eager to know what people think, even if you haven't finished the game.

Be wary of the massive horde of trolls that are disparaging the game. I think that it is great and find that I am agreeing with the wave of positive reviews that Inquisition has EARNED prior to release. A glimpse will show that far too many of the negative comments rest with those who've had a history of complaining. I can appreciate that they are disappointed, but them's the breaks when you are hard-wired for that result.

I think the game is good. My only gripe is playing it on a PS3 versus a PS4. I can see the beauty but I know it looks 10x better on PS4.

Well I actually have another gripe, no way to turn autosaves off, was trying to give suggestions to my friend on ps4 to get pass that Cassadra Romance bug but you can't turn off autosaves. From my knowledge its only a Playstation thing, not sure if it happens on Xbox too.

Actually a few people have already completed the game and uploaded LPs to Youtube.

if they already "completed it" they skipped 90% of the content in-game. the "main story line" is just a fraction of what you can do in this game. i JUST got to skyhold after 13 hours of gameplay. in all honesty? this feels less like DA:O as much as the original KOTOR in terms of size and ambition. i didn't get my lightsaber till 10 hours into KOTOR and i didn't get my castle till 12 hours into inquisition. there is no way in hell someone has already TRULY completed this game unless they did nothing but play it (not even sleep would be allowed)

I find that people who expected this to Be DA:O2 don't like the game. People who expected the game to be DA2 part 2 also hate the game. Its seems the people who knew the game was going to be its own version of Dragon age like the game alot.

So I'll let you make of that what you will.

Have no sympathy for people who expected Origins 2 and I don't  have sympathy for those who expected Dragon Age 2 Part 2.

Its a different game engine. Games change. People need to learn to adapt.  Sure the crashes are annoying. But so far I'm giving this game a solid 8.5

I sat here all day at work yesterday reading these negative, doom and gloom, posts about how awful kbm was for this game (people a terrible console port to pc is Dark Souls 2. Doubt me go try that game with a mouse and keyboard and DA:I's flaws will seem minor).

So I loaded it up with trepidation. Played two hours. I don't get it. I mean the negativity. There are some changes to how you move compared to the first two games but nothing that someone with more than the patience of a gnat could not get used to. By the end of the 2 hours I was moving with ease. There are a lot of games that use wasd and you type don't you? If kbm problems are the biggest gripe I don't get it.

There also seems to be a fair bit of you listening to trolls here and on metacritic who are doing your fair best to talk yourselves out of it. It looks beautiful. It runs pretty darn good. Solas is already one of the best characters. I wasn't sold on him pre-game but now I want to know what his whole deal is. Can't wait to play more of it.

I agree. I admit when I first started out it was difficult.  All I had was adjust some setting and learned to adjust how it is with keyboard/mouse.      It just takes some getting used to.   Now I am having a blast! This is a great game.

And I LOVE Solas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

-PC controls are bad, and given Bioware has a history making this type of RPG it really makes you wonder how they could have forked that up. Was Awesome Button Guy put in charge of the controls or something?

-Tactical cam can be a pain especially in more confined areas. This could be an engine limitation since it doesn't go through ceilings or what not.

Those two things aside. I am really loving this game. Looks great, feels great [with my 360 controller], dialogue options are feel more satisfying, gives you enough choices, even the fetch quests aren't bad if you just take them as they come and explore the open areas instead of trying to grind your way through me main story as fast as you can.

9/10 I absolutely do not regret my pre-purchase and as far as I am concerned DAI has redeemed the DA franchise.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, as we all have our preferences and tastes.

However - for me, this is easily my GOTY (and already tied for my favorite of all time with Mass Effect 2 & Skyrim) .  I'm 24 hours in and  just got to Skyhold (played around forever in hinterlands and oasis) .

Loot scanning is a little tedious but I don't mind at all-  but so was pressing tab when I played origins on PC (playing this on XBONE) -

The pivotal story moments in the game have resonated with me immensely.  Spoilers are everywhere, but the Haven/Skyhold transition is awesome.  I know people are saying its a weak story, etc -    but I would disagree-  for me, its an extremely powerful and emotional roller coaster-  I've been emotionally moved on numerous occasions

I also find the combat immensley satisfying  (two-handed warrior) -

I was on the HYPE train for sure - but it continues to EXCEED my expectations.

Reviews did nothing to inform us of the removal of previous DA features like having skill tooltips, clear inventory screens, auto-attack, toggle to run/walk, highlight environment objects, the skill number being less than half of the ones in DA:O.

None of those features are trivial.

Most of those things are the absolute definition of trivial.  The only thing that's significant is less skills, but most of us already knew that before the reviews came out.  The rest are completely trivial, minor quality of life issues.

I don't think we should necessarily discount extremely negative reviews, no more than we should discount extremely positive reviews. In sorting through the numerous reviews and discussions taking place about a game you'll start to see common threads running through them all. From there it's easy to get a general idea of if a game is worth its salt or not.

Some threads running through discussions about this game are that it has bugs and technical issues, poor keyboard and mouse controls, is a good game but not great, and is better than DA2 but not as good as DA:O. The responses in this thread (and the forum in general) sort of show this but more importantly it's what I'm seeing in other places like NeoGAF, GameFAQs, and even Metacritic.

Now one thing worth mentioning is that I preordered Mass Effect 3 and picked it up on release day. Considering how that game turned out, I'm not as eager to rush out and buy games without knowing what I'm getting myself into first, Bioware games especially. Forewarned is forearmed. More verdicts will come in for this game and when the price drops and technical problems are ironed out I might give this game a shot.
