"You can disrupt Fade Rifts to attack demons." No you can't there is nothing to "right" click on. It makes absolutely no sense. Does anyone have any suggestions. Because I have no idea what the hell is going on?

Uhh, yes you can. Been using it all game and I have closed near to every rift in Hinterlands, except those way above my level (level 12 Despair demon *shudder*)
Cass taunts, I walk pass as she builds guard and become nigh unkillable, I disrupt the rif, demons stagger, My pure DPS'er kill them for **** and giggles.
I got it down to a science.
....
Or I could be totally wrong and are seeing things that are not there? No, pretty sure I see demons get all woozy when I disrupt the rifts.
...****, now I am confused as well.

I clicked all over that rift where the meeting was held, but I saw no "hand" to indicate that you could click on anything around that pillar. Everybody died, because i could not "right click" on anything. I tried every way imaginable. So, no you can't.

I have noticed that even on Tactical View, sometimes it's just damned hard to see the 'hand' to disrupt rifts. Specifically for me, I often have to cam-down to ground level and look UP, because the interactive portion is too high for the Tactical Camera to view. It's annoying.
I feel ya, I feel ya.
What annoys me is that to date, demons enter an 'invulnerable' mode and you have just have to basically waste time waiting for a scripted period before the rift allows you to click it and then bring down the demon. Not sure if that will be the case in every fight, but right now I am in the Hinterlands and it seems to be the case every time.

Nope you can, just called my Bro at home and got him to try.
When the rift is in crystal form you can right click and disrupt it.
So yeah, I dunno whats is happening on your end there.

Sometimes the rift goes into a state where you can't click on it, but in general this is definitely a viable option.
The greater difficulty for me was actually seeing where to click. Eventually I said the hell with it and just clicked whether I could see anything or not, and usually my Inquisitor stuck her big Qunari paw up there and the big glowy green line showed up. If you're looking for the place to click and not trying it because you don't see it, just click. It may work.

I have been running that around goddamn temple listening to Cassandra spouting off : "Disrupt the rift"";clicking on everything and nothing works, for Christ sake. When I say nothing working I friggin mean it. This game isn't fun at all. I am hating it. It's a good thing I didn't have to pay for it. I am going back to Skyrim. The hell with it. Thanks for all of your help.

Most of the time, the demon is immune to all damage. While the rift is open to damage and being damaged, the demon takes damage (excessively.) When the rift goes dormant, for a while, the demon is still vulnerable, so focus fire on it and the shades it summons. When it gives an evil laugh and its guard goes back up, focus on the minions and watch for the weak spot in the fade rift. The white writing is small and sometimes only visible from neck straining angles. Then have the inquisitor interact with the rift and start the cycle again. I found the demon's guard easier to see in tactical mode and the rift vulnerability easier in isometric view, so you might have fun switching back and forth.

I am not a fan of the tactical battle bullshit. It is a waste of time and effort. I am not going to spend a half an hour or more...stop.... use tactical camera...set tanks... fighting some friggin BOSS. After about five minutes I would be opening up the console and typing in, "killallhostiles," like I do with DA2 when I of all of the killing. As it is I might as well be playing some stupid war game not a role playing game. But then, I am thoroughly disappointed in DAI for a lot more reasons than this particular BOSS fight anyway. I am a Bethesda fan through and through.

The big green cristally thing hovering about 5 meters from the ground, when you hover the mouse on it the cursor change to a hand.
But keep the boss busy since you'll gain aggro when you disrupt the rift.

You can not interrupt while the demons are spawning, only afterwards. Also, any attack will interrupt the cast, so you must have no aggro at all. (stealth really works well here). Once the rift crystallizes, you can click it, usually immediately after the demons spawn and every 15 seconds or so afterwards. (it works really well, the stunning and damaging of all the demons this way)

Well, after several hours I got the damn thing figured out and killed the demon. But, beyond that this is truly not my kind of game. I am awfully glad that I didn't have to pay for the game and waste my money. I hate the tactical map crap. I hate how you are too far away from your character. I hate how you have to use WASD and the mouse together to move. Looting is stupid. If you don't get that little circle just right with the right click of the mouse button? I think I will just stick with playing my old games: DAO, DA2, Skyrim, Mass Effect, and Fall Out 3 and New Vegas games. Those I never get tired of. Thanks.

Not too crazy about targeting using isometric vs. tactical cam, I'll say that. The lack of auto-attack in isometric view is maddening. Being able to advance while attacking is fun but I'm not likely to grow a third hand any time soon to hit pause (Ctrl key) and use the directional keys simultaneously with the mouse (left hand cramps.) I'll quit complaining, but first let me gripe about the pause feature. Who thought it was a good idea to map jump to the same key that was used for pause in the other titles? I'm bouncing around combat like a kangaroo, and have turned combat to casual until my hands can learn the controls.
And don't forget to loot the demon BEFORE you finally close the rift. I wonder what it dropped.

LOL at taking several hours to kill that first demon... I am admittedly one of the worst gamers alive, and it certainly didn't take me hours to figure it out. And you keep saying glad you didn;t have to pay for the game, which to me is just nothing short of bragging... Ooooh, look at you, you're special cuz you didn;'t have to pay for it. Every post I see from you just reads like some whiny pre-pubescent slag...

This. So much this. I actually miss DA2's battle system. It's topsey turvey world. :-D
No autoattack is horrifying for a sword and board warrior (usually my favourite class). Right click, move forward, no wait... that doesn't work... melee, hold down button or tap tap tap---it's RSI waiting to happen, frankly.
I'm used to using the space to jump in, say, WoW (but in wow you can also move by holding down both mouse buttons and/or use the wasd keys, so, options), but my damned thumb kept hitting it anyway because mah brain was "DA, DA, DA--space to pause." Bounce bounce bounce like the aforementioned marsupial, no hand on rift and tactical is almost impossible to see upwards on a laptop (gaming laptop though it is). Will probably keep dying until I change the old thumb muscle memory... ;-) But seriously, *any* button but the ctrl key. My pinky doesn't bend that way. Even caps lock would be better.
To the OP: I also had issues with the clicky hand not showing up, even when it was supposed to. Will try again after some sleep. ![]()

I know many of you think that I am a whiny old man. But what you don’t seem to understand is that, for one, I am set in my ways. I love video games that were designed for PC not consoles. I love games that can be modified to suit the player’s needs. Regardless of what many of you may think it is my fantasy and I will play “my” game accordingly. That is why I love DAO and DA2. That’s why I love Skyrim. That’s why I love the Fall Out franchise. That’s why I love the Mass Effect franchise. If you like generic or vanilla fine. I, however, would prefer strawberries and Ice cream. It is just that simple. Thank you.

If you're on PC you can just rebind jump to control.
That's what I did.

It is possible that I've been imagining those hand lasers I've been shooting mid fight this whole time. I've only done it to every rift in the hinterlands except the absurdly overleveled one, tons in Redcliffe castle, and a few in the swamp place I can't remember the name of, so it could have just been a trick of the eye.
