Oh also cant lock onto enemies in melee either
Not sure about the clicky hand not appearing thing, I've personally not had this issue, though admittedly sometimes it can be hard to interact with the rifts due to odd camera angles.
However I can help on the locking onto enemies issue.
Basically, all your companions, when controlled by the AI, not be you, will auto-lock-on to enemies they are directed to attack, or which come into their attack radius.
The party member you control will not do this by default, except when in tactical camera mode.... at least they won't on PC, not sure how it works on consoles.
You are required to position yourself manually, and then spam the attack button.
However.....
The last patch introduced an auto-attack function. Check your key mapping screen for it, and make sure you assign a key to it, there's no key assigned by default. I have set mine to 'R' to replace the default manual attack key.
Now, when I wish a controlled character to move to an enemy and attack it, I select the enemy, hit the 'R' key, and the controlled character moves over to it, locks onto the enemy, and begins to autoattack, which I can then supplement with my own compliment of spells and abilities... just like in DA:O and DA:2.
Took me a few hours into the game to realise this, but once I did it made things considerably easier.
Here's my standard method for dealing with normal enemies out in the wild.
-See the enemy(ies) at a distance.
-Hit the tab key to cycle between varies foes until I select the one that needs to be tanked as a priority.
-Hit the Y key, which instructs all party members to attack that target.
-Tank runs in and begins tanking, other party members begin their own attack.
-Press R on the keyboard to lock onto the target with my controlled character, who then runs toward it and begins autoattack.
-Use any and all spells and abilities required for the fight.
- Repeat against next foe until all are dead.
-Phat loot, profit.
It hardly needs to be said that this method isn't as effective for tougher fights and the harder rifts. In those cases it's generally best to send the tank in first, and then position other party members accordingly in tac camera mode, but for general scraps, it's a fast and efficient way of dealing with the various mobs you meet.
