Hey

 

Does anyone know what Varric's nicknames for the companions are this time?

 

The only one I know is he calls Cass 'seeker'

Cullen is Curly. I think Josephine is Ruffles

 

Edit: Josephine is definitely Ruffles.

He calls Solas "chuckles" and Cullen "curly" from what I hear. No idea for the others.

The MotA nickname is dependent on Hawke's dominant tone. Red tone is "Killer" and blue tone is "Waffles".

May I just say that as I think about it I really find it hillarious he calls Solas Chuckles...

Sera is definitely Buttercup. I liked that it was a call-back to Merrill's Daisy.

 

Blackwall is "Hero", Cole is "Kid", and he refers to Leliana as "Nightingale" when he doesn't use her name. (Side note: Bull also has nicknames, of course. He calls Leliana "Red").

 

I think that's all of them.

And to put the "homophobic" nonsense to bed, some in-game banter:
 

• Dorian: Varric, I want a new nickname.
• Varric: What's wrong with Sparkler? Not colourful enough for you?
• Dorian: You must know me better now. Or does the moniker you gave me five minutes after we met still apply?
• Varric: I have the eyes of a story teller. It's a gift.
• Dorian: So, I'm a bit of light you stick in a window sill to impress passersby? All flash, no heat? Hmm... that's actually pretty clever.
• Varric: See? Embrace your place in the universe, Sparkler.

I think Varric doesn't have a nickname for Cassandra. He just calls her "seeker".

Our Quisy gets occasionally called "Your Inquisitorialness" from time to time.  Which is a one-up on Hawke.  Took a DLC for Hawke to get a nick-name.  And we beat out Aveline as well.

 

'Course, no one would dare give Aveline a nick-name.  She would punch them.

I heard someone call Blackwall "Furrows" (furrows his eyebrows a lot), but I cannot recall if that came from Varric or Iron Bull.

Actually Aveline asks why she does not have a nickname. Varric replies he could not think of a good one. Then he goes What about Red? She says too common. Varric then says let me know when you think up a good one.  I think Isabela calls up Lady Man-hands in Act three if Hawke defends Isabela at the end of Act Two.

Sera's indeed Buttercup (I always attributed this because a Buttercup is a poisonous flower, so basically calling Sera deadly)

 

Leliana he calls Nightingale like everyone else. In War Table missions that he addresses to her as such
