Actually Aveline asks why she does not have a nickname. Varric replies he could not think of a good one. Then he goes What about Red? She says too common. Varric then says let me know when you think up a good one. I think Isabela calls up Lady Man-hands in Act three if Hawke defends Isabela at the end of Act Two.
I must say, I liked the progression of Isabela and Aveline's relationship in DA2. They hate each other and bicker through Acts 1 and 2 (Isabela is distinctly unsympathetic with Aveline during the Courting Donnic arc) and come around to appreciate one another come Act 3 after they both make the realization that Isabela isn't as selfish as she pretends to be. They still bicker some, but it's affectionately.
And this is the first time I've seen a lot of Varric's nicknames for people in DA:I. Stupid banter bug.
