Can anyone explain to me why hair has a glossy look on medium or low "mesh" settings?

This is the most disturbing thing of Dragon Age: Inquisition in my opinion. I can't set the mesh setting to "high" because i own a 3 year old gaming notebook and the fps drop would be significant if i did. The game just looks and works fine on low to medium settings for me, besides hair. Looks like all characters are wearing LEGO wigs.

Isn't it possible to remove the glossiness from hair materials on lower settings? :(

Not that I don't think that is a problem, but the thought of that being the "Most disturbing thing in Dragon Age Inquisition" could be an over statement.

But to your point, try messing with the settings, there might be something that changes it. Does the game have any type of post processing filters like chromatic aberration that might be the cause?

Dropping the mesh settings makes the hair look glossy, that's the tradeoff and you can't remove it.  Try bumping down some other graphical effects and tweak your resolution to see if it'll offset having a higher mesh setting.

As i wrote, setting "mesh" to "high" would change that. But i would lose too much performance if i did that.

In addition, i can't reduce other settings to improve my performance because all setting set to "medium" or "high" just cost me about 2-3 fps, and playing with a lower resolution than 1600x900 is as bad as plastic hair.

I' just wondering why the glossiness is a tradeoff for less detailed meshes. At least with Engines i worked, shaders/materials and meshes were completly different things. ;)

Shouldn't it be easy to remove the glossiness on lower settings? I mean, the game probably isn't performing better with glossiness than without and it looks weired.
