@Whooster: "fundamentally different game" meaning "a game that's almost unplayable on PC because rifts cannot be targetted reliably and because movement is an absolute PITA"? agreed.
This has to be the worst control system in a PC game yet

1. Yes the Controls are Bad.
2. EA is not the responsible party here (for once)
3. I like the game. It's not bad (aside from the aforementioned controls)
No point in posting about it here. Later.
The responsible party is whoever at Bioware made an executive decision that it was not worth the money to develop a PC specific interface as they did for DA2. This is the place to post such complaints unless you plan to never ever buy a PC version of any Bioware game as they may do it right in their next games. It's not bad is very faint praise for such an highly anticipated game.
Personally I plan to play a little more to get the feel of the controls and then restart at the Easy level as my solution to the lousy controls. They are a problem only in the real time combat but they are a serious problem there. I expect it will get worst as the game advances. So far my reflexes are not advancing as fast or as much. In non-combat mode I can itch my way around, taking as much time as needed.

t wouldn't be so bad if I could at least change the controls, but you've removed that option as well.
This had to have been play tested by at least one person at Bioware who said "Wow this is awful".
You can't even bloody rebind your LMB.
"Neverwinter NIghts 2" has the worse camera controls ever.

I wouldn't say so. Now playing Mysteries of Westgate and am fine with it.

I'm playing on Normal. I intend to suffer through until someone can offer a fix for the controls.

The on sad thing is DA3 isn't friendly to modding or the mods to fix these issues would be out within a day or two.

Still better than FF14 controls. Those were a travesty.
The problem isn't necessarily the choices, but how we interact with the game world.

Truly embarrassing.

Yea, it is SO so irritating. I want to enjoy the combat instead of dealing with all the pc combat issues already mentioned in several threads here. As if all those fetch quests are not already time consuming enough, we need to spend a **** ton of time dealing with the awful control system.

Very well said, Harold.

It's seems like the state of the PC controls are subjective.
Here is TotalBiscuit enjoying them for the most part, although he does have an issue with the tactical camera.
I'm in the EU so I don't get the game until tomorrow so I'll make my opinion then.

well i suppose if the master has spoken...
the fact that the control scheme has changed so much is not subjective, going from da1/2 to 3 you will notice the stark difference as very little is the same, from the controls to the core features

I don't believe I said he was the 'master'
I was simply providing his video as evidence that the opinions over the controls are subjective because he liked them.
I had to get used to the K&M controls in both DA:O & DA2 so I don't expected it to be any different for DA:I
Although I was thinking of using my controller, since I spend all day working with a K&M so prolonged gaming sessions with a K&M can sometimes put additional stress on my mouse hand.

Total Biscuit's opion is a very poor one (as it is in multiple instances). Though I mean I never really expected the combat interface in general to be amazing.
Honestly it doens't mean it shouldn't be but I never expected it to be great when I think about the combat I think of how Dragon's Dogma would have worked for PC (very poorly) it would have felt so stiff and akward just like Dark Souls 2 did. However if there was going to be a really good interface import then the game for PC would probally be held by by extra months like Dark Souls 2 was, so I guess pick your posion Bioware waiting months too give you a game you've wanted for a long time or make every PC user wait extra time. To be honest a Xbox 360 controller for your pc is a total of 30 bucks at most, that's literally pocket change.
I mean it's better to buy a controller now. The new Mass Effect is going to use the same engine and is likely to have the same issues. Even though it's not certain the Pc port of Mass Effect has such a good interface compared to 360 version.

QWOP is a good game.
It really isn't. It's funny to watch people struggle with a control scheme that was always intended to prevent people from being able to achieve the result they actually desired.

In years to come when they teach how to NOT design a control scheme they'll be using DA:I as an example.

Please, rework controls
- Autoattack
- right mouse click on orders at the portrait to cancel them. In console is needed a button to do so, with mouse in pc is not needed a special key.
- rework tactical camera
- click to move
- inventory controls are horrible, all time switching from 1 menu to another. Why if I want to equip one weapon and one armor I have to go through diffent menus?
If controls in DA:O and DA2 were fine, I can't imagine why this mess now
