I was selling my creature research items for a long while before I realized what I was doing.  I also sold a couple items without taking off the components first.  Bye bye, masterwork staff grip.  Apparently, when you leave a merchant and come back later, everything disappears from the buy back menu.

Don't use sell all in Valuables instead sell the stuff manually since game puts stuff you need in there like research and requisition quest items.

 

Hint if the item symbol is Gold coloured keep it as its a quest/research item so don't sell it unless you got tons and tons of them.
