I sided with the mages and made them our full allies in my inquisition! I'm very pro-mage (much to Vivienne's disdain) and my Dalish elf mage wanted to give them all the chance they had at becoming their own people. I don't immensely care if the Chantry is happy or not, I'm making sure my inquisition is as progressive as they can be! Making the world a better place. :D

I just couldn't get myself to side with the Templars but man

Not possible.

That's regrettable. After the mess both sides have caused I don't feel like favoring one over the other. And I'd rather both sides resent me for punishing them than having just having one.

Siding with either the mages or the templars doesn't mean you are endorsing that side. It just means you've enlisted their aid against the breach.

My Inquisitor considers himself a Templar at heart (and technically is).

The Templar Order will be restored to full glory after this war. A knight would never abandon his fellow knight in favor of a cursed magic-maker.

Side with the Templars. Everyone loves them, they're just loyal nights, and they still want to reform the system in Justinia's vision after the rest of the Order cleanses itself with your help. Win-win. Have stupid leadership, allying with Tevinter, and spitting on Ferelden under their belts.

Really? It doesn't feel like the line is clear here compared to Origins. After Dragon Age 2 it feels like you're damned if you do and damned later if you don't. I resolved the Dalish/Werewolf conflict by not conspiring with either side and ended the curse. That could be resolved again peacefully in DA:2. I chose Harrowmont for dwarven king and I didn't have to deal with it later. Killing Avernus and the possessed body of Sophia Dryden didn't haunt me either.

But in Dragon Age 2 it's like you can't get a break.

I spare Dupuis and Ser Emeric dies later. I don't spare him and Sir Emeric still dies. I spare Dupuis and Leandra still can't be saved. I spare him again and all I get is an apology and a small item.

I help the refugees of the Starkhaven Circle get away, and they kidnap one of my companions years later and try to kill me. A good templar dies either way. I don't help them and I'm an oppressive jerk.

I help the workers of the Bone Pit and it still gets razed by a high dragon. What the heck?

The good thing about a Blight is how it brings people together.

My Hawke was a Mage. Not, specifically, a Blood Mage. And in the end, she sided with the Templars.

Why? Shame, embarrasment, disappointment, & many other things for my fellow mages. How little willpower they must have had. Why doesn't anyone realize the only way you can convince someone of your wholesomeness is through example?

Magic is an unbridled force of nature. It is a curiosity that only a select few can wield it, but therein lies the problem. It falls unto the Mages of the world to control Magic, and not let it control them. It all relies on the Mages' willpower. If the Mage's mind is weak, Magic would plunge the world into chaos through them.

The responsibility is clear. No, I don't approve of some of the more brutal methods of the Templars, but to me, the Templars only began in order to control the Mages that failed to control themselves. Everything has spun out of order, and only through the truly civilized will things fall back into place.

I want the Mages on my side and believe that they should have a chance to be independent.

No, your companions will not leave or stay regardless of which side you choose.

Depending how you Handel either group at the end will determine how much approval/disapproval the will get. No companion will leave you for which ever side you pick.

I sided with the templars as my Inquisitor Navilia as it made sense to her.

I like both sides, and particularly both factions quests were very, very good. Picked Mage though, cause I wanted to hang out with Dorian a lot and I wanted Rhys and Evangeline. That said, the envy demon quest looks soooooooooo good too. The Templar side looks just as inviting.

Pretty good, I thought. Though re: a certain mage leader

That said, the concept was great, and I had a blast. Plus, Dorian made it all worthwhile.

Ok so supper noob question how do I pick a side? when the option came up I wasn't sure so I told everyone to stop bickering and now I have a mission "Champion of the just "

that says if I pick the templars I cant help the mages. Did I miss my chance to chose sides? If I do it will it lock me in with the templars?

my last save was 3 hours ago and I don't want to side with the templars this play through

Go to Redcliffe, so you can speak to Fiona. You don't have to complete Champions of the Just, which is the Templar quest.

Sided with the Mages. Having Alexius as my Magic researcher is good. Too bad that there is no Venatori schematics in the Redcliffe mission :/
