I installed the new Nvidia driver, and it does this error again anyway. When are we going to see a fix for this? I can't play more then 20 minutes before it freezes. D:

This is for AMD though. Not sure if it works the same way for Nvidia.

You can still try to underclock it to see if it works until they update the game or video driver.  Or else uninstall the new driver and install a more stable driver prior to the new one.

Installing direct x from game redist folder worked for me.

I don't know how to do that. It's not something I've had to do before, let alone do I know of anything in Nvidia that does this to begin with.

i got the same problem, the game was already running a little weird, my character is a man and Leliana said " we need her alive" and then after the bridge collapse the inquisitor clothes changed to the default one from skyhold, and when the fight was done the game crashed and now i can't even start the game.

Ugh. They really need to fix this, because as much as I'm enjoying it, this, this is ruining my experience.

I had to do an entire boss battle and dialogue/cutscene all over again because it didn't save after said battle.

make sure to hit f5 alot for quick save. i stoped using msaa even tho it runs great on my 980 gtx it makes the game to unstable and prone to crashing intell this game gets better optimized and nvidia gets some decent drivers out.

OMG! Bioware, FIX THIS! I've just met the big boss for the first time, and it cuts out AGAIN! Every awesome scene is ruined by dread that it's going to freeze up. I'm not able to enjoy this game at all!!!

I don't know how this error made it through to release.

Also, in case anyone is wondering, I have an Nvidia GTX 765m graphics card on my ASUS ROG laptop.

I've got the same error. Nvidia GTX 760 here. At first I was like "ok, I'm used to game crashes", but now... it just breaks the immersion, because it happens during the cutscenes.

There is a thread on EA Answer HQ forums with almost 20 pages. Everyone tried everything (underclock, automatic graphics, changing physx to CPU, etc). It WON'T fix it. Sometimes they think it did but it's only because they didn't go through many cutscenes. You can play all day long with no directx error as long as you don't trigger a cutscene. When you do, get ready for the crash.

Same thing here, Radeon HD 5850.  Happening during random cutscenes, runs fine otherwise.

Only had this error happen once thus far and it was when running the benchmark once.  Was trying to test with everything set to absolute maximum (both in game settings as well as control panel tweaks).

I'm getting this error repeatedly with the end-of-September driver, which is curious because I didn't get it at all yesterday. I got some additional downloads when I first started the game this morning, but all I saw were pre-order/Deluxe Edition bonuses, nothing that looked like a patch. I'm currently downloading the latest beta driver from AMD. If that doesn't work, guess I'll put the game on hold until it runs more reliably.

I have everything but meshes on medium so it's not that I'm pushing my HD 5850 to pretend that it's a newer card.

I get these crashes too but only when cutscenes eff up. They somehow end in a way they shouldn't. Last time this happened my char shook his head and started walking away ending the cutscene "wrongly". After reloading there was actually a part to come where he would enter conversation with an NPC, the correct way not to end but to continue the cutscene.

I've had the same error happen twice, once during a cutscene in the prologue and once just after the first boss during gameplay (thankfully that one had autosaved).  Both those in my first hour of play.  I've done three more hours after that with no crashing.

Sooooo disappointing, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. Seems like a ton of people are having some combination of DirectX crash, ludicrously low FPS, and [other] crash. The tech forums have a lot of attempted solutions (not by EA/Bioware though), and most seem like they help briefly if at all. It's pretty baffling this is hitting so many people and either 1) wasn't noticed before, or 2) was ignored before release... it's unplayable for so many, even with really high end PCs.
