For my 4.5 hours of game time, I'd give it a 9/10. The only things holding me back from giving it a perfect score is the somewhat frustrating combat camera and lock on system.

The writing seems the same as any other Bioware game so far.  Good by video game standards, but still full of fan service and heavy handed presentation. I'm enjoying the party members more than DA2, if that counts.

What do you mean by fan service?  Sexually, or other?  Because, I find the women characters in this game impressive, and you can easily have a 4-women party.  DA:2, though, with Isabella and stuff; hmmm yeah fan service.

Yes it's a great game.  PC users are upset because they truly believe that RPG's should only be on PC, and because the PC version is really bad they are throwing a tantrum.  It's in every thread especially in the Feedback section.

I play on PS4 and I have absolutely NO complaints at all.  The controls, the tac cam, the movement, the combat, the lore, the quests, the story, graphics, everything are top notch.

Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I agree.  The only problem I have, is when rams run across the battlefield and you flick or click R3 to aim, and you can't stop attacking that stupid thing.  As soon as things get heated, they should flee the area.

Hey, I'm a PC player and I'm not throwing a tantrum.  So far I think the game's pretty fantastic.  Can't wait to get home from work and throw more hours into it.

I'm not playing with a keyboard/mouse setup, so I'm avoiding the clusterfuck that supposedly is.

That's one of the PC players main complaints.  I'm using PS4 so *shrug*   but yea....people are in an uproar and when we've told them to try a gamepad controller they went apeshit.  I mean you can literally buy one for $10-15.  But some of the pc players have stated that they absolutely refuse to play with a controller because "RPG's are made for the PC".  It's just a ridiculous comment people make.

What a wierd comment, I have been gaming on consoles and pc both for over 25+ years and I have never once thought PC gamers believe that RPG's should only be on PC. There might be a small %, but people on one or two forums does not = all of pc gamers.

Check alot of the posters not only in this section of the forums, but also in the Feedback sections AND on Reddit.  I have both a PC and a PS4 but some of these guys are PC snobs with their statements of "I absolutely refuse to play this game on a controller because RPG's were meant to be played on a PC."

It's quite humorous actually. :)

I don't think one can reasonably say that this is a bad game.  It might not be your cup of tea, but there clearly is a lot put into it and most people are enjoying it.

The question itself is subjective.  People have different definitions of what "good" and "bad" games are.

The most I can say is it is immensely enjoyable and addictive, and I've only played 4 hours.  Will my feelings change?  Maybe.  But I doubt it, this game has enough going on for it that I don't think it's suddenly going to drop into "bad" territory.  And even if it did get less enjoyable, it would still be a good game.

I give it like a 7. Anytime I have to break out a 360 controller for a PC game you are going to lose some points. Also lost a point for this micro stuttering that a huge portion of the playerbase seems to have.

Beyond that I enjoy it a great deal.

No OP, it isn't a bad game. Whether you enjoy it or not is another matter, but no, it's a very, very good game and my GOTY so far - but it has flaws, like every game. The only things I'm not loving are the tactical camera (doesn't zoom out far enough) and moving with WASD instead of mouse, though I'm getting used to this. I'm having a huge amount of fun.

I'm saddened by the stuff going at Metacritic too, it's a real shame seeing the vested interest some people seem to have in trying to make a lovely game fail. I hope they don't succeed.

Yep, that's completely stupid.  I played DA:O both on Xbox 360 and PC, and I'd recommend either method.  I only slightly lean towards PC because it opens up options for controls and improvements in graphics.  And modding, though I'm not sure if that'll be a big thing with DA:I....

I'm someone who stopped playing and got a refund but I would not say it's a bad game at all. For people who want a World of Warcraft mixed with Assassin's Creed style of game I think it is probably an excellent game. I bet a ton of people will call this one of their favorite games ever. However for me it's just not the kind of game I enjoy. I like RPGs for tactical combat, interesting quests and story. The idea of spending 20 hours in the Hinterlands finding stuff and doing random MMO style quests is just boring as hell to me.

So it really depends on what you want out of it.

Gained Access at 10:01 Mountain Standard Time on Monday, had the day off so I am about 22 hours in (also had the 6 hour EA early access). And so far I CAN'T PUT IT DOWN.

The story is amazing, no spoilers, the Masqurade Ball with the Empress is a really fun mission. What I love in what I have played so far is the openess to explore. The fact this is not JUST a hack and slash game, but their is a strategy element, a political element, and you really feel you are running the inquisition.

With every game their is a group of extremely hard core gamers who knit pick a game to death. As a consul game this is awesome. Bioware is always fantastic about storyline, they corrected all the issues that caused problems for DA2 and really connected with the best parts of DAO.

I'm 22 hours in and I have barely scratched the surface. I have explored the Hinterlands to death and still have a hand full of missions there left. I have explored the Stormy Coast.

Dragons true to form are death. Really intense, really fun battles.

9/10 easy for me. Still some glitches but those will get fixed.

Some gamers expect perfection out of the gate, they want everything perfect. Others want a game completely built for them, the problem with building a game that hard core gamers will love is no one else can or will play it.

PC here and I love it so far, I only regret its taking up too much of my time now

Took a bit of tweaking, but its running great now on a moderate rig and playing with a controller hooked up to the TV

If I want my old school fix, I'll go play Divinity or Wasteland! It did take about 9 hours to click with the game though.

Note: Loved Origins and disliked DA2

I'm sure everyone has a range of opinions, but in mine, DA:I is the best game to hit these current gen systems.  I can see this one winning more GOTY awards than anything else on the market, by a long shot.

Basically, it works for the same reason every great RPG works:  It pulls you in.  It's immersive.  You come to care about the characters so much that you stop what you're doing when they start to banter, because it's entertaining.  I've been playing on Nightmare just to motivate myself to really scrounge for every bit of material in the game, and all the XP I can get.  I just can't say enough about it.

"With every game there is a group of extremely hardcore gamers who knit pick a game to death."

That, right there, is why I feel there are a large amount of people who are doing this game a huge disservice by choosing these little bits and pieces that they may have noticed while playing through the game, and then tearing the entire game down because of them.

"I just spent three hours running around a HUGE sandbox where there was, literally, an almost overwhelming amount of things to do and explore - but then I saw a cut-scene and it was a little choppy.  HOLY CRAP!!  I am going to throw a fit now because that one minute of choppy cut-scene just ruined the past three hours!"

This is how I imagine people who feel the need to tear games apart because of small issues reacting, and while humorous to think of, this entitlement mentality that has sprung up is likely the main reason why developers (across the board) have been staying relatively silent after a game is released.  When I hear these things, I translate the whining into "This game wasn't specifically tailored to how I expected it to be!  They need to change that right now or I won't play anymore!"

BioWare deserves a great deal of credit for creating a world that, so far at least, is amazing in scope, scale, and chock full of things to do!  So your keyboard buttons aren't configured the way YOU want them to be - well, guess what, they were probably designed by a person who thought that the keyboard controls were absolutely perfect because that is the way HE would set them up.  Does it throw a little hitch in the accessibility the game may have, sure.  But, with a little time, learning a new button scheme is not all that difficult.

DA:I is a great game, and on initial startup, I wound up playing a heck of a lot longer than I had planned before realizing it was late and I needed to pry myself away from the screen in order to ensure I got some rest.  I could easily knit-pick little things I may have noticed here and there, but then I would be focusing on small negatives rather than the HUGE amount of positives this game has been offering.  I choose to enjoy what the game is, and so far, it is fantastic.

But you don't have to do all that extra stuff in the Hinterlands, right?

I have a lot of complaints about the PC control scheme in combat but, other than that, I'm really enjoying the game so far. Much much more than DA2.

They really went all in on this game and it shows. I just hope they continue to work on PC interface issues because, for me, it's souring the experience a bit.

No it is not. I've played for around 30 hours now and I would give this game a 9/10. I was fortunate to encounter no technical issues with the game (playing on PC). The combat is exciting and sometimes a challenge, the story is interesting and I really love the companion banter/interactions. I've never had a dull moment.

My best friend and I play the game together and we're both in love with the game. Even though I'm not playing on my custom worldstate, I'm still happy. Will definitely replay this game again and again. It was worth the wait.

I am 15 hrs into the game. First few hours we're kind of boring but after that it gets MUCH better in terms of story. It's a good game, deffo better then DA:2. PC controls are terribad and there is quite a bit of bugs but overall i'd give it 8,5/10.

I have it on the PC and I am having a blast.  I didn't bother with the Keyboard/Mouse once I saw how clunky melee and overall movement is with it.  Switched to controller and it has been a delight so far.

It isn't a bad game, but it does remind me that the Dragon Age series peaked with Origins.  It's been a downward spiral ever since.
