Is DA:I a bad game?

Seriously, I am about 8-9 hours in and about 4 of those hours were spent in the Hinterland area running into a billion different side quests.
I'm giving the game an 8/10 so far. Mainly because it's buggy which is why I refused to buy it on the PC after Mass Effect 3 requiring you to be constantly online, even for the single player campaign. Within my first eight hour, my controller vibration stopped, a cutscene camera angle clipped through a combat training dummy, a tactical "move to point" command on my character sent me flying almost halfway to the other side of the current area placing me on top of a mountain, and a boss named Druffy bugged out at 1 HP and didn't die even after 4-5 minutes of attacking the crap out of him and bringing down his steel walls like before.
If it weren't for those things, the game would be a 9 for me. Luckily they don't seem to occur too often so that is why I still give the game an 8.

But you don't have to do all that extra stuff in the Hinterlands, right?
That's what someone else said to me in another thread, but side quests are a pretty large part of an RPG. If I just ran through the main quests only it would probably be a short game, an unbalanced game, and wouldn't be worth as much money. Also from my experience the main quests were pretty bad too, at least in the first 10 hours.

Personally, I think its an amazing game and I hope it gets Game of the Year. I'll be playing and replaying this for years to come, just like all of Bioware's games.

Absolutely not. What Bioware usually excels at, namely characters and companions, are as good as they can get, being much more nuanced and poignant than previous Dragon Age iterations, including DA:O. Pre-release, I had the feeling that this cast of characters is Bioware's best one yet, and so far I am not dissappointed.
Gameplay, at least in terms of combat, is still quite awkward on the pc, but thats hardly a dealbreaker for me at least. And you can quite clearly see the effort in making improvements over both DA:O and DA2, though there are some mind-boggling backwards design choices as well.
Personal GOTY? Easily.

Fair enough, haven't played enough yet.

Its a good game, but IMO not even close to the best titles of the genre. Skyrim, Divinity, Wicther 2 are better, but I guess is more a matter of opinion.
Agreed it's a matter of opinion. Witcher series is good but I prefer characters I get to make as opposed to pre-defined. Divinity is also good overall, though I liked the Divinity 2 Dragon Knight games more, again I prefer the action oriented combat more than tradition RPG point and click.
As for Skyrim....it was novel for one playthrough. But I've already seen and done more cool things in the Hinterlands in DAI than anything in all of Skyrim, although again this is probably because I find Skyrim incredibly shallow in it's combat systems and not that satisfying.
