Happened to me as well, only it ended up being a happy accident since I'd been regretting picking the voice I did. Am a male qunari and I picked the brit actor, but his voice felt a bit pitchy for someone so big and imposing. Still, if I was a female and this happened, I'd be rather irked.

what i dont get is why is there even a different voice actor for Hawke? that voice never existed in DAII.

And another one for the group. Switched my voice too.... seems like Hawke wants to force us to use the default voice :P

I can't stand default Hawke ; ;  she would have a hard time going from blonde long hair to black short lol must be the distance from Fenris .... but joke aside...

Are there any news for the fix? Otherwise I have to grind through all the side stuff now xD

Another victim here. It's pretty frustrating, I'm chomping at the bit to play this quest but I've gotten used to the British voice for my Qunari gal and I don't want to have to put up with the American one for the remainder of my playthrough.

Same here (female human inquisitor, PS4).

It's a little ironic, I loved default Hawke in DAII and I just want to customize her, because she really doesn't look like that in Inquisition...

Bummer.  So no word on a fix for this?  I just tried it and it changed my voice.  I also have been rolling a British voiced qunari and I want it to stay that way.  Tried reloading the save right beforehand and it happened again.  I guess I'll give it a little bit.  It will be somewhat immersion breaking for either default Hawke OR to change my character's voice after 22 hours.

?.. Aren't the VA's pretty much the same people for Hawke in Inquisition? I was pretty certain that they were.

The VA is the same. The voice that changes is the player character's, not Hawke's.

Yeah, this really sucks. I hope this gets patched today so I can continue playing.

Happened to me as well, but I'm cool with it. I had been regretting my choice of the American VA for my male elf anyway. That voice is great for Dwarves & Qunari IMO, but not elves.

Has anyone had their voice change, and get male Hawke when they chose female in the Keep? Is this also related to not choosing default voice? I re-imported my Keep information and played from a previous save, however, I still get male Hawke when I chose female. Any information about this, would be great. I'll continue playing, but it sure does make you less engaged for a bit of time.

I was going to ask something similar. When I first got to talk to Varric he said something to the effect of: "I know a guy named Hawke." I never played a male character in any of the Dragon Age games ever. I went back and checked my Keep data to make sure I made Hawke a woman. I'm just more concerned when I get to see "Hawke" it's going to be a guy. I guess it really doesn't matter but I'd like to know before I sink more time into the game.

Ironically I had been wishing I could switch voice actors, so I'm actually pretty thrilled this bug happened to me.  It almost feels like my true Inquisitor was brought to life when they met Hawke

Hoping for everyone disappointed with this that it gets fixed soon :)   I would be so irritated if I hadn't been wanting to change VA's.

I'm wondering......since this thread doesn't have hundreds of responses, maybe it's not a universal thing that happens?

Lemme ask:

Are there elven Inquisitors who chose the American voice (Default for elves is the UK voice) and customized their Hawkes and didn't have their Inquisitors switch to the UK voice?

Just as an example.

Just happened to me about 20 hours in. I went from the male British to the male American voice. One good think about it though is that the American voice is deeper so it actually sounds better for my Dwarf...

It actually happened to me today, switched from American to British accent. Thankfully I saved beforehand.

First bug I actually encountered on Xbpx One version

I also experience this bug, really annoying. If you choose default hawke nothing changes, if you customize him/her the bug occurs, tested several times, it's reproducable. Voting for Black Emporium Mirror kind of thing to tackle this and for hair change via playthrough. Please do it BioWare!

MainQuest on ice, and man, I hate those stupid mmo like side quests... -.-

Edit: Would be nice when some one from BioWare could answer this Thread. I'm very curious if there is a way that a patch will reverse the voice even when I continue playing with this false voice, don't want to stop my progress... but this false voice kills it for me, totally...

I had the same issue and was concerned I was going to encounter male Hawke, but I just met my imported Hawke and she was female. I think it may have been an oversight with regards to the dialogue line. Maybe Bioware didn't fix that line of Varric's?

If you notice from speaking with other people that the decisions you made in the Keep are correct, then chances are your Hawke's gender will be correct. I hope this helps ease any worry you may have.

I am playing on PS4, BTW.

EDIT: On the subect of this topic, my Inquisitior's voice did NOT change when I customized Hawke. I chose the British voice for my female human Mage and it stayed the same.

Got the bug myself. Really ruined the fun of meeting Hawke. (Something I was highly against but wasn't handled too badly if it weren't for this bug)

Basically the bug reverts your voice to the default for your race. If you're already using the default, you wont notice a difference. For example Qunari default to the deeper american voice. If you're already using that, no bug. But if you picked the lighter brit voice, it shifts to the other one.

This only happens if you customize Hawke. If you go with the default option you're fine. Other than being stuck with bloodsmear face Hawke.

Hotfix this Bioware! :crying:

Awww, this bug is annoying. It happened to me yesterday. Think I'm going to load a previous save and wait around doing side-quests until this is fixed, lol. It's probably for the best because Hawke didn't look quite as good outside the character creator as I hoped she would, and I'd like to give it another go. Hopefully, this bug is fixed fairly fast, though.
