Well, I reached the point and I was prepared to use a default Hawke. I saved just before and I gave a shot at the custom Hawke anyway. I'm just happy to report that my female British inquisitor didn't change voice. Does this make any sense?
Customizing Hawke causes my Inquisitor to switch voice actors.

It's still consistent with the glitch provided your Inquisitor was human or elven.
Update: been playing with American accent the last 2 days and it's sort of growing on me. Hopefully this glitch is patched at some point though, as I would have preferred to keep my British dwarf, and would like to redo this playthough without the glitch sometime.

Happened to me as well FFS. I can't deal with default Hawke with her damn facepaint...customised it to look like mine and BAM my female Qunari inquisitor sounds like she has just downed a gallon of testosterone ![]()
THANKFULLY I saved beforehand cause I didn't want to mess up customising Hawke. I'm too picky...don't want to break immersion so now I'm avoiding that quest
which sucks cause I'm trying to build approval etc and push the game forward a bit.
Looks like I'm shooting Rams and Closing Rifts for a bit...
Following this topic...pleaaaaaaaaaaase can someone say when it is fixed? This is a real bugbear for me. Can't stand the American Female Voice ![]()

Got this bug too, but when I try to load another save and just deal with Default Hawke, the game crashes, so I started doing side activities and missions for the time being.
The Mirror of Transformation from DA2's Black Emporium would be great with or without this bug existing.
On the glass half full side of things, if you're role-playing as Madonna, the sudden British accent really helps you feel like you're playing as Madonna. ![]()

This was my biggest issue and annoyance with the game. It was really immersion-breaking to either have my inquisitor's voice suddenly change after half a game, or have a Hawke that looks nothing like the Hawke I played through the entirety of DAII.
I'm playing on Xbone. I hope BioWare patch this before I get to that point on my second playthrough.

Well looks like after 20 hrs Im starting over from scratch. Theres no way I can just go from American to British and still feel like Im playing the same dude. Most likely its not getting fixed soon so I have no choice...and default Hawke is not an option. Thanks Bioware!

Man, I sometimes feel alone in really loving the American voice. Kinda wishing it was the default. Damned humans.

I'm with ya - I like it better than Alix's.
Though I feel it could use work in terms of showing some. kind. of. EMOTION.

Please bioware give us the magic mirror.
I have no other save and i cant go back.
The voice change of my character completely made him sound like a child
Im 70 hours in the game and starting again will make me hate the game and the adventure ive been all these hours.
The game was awesome but this bug turned me off.I m already starting loosing interest to play now as my immersion is lost.

I find the delivery of the snarky and flirty lines to be pretty great with this VA. I dunno, I just feel like this voice has more presence.

It's been over a week, Bioware! Patch this!
Hopefully they're reading the boards and looking into all of the bugs/issues so they can release a patch that fixes all of them at once.

- Male Inquisitor. - Voice 2 (American) changed to Voice 1 after talking to Hawke. - I chose the 2nd pre-set look for Hawke (no scar) and made no other modification at all. - I imported a custom world, including uploaded Hawke through Keep. - Uploading Inquisition data to Keep - No pre-Hawke-meeting save file to go back to. After talking to Hawke, I went and did various fetch quests, spending several hours in Emerald Graves. The Inqisitor barely talked, and I attributed the wrong voice to a passing glitch. I ended up overwriting all pre-Hawke-meeting saves. Thus I'd need a corrective instead of a mere preventive fix.

Don't know if it's cause I'm a Brit myself and it helps my immersion
(because I'm mad and like to imagine I'm an awesome qunari archer) if I'd stuck with the American voice from the go then I'd probably be warmer to it - just not used to it TBH. But I just can't deal with a mid-game voice transplant
or BlandHawke...argh!!!

Bonus round: now I get a three-way conundrum.
Don't want blood smear Hawke, but want to advance main plot, but don't want my Inquis to change Nationality...so yeah let's just do the 467435 side quests I have waiting...ah well I can always aggressively pursue my romance option (since DAII my characters always seem to go for mentally unstable elves)...wait I CAN'T EVEN DO MY SODDING ROMANCE QUEST CAUSE I'D HAVE TO SPEAK TO VARRIC AND HE'S STOOD THERE TAUNTING ME CAUSE IT WILL AUTO-TRIGGER THE HAWKE CONVERSATION AND THEN I WILL BE FORCED TO DECIDE ....and he knows it Godammit -_________-
Gahhhhh now I'm allllmost tempted to forget it and use BlandHawke...
please bring out an update BioWare!! I don't want to do it!
(Not to mention I also can't do Varric's side quest or have any conversations with him at all...and he is one of my favs
)

Had the same issue, finally gave in and selected Hobo!Hawke today, hopefully after the issue is fixed Bioware will add in the option to re-customise Hawke.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix?
I don't like default Hawke so I want to customize but it switches my voice ugh.
Yes mine switches from American to British everytime I customize hawke, in every playthrough. Thankfully I like both accents.

I hope Bioware patches in a character appearance editor. Ideally fix this existing bug too, but at least this will give us the option of "resetting" or tweaking our Inquisitor's appearance post-intro.
Frankly, it seems ridiculous to not have that option, given the sheer size of this game. I haven't even taken the first mission after reaching skyhold yet and I'm already 35 hrs into the game. And I don't like my character's nose. Do you know how annoying that is??
My Inquizzy needs a nosejob and I just don't have the freaking patience to restart this game a 4th time. ![]()

Next playthrough this better be fixed!

This is really becoming a disgrace. It's been more than a week now and not a peep from Bioware except for a few days ago when they said that they're ''working on a patch''. Does EA/Bioware even have a PR team?

Looks like I'll go with the default for now, I'm not as attached to this Hawke as my other Hawke import, I just hope they sort it out before I play the game with that world state (I love that second Hawke and am keen to see him again as I created him.)

You have to wonder about their QA that allowed such a immersion breaking bug like this to get through.
I'd hoped it was a major enough bug that Bioware would rush to get it fixed, but it was not to be.

Since it's beginning to seem obvious, that they are not acknowledging and/or fixing this bug anytime soon (if ever), I was forced to continue my save. I have to keep imagining my Inquisitor took a blow to the head, went comatose for days and woke up with a different accent. Not cool at all, but I've been waiting for this game for too long, have to play onwards.
