Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue. I requisitioned the crest, equipped it, and was allowed to enter the Hesserian camp and challenge the leader, but after I defeated him the quest never updated and the two guards outside never spoke to me. Is it glitched?

 

Edit: Updating to say that I also was locked out of my inventory while at the Hesserian camp, but that fast traveling to a different location fixed that for me. Someone below mentions that they were able to get the quest to update upon returning to the camp for the second time, so I'll check if that works for me later as well.

For just a moment, after having experienced the Hinterlands...I literally thought this was an actual side quest where you had to clean someones house for them. Then I turned my brain back on and actually read the post.

 

I haven't encountered this...but literally I was like...man and I thought fetch quests were bad...but cleaning some NPC's house....criminy.

It's actually a sort of euphemism for killing everyone in the camp, haha. Basically you're tasked with eliminating these warriors that killed some of your soldiers, but you have an option to craft the Mercy's Crest so you only have to fight their leader and can potentially recruit the rest of his men to increase your Inquisition's power. I chose to craft and equip the Crest as was required, but my quest just never updated and the quest log doesn't tell me what I'm supposed to be doing to hand in the quest.

Same thing happened to me today. I used the crest killed the leader and then.. Nothing. It won't update, won't let me kill the guards on the outside of the doors, and the other bandits keep attacking me.

Having the exact same issue right now! /not helpful
The bandits outside the door don't do anything, and I can't take the amulet off because inventory mode is off-limits...because i'm apparently still in a fight

This happened to me too. Fortunately when I loaded an earlier save and redid the fight it worked properly that time.

-Went to the enemy camp and fought the guy

-Got the inventory bugged and the quest not updatting

Then I decided to travel to a camp, as to provoke a loading, and to comeback to

the enemy camp to see what would happen.

Upon arrival, I was gladly surprised to see  that my quest updated and that the game acknowledged

my triumph.

Thanks for this, I should have updated the thread to say that I did manage to access my inventory again after fast traveling to a different location. I'll return to their camp again this afternoon and see if my quest updates as well.

My issue is just a little worse. I can't even craft the Mercy Crest. I have the items to craft it and when I click the craft item it just doesn't do anything. The only thing I can think that is screwing this up is that I killed the two guards stationed outside of their base, but haven't entered it or fought their leader. *sigh*

Nevermind, saw in another post that if you have a full bag it won't craft. After a little spring cleaning in my bag, I was able to craft. Cheers!

In my case, with the crest equipped, I saved outside the camp. I went in and fought the leader only, and hit the glitch where the quest does not complete. I loaded the save file and tried again, and for some reason, it worked that time. I also noticed one of the books in camp could not be read. It gave XP, but no text or codec.

Finished the quest and it didn't trigger. Fast travelled back to first camp and returned to the bandit camp and it worked!
