Sell it all in the end none of it matters one iota, you can win with 20 power or 20:000 power.

There's too many misinformed people coming on this thread and just telling people to sell everything because they don't need power just because they assume valuables are only good for power. This assumption is not true.

Some of the things in your valuables help you to 1) gain bonus damage towards enemies (turning yellow items into creatures tables)  2) gain schematics for unique items in the game  3) unlock certain things for your Skyhold  4) build things necessary  to gain your specialization

Some people want to unlock all these things and fulfill all the requisitions, either just due to completeness or due to it's usability. Since everyone plays different, not everyone should go around and sell all their valuables.

They should just make a change in this regard, split the tab up, make it so that creature research goes into the crafting section, or a new section, make any item that has to do with requisitions go into a different tab. In my mind, there shouldn't even be a valuables spot, unless its one that is used just for adding things to it manually, nothing automatically added to it,  to make it easier to sell, instead of one item at a time.

Junk should be stuff one can immediately sell for cash.  Valuables should be for items that one might need for a requisition.  Like those malachite.  That would key the person to know that it might not be wise to sell it. I don't even bother looting spiders anymore unless I have the antivenom req on my table.  I think those get put into your valuables section because they are also used for reqs as well as creature research.

I never accidentally sold the sad splinters though.  They were always in my crafting section, i thought.  One playthrough I didn't get all three bags though, because I took the fort in the Western Approach via the well and never broke the front door down.  But, by the time I get sad weapon crafted all my warriors are using weapons that do much more damage than sad weapon.  Also, it looks ridic.  But I suppose it would look great with that cheese wheel shield you find in Crestwood(?).

i don't know if anyone is like me but i like to make sure so i viv dragon age inquisitions valuables wiki and if gives you a list of everything, i then select the items i have to sell and it opens a page specific to that item towards the bottom it says (usually) "this item is not used in any requisition or quest and thus can safely be sold for gold." hope that helps anyone.

i put this cos all items i have are white but i have "ferelden medallion of service" which is used in a requisitions quest in the swamp.  also "fereldan lock" which is used in requisition in red cliff to make cages. :)

One bit of advice: sell the special crafting resources you don't need for your specialty.  It's perfectly OK to wait until you know what you need.  Once you've completed your specialization, anything marked with a yellow heart that looks like it came from a butcher shop, not a card store, is safe to sell.  They're worth 3 gp each, and you can probably get a really nice schematic with all the broken philters and wisp essences you don't need.  I usually put it off until I see Bettyar in the Hissing Wastes....

There are some items I sell or don't sell for story reasons.  You don't really need the loot most of the time, so the missing gold or two will never be missed.  I always sell the blood-soaked teddy bear, but only after I've eased the child's fears in the Fade.  I have yet to find a use for the Crude Herb Manual (can only assume it's a reference to the mage origin in DAO).  After I pal up with Frederick in the Western Approach, I figure he was the one who bought the dragon sketches.  The gold horn...hmmm.  Probably just there to make us scratch our heads.  I forget how much it sells for.  I sell Sera's bag-o-britches after Cullen sends her bounty hunter friends after the bees.

Important survival tip for anyone with OCD:  if you mess up like I did (TWICE!) you won't be able to craft something later.  In the Western Approach, the best way to claim Griffon Wing Keep is to sneak in through the back door.  If you do this, you'll arrive mid-courtyard and two Venatori will flee up the stairs.  If you can take them out, fine, but don't follow them up the steps.  Instead, turn around and have the entire party attack the keep door.  There are opponents who will appear from nowhere, and once they are defeated, you can claim your sad splinters.  If you go up the stairs and claim the keep, the oak door will transform to a grating that can be raised and lowered, and there will be no sad splinters, so Mark will never get his mace.

I know this thread is pretty old but I just started getting really into DA: I and I had this question myself. Being a completionist I try to do all the quests that i can, requisitions included. So, using the wiki, i made a list of what valuables should be held on to. Some of them may not actually be valuables but all of the valuables needed are on the list.

Dalsih Tome

Ancient Writings

Malachite

Orlesian Tome

Fereldan tome

Fereldan Medallion of Service

Spider Ichor

Spider Eggs

Fereldan Locks

Decorative Gems

Dwarven Toy Soldier

Dwarven Dragon Statuette

Dwarven Case

Dwarven Plate.

Everything else needed for requisitions is either an herb or a crafting material. Any other valuables that you should keep are for enemy research. I hope this helps, I'm sure it will help me.
