Okay so I got my copy of Dragon Age Inquisition yesterday, and basically I bought it for the character creation. (I played with DA:Origins and II aswell) I was really excited about it, but first of all there are a few crucial modification options that are really missing from the creator. It's not so bad, but APB:R still has better customization in my opinion. Besides that most of the female haircuts are terrible. Yea, I get that, it's a middle age themed game, but still I really miss some normal, longer haircuts. The most disappointing part is that though, your character looks totally different ingame, than she looked in the creator. All the facial features, that makes your character unique are completely gone. Why is that? I play the game on Ultra, so that can't be the problem. Anyone else having this kinda issues? The rest of the game looks beautiful.

Yeah. Same for me, my character when created had black hair, some features, but in game he has different hair color, and even some makeup on his eyelashes :/

I think this is a result of a bug in the character creator itself. I've noticed while swapping between eyelash colors, that depending on which color I swapped from I could get dark or light lower eyelashes on the same setting.

In addition, the Qunari do not display vitaar in the character creator but upon meeting Solas and Varric on my way to the breach, my Qunari suddenly had vitaar on her face! I'm not certain if Qunari were intended to have vitaar and them not displaying in the character creator was the bug, or if the sudden appearance of vitaar is the bug. Either way, the game clearly has quite a few bugs with character creation. :T

I noticed my elf has that feminism feel to it. I noticed the crotch area looks the same style as Cassandra. I was like what? The elves in the last two games had no problem whatsoever.

Vitaar is helmet for qunaris so it's something you equip during game instead of chose in character creation. I think it's because of that.

It's the character creator.  Click and drag everything, don't just click the color you want, cause it won't update on the model side, but will when you get into the game.

Ooooooh, that makes a lot of sense, actually! On my first playthrough, my character got really bugged out. The game wanted to assume she was a Trevelyan rather than an Adaar, so I never got to equip the Qunari helmet before just now. But there do seem to be a lot of bugs with character creation still, like flags not being set properly. Again, on my first playthrough the weapon my qunari mage went for was a bow instead of the staff she actually wielded in-game, and I already made a post about dialogue bugs where she was treated as a Trevelyan instead of an Adaar.

Overall, it seems like there are a lot of bugs that need patched, and I'm amazed things this obvious made it to release day. Seems to me like beta testers weren't doing their jobs properly or something.

This, so much. All Ive been doing since release is trying to make a nice looking character that looks similar in game as in the cutscenes.

I've spent hours and hours the last two days and easily over a dozen character creation attempts according to my play through saves on da keep. They always look different in game and its not just lighting or angles.

It seems only the most basic features are represented outside of cutscenes, finally tonight I got a decent result and finished the prologue. Though throughout, my characters features were never locked and seemed to morph as I progressed.

Still looks solid In cutscenes but random facial structure during gameplay, fat cheeks , thin cheeks. Long pointy nose, short stubby nose. It's never exactly representative my character creation.

Yeah from what I've read in other threads about this it seems there's a bug (that apparently can be avoided if you switch between genders at least once while selecting gender) that causes some parts of the game to think you're a human female rogue.

As for the colors being off, it seems that the character creation screen still suffers from a lack of proper lighting. Not so much color-wise, but in brightness. Character creation screens (at least in Bioware games) are always too dark, so colors that look one way in the cc end up being a lot lighter in the actual world. In DAO I always had to pick a skin tone that looked very tan in the cc because otherwise in-game my character looked white as a sheet. The only cc I've known so far that was actually good with this is the one from WoW, which has your character standing on a pedestal in an actual environment that is properly lit.

I've got another problem with creating a female character: I just have access to male haircuts. When I tried to create a female elf she had some girlish hair, but when I wanted to look what other haircuts exist, it disappeared. There were just the same as for male characters...

Does anyone have the same problem?

(Sorry if my English is too bad to understand. I'm not a native speaker)
