So I defeated Alexius and then after I came back from the portal Dorian made to go back in time, I just stand staring menacingly at him and I think a dialogue wheel is supposed to show up because nothing else happens. Is this just a major bug? Because I can't advance anywhere else in the game because it.

I'm suffering from the same problem, on the PC version of the game. Basically after defeating Alexius, I'm stuck n a screen where instead of showing the dialogue wheel, it shows the combat interface like this:

I thought it might've just been my graphics card glitching or the game files damaged so I tried both lowering my graphics setting as well as repairing the game files yet nothing works.Like the OP I'm stuck in the castle and can't advance so help would be appreciated.

Restart the game as in restart the fight, restart the quest or the game entirely? :o I tried closing and reloading the game, and restarting the fight before but unfortunately it still didn't work for me.

Try opening the Origin overlay (shift+f1) during the cut scene after you defeat Alexius. Thats how i got through it.

That method worked perfectly! Thank you very much!

1. Change control scheme to keyboard/mouse

2. Load save from before the fight, save the game and exit

3. Repair the game in Origin

That's what fixed it for me.

This is really a huge gamebreaker. And if I assume correctly, we can expect no bugfix until the first update, which would be at least in two weeks.

So I am having the same issue.  I tried the things listed here (repairing game files, loading a save from before the fight, and using origin overlay) and none of them worked.  Has anyone found anything else that makes it get through the cutscene?

Edit: So I found my own way to get passed this: I reloaded a gamer before the fight and did the whole thing in windowed mode.  I did not bring up the origins overlay.  I don't know, its possible you just have to keep trying, but for me the windowed mode did the trick.

I think I managed to find another way to get past this as well.

I had the combat interface happen to me like it did for Reinara, and so what I did was reload the fight and then while the cutscenes were happening and people were talking I just kept pressing ESC to skip past the talks. Make your choices as usual and then keep pressing ESC for everything else. It should stop the combat interface from surfacing and bring up the choices for when Alexius is kneeling down. Everything else after that continues on as normal.

Using the Origin overlay did wind up working -- specifically, you have to hit shift-f1 during the cinematic when Dorian is opening the portal (after you've made the last of the dialogue choices, while Leliana is shooting things) and just leave it up while the cinematic plays itself out. That was what finally made the HUD stop triggering and loaded the dialogue wheel for the post-fight scene with Alexius.

Best of luck!

Pressing ESC all the way through helped me as well!

This worked for me, thanks!

I encountered this problem too. For those still having it, if you're using Fraps, try turning it off. It worked for me.

When it happened to me I just reloaded (there may have been cursing involved), did the fight again, and the bug didn't show that time.

I had to fight the boss 3 times in order to get out of that glitch.

3 things I did differently on the try it worked:

1. Playing in Windowed mode

2. opening Origin Overlay in cutscene

3. DISENGAGE the fight the moment the boss went down

I picked a different dialogue option.  Not sure if that's why it worked though.
