I have been reading reports that adepts have been nerfed to the point of being a chore to play as.

As I understand:

- Adepts may only use one biotic at a time, and must wait for that biotic to recharge before using ANY other biotic, eliminating the ability to "stack" powers.

- Biotics may not be used against shielded ememies.

-The pistol must therefore be used frequently. Apparently the pistol has also been nerfed, forcing you to take weak "potshots" at the enemy whist waiting for nerfed biotics to charge, while struggling to take down enemy shields to use said biotics.

As a lover of the adept class with a level 60 ME1 character ready to go on tuesday, this is very dissapointing news.:(

Your thoughts?

From the videos they have shown, such as the Adept video on this site, its not as bad as all that. They show you using Pull and Push one after another to lift a enemy int othe air and then hurl them hard into walls.

Also Adepts get Submachine gun I do beleive. Every class but the Soldier seems to get Submachine guns.

From the video I saw, this is not the case.  I saw the adept video and the player used their pull abilty to yank an enemy out of cover and then their Throw/Push ability to send the enemy flying off a bridge.

I think the soldier gets submachine guns, why would a soldier be denied a weapon class?

If you keep in mind the duration of most biotic powers, or their effect lasts longer than 3 seconds, and the universal cooldown is 3 seconds, you can effectively 'spam' your target with biotics without ever having to resort to any weapons.

I think you're overreacting a little, preliminary. Wait until the game is officially out and try it for yourself.

Adepts are supposed to be tactical. Smart power usage, not spammy power usage will be the key to success.

Obviously though you're going to need to choose party members that complement your role.

Adept is still as good as ever. the cool-down times are really short, i think throw/push is 4 secs and remember you get both the heavy pistol and machine pistol, it's going to be gravy

I hope this isn't too spoilerish. But later on in the game the "cooldown" on biotics is EXTREMELY fast, like a few seconds. Also this is why you bring along an engineer or even a soldier type. Engineer sabotages shields, then you fling the guy through the air. Soldier um... concussion shot? whatever it is called also probably packs a wallop against shields. Also all classes except soldiers? I think? get submachine guns which at close-mid range will tear through shields pretty quickly. Also I heard someone around these parts say that pistols pack quite a punch as well. It will be interesting to see for sure.

I actually like this style much more to be honest. It forces you to actually use your team's abilities in tandem rather than basically "soloing" the game like i did in mass effect 1.

The only thing that looks disappointing to me is that Singularity as a power has been nerfed, and won't be as powerful as before.

It's still got its role as a damn useful CC.

Singularity + Shockwave, anyone?

I also am concerned about this class OP. After hearing from another post from someone who's in the process of playing the game as an adept, I'm worried about the range of singularity as well as how much more dependent you need to be on your squad for taking shields down (what if they're dead?). I guess we'll just have to see though...

How did it get nerfed? To be honest I really couldn't stand playing anything but soldier in ME1 because I had to have my health regen and heavy armor, so my experience with biotics in ME1 was basically nil.

The old adept definitely suffered from wait for all your cooldowns before going into combat, spam them, wait, repeat. If this fixes that it should be more fun.

If anyone wants spoilers on how this stuff works just pm me. I don't want to ruin anything for the innocents. I feel so inclined to answer alas I shall not.

I think I heard someone say that warp is supposedly good against shields. Don't quote me on that though >_>

Anyway, I also plan on playing as an Adept, and I think it'll be a great experience. You shouldn't be worried about whether or not they're nerfed. I think it'll be fine =)

i think biotics work with a universal cooldown now. like you use throw, it has a 3 second cool down, so you have to wait 3 seconds to use your next ability. if pull is 6 seconds then you have to wait 6 seconds to use the next ability.

i dont like having to shred armor or shields in order to use my biotics tho. im not too worried about it tho since "adepts are the best at killing enemies without firing a shot" supposedly.

I have a bad feeling about not being able to use your bioticts against shielded enemeys sans singularity.

Don't worry, adepts have ways around shields.

The Developers stated in the Xfire live stream interview that they have shortened cooldowns significantly for all classes. They dont want you to constantly waiting for cooldowns, they want you to always be using your powers. The vidoe showed a near constant use of powers compared to ME1

I really dont think you have anything to worry about.

By the way, who is this they, who wree telling you about how the game was? Because what you have stated goes against just about EVERYTHING anyone who got the game early, is saying about the game.
