The text is also made considerably harder to read because it is a small-caps font.

Yes!
Too small and all in upper case or capital letters!
Why?
Easy to change and way better reading with a bigger font, upper lower case!
Just build an option to scale your own fontsize...

Is there some direct and formal channel we can communicate these issues to Bioware aside from this forum? It's such a frustrating issue but I am glad I'm not the only one

Same problem here, using a PC with 50" Samsung DLP TV,  Have to roll my chair to six foot a way to read the codex, and journal, etc.  If keep playing this close to my screen, I'm gonna have a sweet basement tan.

The only issue I have with the font is that it is in ALL CAPS.  Things are extremely difficult to read in all caps after a while.  It's straining.

I'm playing on PC, 1920x1080 on a 27" IPS monitor .. the font is unnecessarily large for me, and there is so much unused screen space that could have been used for an expanded inventory, etc.

I'm deaf and subtitles and good lettering is very important to my experience, and DAI's subtitling and lettering is far too tiny for me to read. No matter how close I sit to the TV, the subtitles are still illegible with and without my corrective glasses. This is appalling, they really should know better by now because KOTOR all the way to ME3 had good subtitling and lettering.

same issue here with tiny fonts. the only other game that gave me this kind of issue was Skyrim, but only in a couples places, which I managed to resolve by tweaking the actual TV's display settings a bit. DA:I font looks even smaller and much, much more widespread in the game.

I am hoping a future (and soon) patch can provide us with font size controls in Options.

some text is just unreadable

Same problem here.  I've played every Bioware game and they're my favorite developer, and was incredibly excited for DA Inquisition.  But I just can't play the game.  I'm sitting 2 feet away from the TV, and have to squint to read the text in every interaction.  Unfortunately I'm going to have to shelf the game.  Very disappointing.

For what its worth, a similar thing happened with Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts for the 360 a few years back (text was impossible to read on regular sized tvs), and they ended up patching it six months (ish) later, adding in an option for font size.  So there's hope.

Hopefully someone from Bioware can at least comment on whether a patch might be possible in the future?

Either way, I can't play what I was expecting to be my main video game diversion over the holiday break, and I'm going to have to pass on to friends, that were thinking about asking for the game for Christmas, not to bother (and stick to Far Cry 4 I guess).

Agreed. It's kind of made the game a nightmare.

Is there any chance of escalating this issue? Surely it must be in the interest of Bioware's story writers to be able to read their lore.

Like those 2 page loading messages that disappear when you're halfway through... I started using the PS4 share button screen shots just to be able to read those.

Not trying to dismiss you, but it's too small a number of people for them to really bother with it. Also any kind of fix would harm the experience for everyone else, who have HDTVs, larger TVs or monitors. Implementing a font size toggle would be even more work.

This has been annoying.. Please add an option to increase the font size for the codex/subtitles. I am sitting 8 feet away on a 50 inch LED TV with 20/20 vision and I have to move a few feet closer to read it. If there is a fight happening or cut scene, fade it out till it's over. And if the font is too big, allow an option to scroll the codex so that it does not consume the entire screen.

This should be fixed. Lot of PS3 and XBOX360 players have this issue. HDTV's and HDM1 cables don't help.

Add me to the list of people having trouble with the font size.  I get up early to play for awhile and needed the text so I don't wake up my husband and because sometimes the sound is wonky and I can catch what I missed with the text.  Well, I could If it were large enough to read.  A nice choice of size would help a lot..

That's literally not possible. I have a smaller TV, sit further away, and I can read it fine. And I definitely don't have better-than-20/20 vision.

50" TV, also about 8' away, and PS4. The uppercase font definitely makes things hard to read, coupled with the small size. The hardest for me to read is the item stats when crafting, I really have to squint.

Wish I was here to say that Bioware had offered a patch or the like, but I'm not. Just here to agree with most of the previous posts. I've played on a 50" HD TV and cannot read the text. I also have played on my SD projector, screen size 7' x 5' or so. Cannot read. The game is barely enjoyable, which pains me to say in that I've been waiting 3 years for it to arrive.

Here's a chat transcript from a minute ago:

Dhruv: Thanks for contacting EA Customer Experience, my name is Dhruv. How may I assist you today?
Dhruv: Firstly I would like to apologize for the wait time.
you: No problem
Dhruv: Alright.
you: I can't read the text in the game. This makes for a terrible gaming experience, needless to say. Do you expect that there will be a patch or something to address the known issue?
Dhruv: I apologize for the technical difficulties that you've been facing with the game. I'll do my best to figure out a solution for you.
Dhruv: May I know your name?
you: Ok, thank you.
you: Bonnie
Dhruv: Hi Bonnie, it's pleasure meeting you. How are you doing?
you: Not very good since I cannot enjoy the game that I have been waiting for since Dragon Age 2. lol
Dhruv: Alright, I understand this.
Dhruv: Have you done any troubleshooting earlier?
you: I have so far only read forums of a lot of people complaining that they cannot read the text. Some are on PC's, others have HDTVs, others SDTVs
Dhruv: I understand how disappointing it is. Some of the customers have reported this issue. Our developers are aware of it and are working for a resolution. We appreciate your time.
you: I'm happy to know that the dev's are working on a solution. I didn't realize they heard the complaints. I hope that the company issues a statement of some sort.
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to jujucatty@gmail.com at the end of your chat session.
Dhruv: Our Studio has been taking special efforts to come up with a permanent fix so that we don’t have to deal with this again. I apologize for the delay.
you: Thanks for letting me know. Seriously.
Dhruv: I appreciate your patience. Thank you for being so understanding.
Dhruv: Pleasure is all mine.
you: Have a good weekend.
Dhruv: Thank you for contacting EA, Is there anything else I can help you with today?
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to jujucatty@gmail.com at the end of your chat session.

The text is so goddamn small I literally have no idea what any of the War Table missions even are. I just pick whichever advisor seems the least busy. "Ey Cullen, you're not really doing anything right now so take care of whatever this is."

Font is too small -  I have a PS4 and a 43 inch flat screen. If you sit any distance away - you cant see it very well at all.... have to do a lot of eye squinting and running up to the TV.

Is this a easy (patchable) fix?
