How to unlock Specializations

 

 

 

Spoiler

After arriving at Skyhold, complete the Specializations for the Inquisitor operation on the war table to summon three trainers. Each trainer offers a unique quest, requiring you to collect a number of items. Upon the completion of a quest you have the opportunity to choose the associated specialization. You can only choose one specialization, even if you’ve completed all three quests. So be sure to review the abilities associated with each discipline before you settle on a specialization.  

 

 

Rogue

 

 

 

 

Way of the Artificer

Spoiler

Class: Rogue  

Quest Giver: Three-Eyes  

Description: Construct the proper tools, study the methods to use them, and Three-Eyes will reveal the secret of the trap-laying Artificer specialization. Alpha quillback spines may be found at Nazaire’s Pass, The Canyons, and near Old Prison Road in the Western Approach. Readings can be found among the belongings of Varric or, if those are unavailable, among the wares of the book merchant in Val Royeaux.  

Requirements: Complete Specializations for the Inquisitor operation on the war table in Skyhold.  

Reward: Artificer specialization  

Objectives:  

• Acquire writing on artificer methods.
• Acquire three alpha quillback spines.
• Acquire 20 obsidian.
• Gather materials to construct tools.

 

 

 

Way of the Assassin

Description: Craft a proper knife, study the methods required to wield it, and Heir will reveal the secrets of the Assassin specialization. Guild leader tokens may be found at the East Side Hills, The Flats, and the Black Fens in Crestwood. Readings can be found among the belongings of Cole or, if those are unavailable, among the wares of the book merchant in Val Royeaux.  

Requirements: Complete Specializations for the Inquisitor operation on the war table in Skyhold.  

Reward: Assassin specialization  

Objectives:  

• Acquire writing on assassin methods.
• Acquire three assassin guild leader tokens.
• Acquire 20 deathroot.

Fight champions for their heraldic symbols at Ghilan’nain’s Grove, Halin’sulahn, and the Desolate Bank of the Exalted Plains. Readings can be found among the belongings of Blackwall or, if those are unavailable, among the wares of the book merchant in Val Royeaux.

Reward: Champion specialization  

Objectives:  

• Acquire writing on champion methods.
• Duel three champions for heraldry.
• Acquire 20 veridium.

Description: Gather the materials to infuse a dragon’s blood, study the methods to prepare it properly, and Breaker Thram will reveal the secrets of the punishing Reaver specialization. Kill rivals to claim infusion primers at the East Side Hills, the Flats, and the Black Fens in Crestwood. Readings can be found among the belongings of Iron Bull or, if those are unavailable, among the wares of the book merchant in Val Royeaux.  

Requirements: Complete Specializations for the Inquisitor operation on the war table in Skyhold.  

Reward: Reaver specialization  

Objectives:  

• Acquire writing on reaver methods.
• Acquire three infusion primers.
• Acquire 50 rashvines.
• Gather materials to infuse blood.

Take the essence from wisps at the Old Thoroughfare, the Weeping Spires, and Granite Point in the Fallow Mire. Readings can be found among the belongings of Vivienne or, if those are unavailable, among the wares of the book merchant in Val Royeaux.

Reward: Knight-Enchanter specialization  

Objectives:  

• Acquire writing on knight-enchanter methods.

Readings can be found among the belongings of Dorian or, if those are unavailable, the wares of the book merchant in Val Royeaux.

Also every class has different attribute points in the beginning but not only that there's even difference in other stats i.e

 

 

Critical Bonus Damage: Archer has 41% and Dual Wield 53%.

When do you get the relevant Operation?

This would be great if we knew what an infusion primer was, for Reaver. But it doesnt put any notification on the map of Crestwood, where apparently whatever it is, can be found. I still don't know what I'm even looking for. Am I supposed to kill dragons and where on the map are these locations?

It'd be great if they put quest markers on maps for these, in general. I'm trying to do Tempest and I've only found one damn Essence Containment Apparatus in the Storm Coast, on Apostate's Landing. I know I need to go to the Long River and Storm's Solitude areas for the others, but I've no idea nor any indicators of where to look in these areas. I'm tired of killing time wandering around when I have other quests I want to move on to. Any idea where the other demons are?

When you got the book for Tempest, did it get check marked on your checklist? Because when I got mine for Reaver, nothing happened, but it acknowledged I got it.

I can't find those skulls. I just can't. I have 1 maker knows from where and I can't find the others.

It happened to be near one of the star chart puzzle things, so I assumed that was the case for all of them. I checked the others in the named areas, no such luck. All I know is that the other two are somewhere in The Long River and Storm's Solitude areas. I've got nothing else to go on.

So, high level enemies, huh? Maybe that's what we need to do. If only they would clarify this. Ugh.

I'm working towards the Knight-Enchanter specialization, I've been to all three locations for Wisp Essence and killed atleast 20 Wraiths and when they drop something the only thing I've gotten are Dreamer Rags and Spirit Essence, is this bugged or am I killing the wrong enemy?

When, exactly, does the "Specializations for the Inquisitor" operation unlock on the war table?

All the Prima guide says is "Available at Skyhold", and everything else I can find online says "Once you arrive at Skyhold" or something similar.

Well, I'm at Skyhold, and I can't find "Specializations for the Inquisitor" anywhere on the war table.

Tempest Question: So I have the spirit essence but only one apparatus. I am so confused, and spent a few hours trying the figure it out. I've been everywhere in the storm coast to no avail. Any advice??

Found this answer to the tempest quest by Gears120 at gamefaqs:

 

 

This is where I found them.

 

First fast travel to storms solitude camp. Once your there find the south trail and start to go down it almost immediately there will be a lone white tree on the left climb up on the rocks behind it and fallow the narrow passage up the cliff at the top there should be a group of demons not to far away.

 

The next group is a pretty far walk east of small grove camp or south of the hessarian camp right next to the stone tree landmark and an astarium.

 

The last one is a little harder to find if you go south from small grove camp there will be a little mountain right before you get to long river climb up it and go to the south side and there should be the last group of demons. Hope this helped
