Does anyone know where spirit essence drops? Been killing demons and closing rifts and not getting any.

That's indeed how the NPC is named. She's standing near the other two trainers.

Bugger, cannot seem to locate Cassandra's item needed for the Templar spec. She is always outside training and no belongings are nearby. I'm at Val Royeux and the bookseller does not appear to have the thing either.

Regarding the way of the assassin mission. Does anyone here know where else to get the assassin weapons? I only got two from crestwood, there is no third assassin leader there.

 

There are three; the one I missed is kinda north east of the first camp; you have to hug the map until you find a lake with a small building on it's shore. 

 

The other two are basically east and south past the village.

Any advice on alpha quillback spines? I have two, but that's all I've seen in the entire game and I've spent way more time looking for them in the Western Approach than I have any business doing. How often do these things respawn? Is it possible to buy them off of someone instead?

If anyone is having problems with the quest not appearing on the war table I had to set the quest as active for it to appear.

If you still haven't found it then while looking at her, go in the building to the right, the left has the quartermaster the right building is a forge I beleive? go up the stairs to the top and ping, you;ll see a book there and that is the Way of the Templar book.

If you are looking at Cassandra fight the dummy, then head to the building on the right, go up to the top floor and ping and you'll see the book.

I am going to say it now, but it seems there are two Specializations that make the most sense story-wise. Those two being the Warrior's Templar spec, and the Mage's Rift Mage. Unsure of how the rogue really fits in with all this.

Does anyone know if the specializations impact the story at any point? Want to pick reaver for pure damage, but playing my warrior more closely to a champion of the people, that specialization is just too tanky for me to want except if they impact the story

Some companion conversations change based on your specialization, but the main story itself does not seem to be impacted.

For those wondering where to find the Templar writings in Cassandra's belongings, when facing Cassandra in Skyhold you go into the building on the right, then up both flights of stairs. You'll see a bed with a book next too it at the end of the room. Thats what you're looking for.

hi kellax, u can find cassandra's book in the smithies room, near where she's usually practicing her sword skill against the dummies. it is on 3rd floor/highest one. just use ur search stuff, u'll find it

I got a Reaver specialization primer/infusion (whatever) by fighting a Reaver boss with 2 rebel mages in Crestwood in the south near the quarry. I was actually searching for the Champions to duel as I want to spec Champion. Apparently, for a Reaver spec, I think it has to do with killing specific elites/bosses to get what you need. I have the Prima guide and it doesn't say much except for what OP listed above. The guide shows little symbols on a tiny map showing where to go, but I can't seem to make sense of it. It stinks that you can be level 13+ and have no specialization unless you REALLY work for it and look for it. At least that's my experience.

Ya I tend to agree with this. I mean having to do a mission for them one time is fine by me, and I like that you can get whatever specialisation you want without having to suck up to the party member who knows it, but it's kinda annoying that you'll have to repeat these tasks on every damn playthrough

Try to do way of the tempest and im stuck at 2/3 spirit essence. I actually have 5 of the other collector items. However I cant get that last spirit essence. Ive checked/rechecked all the camps with no luck.

 

Already closed all the rifts in the zone. I went to the hinterlands and closed 2 hoping I might get it.

 

Am I bugged and have to go assasin or what? Any help.

For Alpha Quillbacks you want to be looking in the southern areas of the Western Approach. Basically the lower half of the map. Check the smaller trailers and areas. They don't usually seem to show up right out in the open. I've only ever seen one just wandering in the open. But I've caught little packs of them wandering trails and roads more off the beaten path around the edges of the zone.

For Tempest, the Containment Apparatus are dropped by demons who are NOT linked to a rift. So you're only looking for roaming demons who are not attached to rifts. Of which yeah, there should be three of in Sword Coast.

Yeah, seems like the "hard part" I have too much and the easy part is not enough. Do you know if spirit essence can drop in any zone?

 

The only quest I read that might have more demons is the varric red lyrium quest? I havent done that yet so im hoping there will be some demons in there. Ill save right before I enter and if there are I guess ill keep fighting/relading until one drops.

 

If not does anyone know how long the respawns are in a zone or how to trigger? Ive tried leaving/returning, resting at camp etc.

Spirit Essence can drop off of any spirit or demon mob anywhere in any zone. I'm a bit surprised you didn't get enough of them just over the course of regular play. I have 35 of the damn things on my rogue. Which I would share if I could.
