I am CONTINUALLY searching for ammo and running out in the middle of fights. I'm not that far in the game and i'm playing on Insane, but i REALLY miss the old ammo system.

Calm down, mate. He isn't posting spoilers or anything, he's just saying that ammo is hard to come by. Which is disappointing news - I was hoping that ammo would not necessarily be plentiful, but that you wouldn't have to resort to running out in the middle of a firefight so pick some up - especially since I plan on playing Infiltrator.

is it possible to stockpile ammo? Or maybe just not go crazy and fire wildly?

Infiltrators have their tech powers for a reason. Use 'em more, I suppose. Bah, a pity I can't help. Silly release dates.

He's playing the game illegally.
Believe it or not, there are a few stores that broke street date- including some services which deliver the game to your house.
There is no reason to believe he's not like the many others who are playing legit, early versions of the game. (Although, you're right. He's probably a dirty pirate who should hang from the gallows.)

Which is an assumption. If he's playing the Xbox version, it's likely he got it from a retailer who broke the street date, which happened with the first ME as well.

Still, those stores sold the game illegally, and therefore OP would have procured the game illegally. Just because it is from a store doesn't mean its just peachy to break the street date. Bioware set the street date for their game, and should have the right to protect their intellectual rights by enforcing that copyright against both pirates and stores. At the very least, he shouldn't advertise to bioware that he is playing their game before the street date when it becomes 'legal' to sell.

There's nothing illegal about playing a game you are sold. The culpability would lie with the vendor. In fact, it would be more an issue of liability rather than illegality. I can not reiterate this enough, If you buy a game from a store, there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing it regardless of whether release date has passed by or not.
This is especially true if your game is delivered to your house. Do you expect them to leave it laying around and open it on release day like a Christmas present?

Regardless of spoilers or not, or breaking street date, this isn't the me2 forum.
Last I checked this is ME General, which includes both games, as well as the universe at large. Until we have an ME2 specific forum, any (non spoiler) ME2 discussion goes here.

Given that it is a bit more than 24 hours till anyone but reviewers have copies of the game legitimately and that by the lack of little mark below his Avatar means he has not yet registered a valid game code here that is an understandable assumption.
to OP it has been posted by Developers that the Sniper Rifle eats Thermal clips 1 shot = 1 thermal clip. This was probably done to prevent over-use of 'Sniping'. It will probably work better if you don't use a sniper rifle as your 'primary' weapon.
Also, Regardless of how you obtained the game over a day before it is supposed to be released and without accusing you of illegality without proof, as a courtesy to those who do not yet have the game please do not post gameplay issues (subjective) till after 'Official' release.

A single sniper rifle shot consumes a full thermal clip.
Use your other weapons and powers more.

that's irrelevant. what matters is how much reserve each weapon has. if the sniper rifle only has 5 in reserve then it's going to be a problem. if you have 20, not so much. the fact that it needs to reload after each shot is meaningless.

Wow. Interesting logic. Since you seem so apt at making hypothesizing about how a person aquired the game, allow to make my own.
If, say,a vendor delivered the game to his house early, should he or she what to play until the "street date"? Suppose he or she walked into a mom and pop store and saw it on the shelf? Should that person come back to the store on the "street date"? I say your karma must be good and get so lucky. GameStop breaks street date all the time (Demigod, MW2) and publishers aren't pulling their titles. Seems like sour grapes to me.

No it isn't?
A thermal clip is essentially a reload. Thermal clips are shared across guns. Ergo, if he's running out of ammo he needs to be using less thermal clips by sniping less.
