A thermal clip is essentially a reload. Thermal clips are shared across guns. Ergo, if he's running out of ammo he needs to be using less thermal clips by sniping less.
This is why I have a problem with thermal clips... I thought sentinels were supposed to be all long range combat?

Of course you're running out of ammo.
A single sniper rifle shot consumes a full thermal clip.
Use your other weapons and powers more.
that's irrelevant. what matters is how much reserve each weapon has. if the sniper rifle only has 5 in reserve then it's going to be a problem. if you have 20, not so much. the fact that it needs to reload after each shot is meaningless.
No it isn't?
A thermal clip is essentially a reload. Thermal clips are shared across guns. Ergo, if he's running out of ammo he needs to be using less thermal clips by sniping less.
the second heavy pistol reloads 4 times till completely out of ammo. the second smg reloads 10 times. the same amount of clips fills them both to full. when you pick up clips the ammo is distributed to the max across each weapon. the ammo is NOT shared when using it.

1. Pick your shots (always go for the head/weak point for MASSIVE DAMAGE!!!!)
2. The Sniper Rifle doesn't seem to have the ammo capacity to be a main weapon (i.e. use it to take out a few dudes, or wear down a big guy, then grab an SMG or Pistol and go in close).
3. Spam your powers like there's no tomorrow (and use cloaking liberally).

Calm down, mate. He isn't posting spoilers or anything, he's just saying that ammo is hard to come by. Which is disappointing news - I was hoping that ammo would not necessarily be plentiful, but that you wouldn't have to resort to running out in the middle of a firefight so pick some up - especially since I plan on playing Infiltrator.
He's playing the game illegally.
Well it is a civil matter. He really hasn't broken any law.

It was specifically mentioned that clips are pretty easy to come by at normal levels and that if you didn't play stupidly you'd be fine. OP is not only playing on Insanity...he seems to be obsessed with sniping. Christina Norman basically said in that xfire stream thingy last week that it would be silly if someone could snipe their way all the way through a level (hence the limited shots presumably), soooo OP should use sniping more judiciously and/or utilize his fraking abilities.
QFT my first playthrough will be with my Infiltrator, granted it will probably either be at Normal or Veteran difficulty level but after the aforementioned stream I know not to expect to be able to pummel away with my sniper rifle all the time and will be using my other skills to the max, specially cloak.

staying far back and relentlessly sniping everyone out of range is game-breaking. was a smart move.
Then why even have the sentinel class, if he is supposed to do just that. Not everything has to be gears of war.

sentinel uses pistols or smg. the infiltrator class can stay back and snipe perfectly fine. they just can't kill entire maps without being touched.

How is the sentinel supposed to be a "sniper only" class?
Infiltrator
When did they ever say that Infiltrator is a "sniper only" class?
Try to be more versatile OP.

Usually there are tons of thermal clips laying around right after, so not really a problem personally.

Believe it or not, there are a few stores that broke street date- including some services which deliver the game to your house.
There is no reason to believe he's not like the many others who are playing legit, early versions of the game. (Although, you're right. He's probably a dirty pirate who should hang from the gallows.)
Still, those stores sold the game illegally, and therefore OP would have procured the game illegally. Just because it is from a store doesn't mean its just peachy to break the street date. Bioware set the street date for their game, and should have the right to protect their intellectual rights by enforcing that copyright against both pirates and stores. At the very least, he shouldn't advertise to bioware that he is playing their game before the street date when it becomes 'legal' to sell.
Grow up, for gods sake. You don't know anything about it. Your just guessing he is playing it Illegally. Who cares just worry abuout yourself.

#2 I dont see how any of what i said is a spoiler since the devs stated exactly how the ammo system works multiple times. I just stated how I feel about the current system.
sigh... Anyways, I didnt like the new system at first, but as i continue playing i slowly realized why the devs put it in. I basically makes you stay on the move, literally making camping impossible.
I suppose i am the type of player who stays in the back and snipes in most multiplayer and single player shooters.
I also believe that insanity is most of why i feel so confined though, as it is the only mode I had tried I made a quick assumption that this is how the game works. But there is plenty of ammo in other modes of difficulty.
