Some UI and menu screen have poor navigation for PC (and in some cases Controller support).

While the DA2 screens where rather bland, they were at least functionally good and better than what we have in DAI.

UI

There seems to be a lot of slowness to the game. A delay before tooltips show up, waiting for the looting animation to finish before you actually loot, turning speed is slow etc. All these are annoyances and could be instant. Right now they slow people down and gets really annoying fast.

On the War map missions screen when choosing between Leliana, Cullen and Josephine, enabling the mouse wheel to scroll between the 3 would be a good idea.

Would like a minimap option to lock North in place and rotate the character icon

The level up arrow on you and your companions portraits need to be lit up all the time and not just occasionally.

I really hate Interface screens which starts text halfway up the screen and had blank space above it, so requires more scrolling to go through......like the inventory screen, attributes screen and options screen. It's unnecessary.

There is a delay when hovering over items/skills before the tooltip appears......theres no need for the dealy, slow people down and annoys us for no reason.

Tooltips dont update when you scroll through items on screens like the inventory and buy/sell. You need to move the mouse pointer and then back onto the item.

Crafting and upgrading are seperate screens, and require you to move to another workbench to open those screens......pointless navigation and annoying when they could have all been on the same screen just with an upgrade tab etc.

The tooltips when hovering over skills (outside of the skill menu) dont show any info on what the skill does or the damage it does. Add this in!

Astrariums: Some of them extend beyond the screen. At first i thought there was a bug as some stars on it were missing. The screen doesnt adequately show that the screen can be scrolled. Also was it that hard to fit the image to the screen rather than having to scroll?

Skill Trees

Skill trees requires you to scroll a lot by holding down a mouse button and dragging to see all available skills, this is pointless navigation which could have been averted with better UI design. Not helped by the fact that nearly half the screen is taken up by your 1-8 bar and skill info.
Could have been improved, especially for PC where we dont need everything to be large.

DA2 had a far better skill tree screen. With it showing all the trees and you could click on the one you wanted with it then showing the full tree on the screen without needing to scroll.

And there is still enough space for the skill info and the 1-8 buttons.
You could also easily select party members by clicking on their portrait on the left.

Inventory Screen

The text for items start about half way up the screen.......meaning there is empty space above that so you need to scroll more than you should have to. Pointless navigation.

Armour, Weapons, Valuables, Accessories all have their own Inventory screen rather than being tabs along the top like previous DA games (which had better inventory design).

A and D if bound to turn left and turn right, rotate your character. Cannot rotate your character by any other means.

A and D if bound to Strafe left and Right, do nothing.

When scrolling through the items, the tooltips sometimes dont change to reflect the new highlighted item.

In my opinion the DA2 inventory (and skill tree) was FAR better. Less scrolling, easier to select party members, everything was slightly smaller so more fit onto the screen, Better navigation.

What are people thoughts?

Us PC gamers got the short straw here with what I hate to admit is little more than a console port.

NO question ... I AGREE TOTALLY.

Weapons and Armour crafting is an exercise in going from one table to another and you won't know if your improvement is better than what you have until the end.....

Why oh why is crafting so complicated? This, btw, is another reason why I never liked crafting.... useless and a waste of my time.

Yes.

But they could still have put just a little effort into making them more functional.

As i mentioned, the DA2 menus are far superior and if i recall right, were slightly different to the console versions.

BioWare is leading development on Dragon Age: Inquisition on PC, the developer has confirmed.

"PC is basically our lead platform because we all develop on the PC," producer Cameron Lee told VideoGamer.com earlier this week. "We have these mind-blowing, powerful PCs that are just incredible.

"So we develop on that first and foremost and then we keep the other platforms up and running to make sure they don't fall behind."

Also, when an item is equipped.....it still shows in the inventory list.....which i find really weird as most inventory system remove it from the list as you are wearing it.

Agree, console port

This does not read like something that would be confortable on console either.

A bad UI is a bad UI and Bioware is in my list of bad Ui designers, the CONSOLE UI for ME was one of the worst UI I've seen ( on console and PC), the DAO port on console was pretty bad too.

Their UI designers are simply not the best around ( to be polite).

Yup, thats how i see it too.

Functionally the DA2 Inventory and skill trees were good on the mouse and controller (from what i hear). I do find it odd why they changed they design so much.

A knife is the weapon I am most lethal with because basically I cut my salad with a knife every day. I have this mind-boggling knife set I bought at a discount, it's incredible.

So I cut the salad with my salad knife first and foremost, and then I make a few swings in the air with the other knives to make sure my melee skills with them don't suffer.

Unbeatable logic, no?  :)

Added bit about Astrariums and how its not obvious on some of them that they extend beyond the screen so you have to scroll to see parts of the shape.

Really it could have all fit on the screen too.

Minor issue really.

They probably built it on pc but used a pad to play it. Not that that makes it ok.

Pretty much.

The PC version of this game should have been free, considering how little effort they put into it.

The interface is terrible, I agree.

It's not even a case of "console port", because if they had just ported the console interface over, it still would have worked better than the current PC interface.
