Never, ever trust user reviews on Metacritic.  They're full of butthurt individuals giving out 0 - 3's because of one or two small issues, or fanatical fanboys giving out 10's because their favourite developer can do no wrong.  I have always found professional reviews to be the most accurate.  But even that should only be used as a light guideline.  You really have to play the game yourself to know if it's good.

With both player and professional reviewers it's the commentary, not the score, that matters. Either can be a source of useful information--or fixated on things that don't particularly matter to you--like Rich McCormick announcing that DA2 was the RPG of the decade based on his enjoyment of Isabella's breasts.

Maybe you need to stop acting like I simply detest the game and its developers. I'm upset not miserable. I don't hate the game. I hate the controls, there is a difference

I just want my 40$ be worth it. So far it seems it isn't

Also, happiness is fragile, only duty remains

I'm not acting like that.  You keep making up arguments.  So this discussion is over, I don't enjoy hitting my head against a brick wall, I was merely suggesting that you don't see these forums as a monolith of hate towards complainers.  I wasn't expecting a sort of Spanish Inquisition.

I have played everything from MUDS to UO and latest AA MMO's and to compare this game to an MMO is like saying a FPS is an RTS. Sorry but while there are general fetch quest (LIKE ANY RPG IN EXSITANTS EVEN ON PAPER!) it is nothing like an MMO. Those of you waiting, the wait sucks, but you will LOVE this game. I have issues with the controls and some of the not so "obvious" things that are personal gripes. Being this is the non-spoiler section I won't go into it, it is just how things are planned out. However even with my slight concerns and about 25+ hours into the game, I am just mind blown at how this game plays and makes me feel about things. Bioware did an excellent job making me feel like I am in an actual world doing something, exploration definitely pays off in this game.

Well I have a 360 controller plugged in and I could have opted to use it. Instead I used the KBM cause even though I have a controller I just prefer to use the keyboard. Is it optimal for keyboard? NO. Do I agree with those who say it is? No. However do I agree with those who say it's a deal-breaker, the worst ever, unplayable? No. I played 2 hours last night and I got relatively used to it and there was so much GOOD about the game that the KBM thing felt a minor annoyance at best and not a big enough one for me to resort to the controller. Now might I feel differently with a few hours more? Possible with the likelihood of a probably not. I think you can get used to it Chari. I am sorry some people have been too rude with their suggestion to use a controller although you might try one. They are not expensive nor awful to use if one has to. But try sticking the KBM out. You might find you get used to some things after a while.

"Get used to it" is never an excuse. It shouldn't be this bad in the first place

And no, i'm not getting a controler. What's the point of playing a PC game on PC if I have to use a controller? I might as well buy PS4 and don't bother with all these problems

I surely hope that Bioware actually listens to complainers rather than folk who shouts that everything is fine. Because, well, PC controls are not

It took me a while, but I'm finally into it. Playing on the 360 sucks, but even so I'm still really enjoying it. My only complaint is that the text boxes are too small and loots hard to find. Aside from that it's great.

I can't speak for people on PC, as I play on Xbox One, but I certainly agree wholeheartedly with this post.  It's a beautiful game with a vibrant, mostly open, world full of things to do.

Let me put this into perspective.  I left the hub world (Haven) to enter the Ferelden Hinterlands.  Lots of quests popped up, and I was impressed by the size of the map, especially when I assumed Orlais had one just like it.  Imagine my surprise when I found DA:I has something in the order of ten of these areas.  It's shocking to think of just how much real estate that represents.

The sidequests have nice synergy with the main quests, and always leave you with the sense that even small missions are important in the overall scheme of things.

It's hard to put into words how good this game is.  People just need to experience it.  I've always held Skyrim up as my personal benchmark for a great open world.  Even though it's early for me, already I can feel this game challenging that title.

This game makes me want to give up personal hygiene and whatever remnants of a social life I have left.

And after KoA I thought I was used to any kind of controls

I love the KoA controls (PC) and the combat system of it. Beats even ME2 and ME3MP.

User reviews on Metacritic are divided pretty evenly between 10/10 scores and 0/10 scores; there's very little in between.

I suspect that reflects the fact that, if you can get the game working as it's supposed to, small things like graphics won't matter in the bigger scheme of things while, if you just can't run the game at all because of the major bugs that seem to be plaguing a lot of PC players, then obviously everything is going to seem bad.

Roll on Friday!

PS4 is  7.4 Xbox One 6.9 it's only the PC one that is stuck at 5.6

What is it with this forum and its inability to accept critique? Apparently Bioware and their games should never be critisized and everything complainers say is blasphemy

People have legit reasons to be upset, many can't even start the game they have paid for

You're lucky you enjoy your game. I, for once, have to make myself play because of the terrible, terrible PC controls and some folk even demanded a refund. Heck, even I had to ask for a refund and then rebuy the game just to get English subtitles in a game made in an English-speaking country

You need to play with your settings. Tweaking is the key. I had serious issues in the beginning but now the game runs well and I can enjoy it.

Good controls don't have to be tweaked. Good controls don't force a player to "get used to" them

Good controls should be intuitive

DA:O and even DA2 controls were good. Why did they have to break sth which wasn't broken in the first place?

Psst. Don't tell anyone. I'm German, and I'm playing it. :P

WHAT????? Was für eine Sauerei!!! I am german, and I don't see myself playing at this moment, but browsing the net for some unbiased reviews!!!! How can this be that germans are playing this game already?!

explanation-i-demand-one.png

Anyway, for me, the more people are coming forth telling me how this game is so bad it hurts, the more do I want to play it. Don't know why. Maybe because from the first day of announcement of this game I expected this, and it amuses me without end to read exactly the kinds of complaints I predicted to myself...glorious sometimes. Anyway, it can never be as bad as ME3, so it's already a win to me anyway....

"Enemies don't interact with each other"

Actually, I have noticed quite a bit of enemy interaction while wandering through the Hinderlands.  There were several times when I would walk up on a bear who was tearing into either Templars or Apostates and I would happily stand back while the bear did most of the work - then swoop in and kill whomever was left.

Obviously, I am not sure about the rest of the interactions in the game, but it does certainly seem to be a natural hierarchy in the world and provides a sense that the world around you is going on with or without you.

See I don't think it's "bad" just "awkward" and yeah I think you either have to get used to it or wait for them to fix some things or get a controller or give up. I know my comment will displease you but meh I no longer care. Happy Gaming!

I wouldn't say "don't believe other people!"  Everyone's gonna have a different personal opinion.

But yeah, this game is bloody amazing.  Just some wonkiness with controls and the tactical camera feels weird, otherwise holy moly is it awesome.  The world just feels so alive and deep.  I've already had so many conversations with my companions and my advisors, and they actually ask me for my opinions on things.  And my character feels like an actual character!  Some of his responses are quite deep, or thoughtful.  The British Male VA does a great job of conveying emotions.  I am loving all these conversations :P

EDIT:  Also leldra I remember you being worried about being called the Herald of Andraste.  How are you enjoying the crapload of dialogue options of "For the last time, guys, I'm not a Herald!  Stop calling me that, guys!  Cut it out!"  Because I am enjoying the hell out of them.

And you've sold me. My favorite parts of ME3 were the bits where Shepard was allowed to express herself, something I felt previous BioWare games didn't have quite enough of (in other words, the main character was finally allowed to be as interesting as the supporting cast). If this game's got more of that, I'm all in.

I was going to try to wait until I could afford a PS4, but screw it. Bring on the storytelling goodness and shiny beards!

Yeah, this is a great game.  None of the criticism applies to me.  The game runs better than expected on my PC (i5, GTX770, 8gb RAM: mostly ultra settings).  I am happy they finally brought controller support to their PC games - sorry, but my PC is merely a more powerful console hooked up to my TV.

It is one of the best games I've ever played, IMO.  For me, DA:O is also one of, if not the best games ever and this is right there with it (part of my love of DA:O was circumstantial, which makes it tough to beat).

People are entitled to not like it so I can only speak for myself.

So far I have enjoyed it immensely. I have caught myself feeling tremendously bad for NPCs and at other times I have found myself laughing my ass off at the dialogue. Its easy to lose yourself in exploration and there is no shortage of things to do. Love the casting animations of my Mage. I like that my abilities actually FEEL like they have weight to them.

For me so far it is a solid 10/10

PS4 player btw

Cosigned.

So far my only real complaints with this game are technical, and thus far have been minor quibbles compared to what I've dealt with in Origins and the first Mass Effect, though I haven't progressed far enough to really get a taste of what a truly bad bug is like. But as far as the content is concerned, I think that the game is stellar.

Opinions...everybody has them. Doesn't make them right or wrong.

My opinion for this game is I'm having a blast. PC version and my crappy rig is not standing in the way of my enjoyment. My only real complaint is not with the game but rather my wallet. Sure wish I had the means to get a better PC so I could crank up the eye candy.
