I am enjoying the game immensely on my PS4. Definitely bought it for the right system, though even if I'd bought it on PC, I would've used a controller. My new PC would've been able to run it on Ultra but we have 2 in the house (and 2 PS4s) and I'd want to be able to play it on both in case my boyfriend was on the new one, and the old one would've been able to do minimum settings but unlikely it'd run well. So I went PS4 for consistent experience also for the Ds4 which is my preferred controller.

There seem to be only 3 big issues:

-some PC players have major bugs or problems

-PC controls, especially in tactical camera

-the Hawke/voice change bug

There are also smaller issues, like people not liking that NPC conversations are often not cinematic (the same convo option types are there in many cases, and there's still plenty of talking to break up the fighting, as well as I'd wager an equal number of cinematics overall but many non-cinematics have been added) or that they feel like then open world is a grind. I think a lot of that depends on playstyle.

I feel for the people who are frustrated by the KB+M controls (though part of me can't help but see the irony of some people who are way TOO into their PC vs. Console stuff and always say controllers are inferior and you will not get a proper experience with a controller - it seems pretty clear the "proper" DA:I experience is controller, sadly; I say sadly because I'd prefer a world where both control schemes were well done).

As to people who find it unplayable, after seeing PC players who clearly didn't meet minimum specs (so many people with dual cores I saw complaining)  complain it was unplayable on here, I always take it with a grain of salt. Same with graphics not being able to run the way you want - people overestimate their own rigs too often (not everyone). At least Origin allows a refund if it doesn't work, unlike Steam. (I'm not saying no one has legitimate issues - just that it's hard to tell how many didn't really understand what their PC needed to run the system the way they want.)

I think people who enjoy it never played MMOs. Since if you did, you would grow tired of filler timesinks which is what 80% of DAI content is.

I disagree... I played almost all MMOs and a few faithfully and I love what BioWare did here, it makes the world more immersive. It's refreshing to have a system like this in a non-MMO game imo

Fixed that for ya.

If you hate the game, then there really isn't any reason to be here, correct?

I have no doubt the game is awesome...ignoring bug on male being female and sometimes crash on ending of CC...it was fun to play these 8h before it crashed and after that I was unable to get in game again because it would show me "Black Screen" and sadly no matter how what I tried I still get that "Black Screen" cursor and music that lasts about 10-20 seconds sometimes even 5...and that's that.

I read this is common issue that many reported and it seems it will be solved in patch that is to come...I just hope it comes soon

I'm not sure I understand this thread. For those of us considering to buy the game who should we believe then, the people who praise it like its the greatest thing in gaming, or the people who just plain hate it. If you ask me both sides are biased, I don't like either one. I have taken a look at reviews, mainly the ones available at metacritic, mostly the detailed ones and mostly the ones that go from 5-9, none of the 10s or 0s, or the people who are out there "claming to restore the balance of things" because there are too many zeroes or what not.

Nonetheless, a pattern comes up in all of them, and that is the controls, the filler content, it feels like a single player MMO and that the story isn't really all that great. To be honest, I haven't made a decision yet, I'm waiting for youtube reviews, usually I think they put things more in perspective than other reviewers do. However, so far what my instinct is telling me, is to avoid this game.

It would appear most problems seem to be on PC. I play on Xbox One myself, and it works just great. It runs smoothly, no hiccups with Keep import, graphics are gorgeous. The combat system does take a while to get accustomed to.

Yup PC players seem to have biggest issue with playing...sadly.On PS4 it runs like smooth like butter it seems while on PC you are most likely to get gray hair before time from what I could read.

The concerns I voiced have either something to do with the story, and that may yet fail me, or they were about minor issues like the inventory.

This thing about the atrocious tactical camera, I would never have imagined that could be a major problem. Anyway, I continue to enjoy the game regardless.

I'm a PC player here and I suggest you take everyone's opinions with a grain of salt. The issues may be legit, but the awesomeness of this game is too! I have had mainly no issues whatsoever, but that doesn't negate the fact that others have had issues.

I personally consider this a "must have" game

The pc controls are not optimal and the amount of small quests can feel daunting and yet I've gotten used to the controls and the fetch quests, all of them I have gotten, still feel tied to the main plot unlike in other rpg's like Skyrim for example. TotalBiscuit put a video out today where he has no problem with the controls for pc and Angry Joe left an impressions vid where he stated he was enjoying the game. There are your youtube comments. You can dismiss anyone playing the game and having no issue with it as a "fanboy" if you want to but that's really your loss. I am enjoying this game so far and from me it would get an 8/10 to an 8.9 and the only things holding it back from better ratings are the tactics seem a bit fuzzy and some really long loading times i,e, optimization and none of those things are game breaking in fact the tactics thing just seems more like something I have to adapt to rather than poor design at this point.

Yeah I agree. Sure I had some problems with crashes on the PC, but now that I've fixed that it is a very good game.

It is hard to stop playing, I'm fully immersed.

I don't have any problems with the PC controls, but I have to admit that I play with a Xbox 360 controller. It works fine that way.

When they roll out a couple of patches, hopefully to increase performance, then it's great.

I did not say that they were fanboys, and in fact I mentioned I didn't like the overly negative views on the game. But this is precisely what I was referring to when I posted about this. The minute someone shows concern, then its classified as a dismissal of someone else's opinion, I've seen it in other threads, too, and threads that were not hostile, only asking for an opinion on the game.

You already had an opinion. Look at the last paragraph of your first post. I love it when people try to pose as objectively seeking an opinion when their own language gives them away.

"I'm just objectively seeking an opinion of this apple and I tend to distrust the opinions of both sides about the apple's qualities however everything I've read about the apple tells me to avoid it." See how that works? Try again.

The game isn't flawless - yes, the tactical combat could do with tweaking (mostly being able to zoom out), as could the overall kb&m controls, and I wish I could still move with the mouse. But imo the things Inquisition does right both outnumber the the things it does wrong and for me, have more weight. The game gets it right in so many areas that are key to my long term enjoyment and desire to replay - memorable characters, dialogue, lore, story, some good quests (yes, some filler too but I'm pacing myself with that very well so am not finding it overwhelming), a nice bit of exploration and things to uncover. Even while I recognise the flaws, I'm finding it difficult to be too harsh about them because there are just so many moments that make me smile. I'm biased, totally biased, I love Bioware games, but this is definitely my GOTY so far.

It also helps that the game is running very nicely on my PC so at them moment I'm not frustrated by technical problems, feel really sorry for those who are x

I see it is pointless to debate this. Like usual this forum doesn't fail disappoint. I don't know if I want to buy it or not, what has been said leaves me unsure. I won't waste my time here, since apparently the only right answer is to purchase the game regardless. Like I said I saw this same behavior in another thread, when someone else said they would buy a certain type of game in heartbeat but not this one because they got burned in the past, and immediately that was taken as hostility.

You know what's funny, you claim that I came with my mind made up, but this thread does this exact same thing. "Yes the game has problems but its still awesome so you shouldn't listen to the people who are worried about it".

take away the control and optimization issues on PC and i would have to agree up to this point.

there is a TON to do.. there is actually a gear and crafting system in the game i have to pay attention to.. and most of the rpg mechanics are there. though i would have liked to have customized my stat progression during level up.

as for the story.. so far not bad.. we'll see if it lives up to the other DA games.. IMO, DA is one franchise where bioware has gotten story right.. lets just hope it stays that way.

Agree.  26 hrs now. I adjusted to the weird PC controls.  It was really clunky at first but I get it now.

I did not let that mire my experience though.

I was 17 hrs in and still only had the original party members.  I started laughing because I realized I probably was only 5% through the game.  I knew how to get them but just was having so much fun in the Hinterlands that I delayed completing the next major story quest.

This is the perfect game for me.  Good pacing, tons of varied things to do, fun/frustrating party members and so far, an engaging story.

I was one of Bioware's biggest critics after the drop in quality of DA2, SWTOR and even ME3 (talking about things beyond just the ending).  So I am not a fangirl/fanboy.  They have delivered.  This is the sequel to DAO that I was hoping for when DA2 was announced.

For all PC users, I know they have changed things from DAO.  But like the OP said, don't let that keep you from playing an amazing game.

I think it's a great game! I'm playing every spare hour I can so I'm fully addicted. It took a bit to get used to but so does every new game for me. I also had the PC crashes but once those stopped, it's been smooth sailing here.

Loving the game, the companions, the story and even the fetch quests :)

It's amazing. I don't think I can ever go back to Origins and DA2 after the improvements to combat they've made here (bad AI tactics aside).

It finally feels like ME3 did where they hit the perfect balance between action and RPG.

It is indeed amazing. I'm loving the RP elements, the new combat design (no healing is working out great, and I'm playing on hard), and it's generally more fun to play. I find myself using the action cam a lot more than I thought I would, it's just really fun and the AI can take care of itself for the standard encounters (thought tac cam is great for harder fights)..

It's an awesome game, but it does a lot of things different from DAO, which gets a lot of posters going nuts apparently. But in reality, once you've realized that this is a new game with new systems and controls  (but shares the same depth in storytelling and setting), and don't try to force it into something it's not, then everything just clicks and it's great.

And if you're on console (I'm on PC), then there's not even a hint of a contest: DAI is better, period. On PC controls have some bugs, but the biggest problem is people trying to play it like it's DAO or DA2 and getting angry when it doesn't work the same. Because there are massive changes, and if you try to just play it like DAO or DA2 it just won't work. Play it like it's meant to be played, and it works great.

So yes, this is a TOP NOTCH Bioware RPG, way up there with DAO and BG. Well done, and you owe it to yourself to get it if you haven't already.

I'm 18 hours in, barely have scratched the main campaign and still have tons of side quests to do. It's beautiful and fun, don't listen to the haters. The 'Skyrim' comparisons make zero sense to someone who has played both games. What they've done here has recharged my hopes for the next Mass Effect.

5 hours in and loving it. PC with KB and mouse, playing on ultra with Mantle (7970's in xfire, 14.11.2 beta drivers), 50-120 fps, very smooth for me and blown away by the graphics. The tessellation is incredibly well done, every surface has depth. Easily the best looking high fantasy game I've ever played. Surprised that I have had zero issues. I put in the cut scene fix first thing.

I played and enjoyed DA2 in the spring so the world and controls are still fresh in my mind. No complaints anywhere really, just praise.
