I've been putting together a crafting guide, and I am now busily screenshotting and cropping icons for the many materials in the game. I would appreciate help from anyone with some spare time, just send me your screenshots or add them yourself to the site.

The core of the information is there, so it could be useful for anyone to check it out:

http://dragonage3.wi...fe.com/Crafting

http://dragonage3.wi....com/Schematics

Mini-Quote (Database is too big for a post):

craftingprimary_icon.pngPrimary Slot
  • Determines the base elemental damage of staves, or the armor or attack value of crafted armor & weapons. Materials will determine the rating:
  • Low armor/damage rating
  • Medium armor/damage rating
  • High armor/damage rating
  • Very high armor/damage rating.

craftingutility_icon.pngUtility Slot
  • Determines any core attribute upgrades to Strength, Dexterity, Magic, Cunning, Willpower, or Constitution. The higher the tier of a material, the higher each piece of it that is added will boos the target attribute. IE: Cotton gives +1 WIllpower. Using 10 cotton will give +10 Willpower.

craftingoff_icon.pngOffense Slot
  • Using materials on this slot will give a special offensive boost. Using complementary buffs on your weapons will yield best results, so bear in mind that this slot can grant you enemy armor and barrier reduction bonuses or bleeds and heal on kill.

craftingdef_icon.pngDefense Slot
  • Elemental and damage-"type" resistances are boosted by using this slot. Using complementary buffs on sets of armor can grant you specific resistances against elements to prepare you for some boss encounters, or can trigger reflect effects on enemies trying to hit you.

As with everything wiki: if you find something missing or mistaken > help the community by fixing it!

I'll get working on a weapons and armors database when I'm done with this section, so happy Crafting :D

That site is great however one thing it says you can get velveteen in Val Royeaux off a merchant....I checked all merchants 5 total I believe and none of them sold crafting materials?

You get the merchant once you unlock Skyrim. The woman who sells furniture sells Velveteen

We should add this to the page. There's just so much to add! This game is huge

Crafting guide looks nice, you're off to a good start. I have a question that has been bugging me.

I have crafted several sets of armor and some schematics create armor that has slots for upgrades and sometimes the crafted armor has no slots and no way to add upgrades. I recently made two sets both of which had a slot for a masterwork material during crafting but only one had slots to add upgrades after crafting it.

How do you know before crafting an item if it will have upgrade slots or not?

Thanks

Guessing you meant skyhold? :)  (skyrim is a great game also however)

But good to know thank you very much!

Do you mean the same schematic has given you both upgrade slots and no upgrade slots on the result? I thought the slots were tied to the schematic itself
Regarding the masterwork slot: this is used during crafting to produce "critical crafting" or add special elements to your end product, think of it as an enhancement to your crafting attempt. For example if you use masterwork cotton on your armor, you increase your chances to critical your crafting (+10% to final item stats) by 20%

Updating this thread that I'm working on the enemies and will soon be able to correlate most crafting drops. If anyone has any information on where to find certain materials not listed, please let me know or edit it in! :)

Adding to this that we are working on a schematics page to correlate to the crafting materials database, and we now have much more information on where the materials are what enemies they may drop from. If anyone has information that is missing I will happily add!

I would really love to find a guide with the locations of all schematics. I have sunk 60+ hours into this game and have been wearing the same set of armor for 30+ of those hours because i am unable to find new recipes.

Updating that I've added a lot of schematics, runes and pinpointed crafting locations - lots of people have helped to accomplish this and the database is looking great! :D

This, and the schematics I find don't seem to ahve any upgrade slots. I can mak a tier 2 weapon now but it's not as good as the drop item I'm using, and has no way to upgrade.

In fact I've only seen upgrase slots on dropped equipment.

The parade slots show up once you craft the item, they are not on the preview. I've crafted several items and most of them have had upgrade slots (weapons)

Yeah I meant I was looking at the finished product and no upgrade slots. Maybe I'm just using the wrong schematics.

I've been stuck on tier 2 schematics for a long time, when do you get access to tier 3?

Have you looked at the schematics page, daishar? You will find some tier 3 tips.

Also updating the thread that we now have more images for the materials and better pinpoint on possible locations

This will be extremely helpful.

I'm a n00b, I admit it. lol  Inquisition is actually my first Dragon Age I've ever played. I'm an Elder Scrolls guy, and have been since Arena.

But I picked up inquisition this weekend as there is a dearth of RPG's on the new gen of consoles (I'm on Xbox One). So far, I like what I've seen (though I'm still a lowly level 4 Mage :D).

But just cruising over the OP's links I think they will help greatly with learning the crafting system for this game.

Thank you for posting this, OP.  :)

Thank you so much for this guide. I must be looking the wrong way because I never seem to get the frost rune. Your guide makes it easy. Thanks.

Thank you for the guide.  What stats should I focus on each class? I have a knight enchanter and I have no clue what type of things to put on my armor and weapon.
