According to my TS DA:I "eats" 50-75% of CPU

What is hell?

Even Skyrim on the highest settings didn't do that

Of course Skyrim wouldn't do that. Skyrim doesn't have as much going on in a scene.

Depends on your CPU. What model CPU do you have?

There is a reason this game at the minimum requirements said a quad core.

Err, Intel Core i5 3350P

I mean, I know it's not the best model... but 50-75%? Isn't it harmful for the PC?

According to other folk I know 50% is not even that bad. Some complain about 90-100% O_o

I mean, I know this is Frostbite plus Devuno... but, really?

Why would it be harmull?

It can be only harmfull if your cpu is overheating and not cooling well otherwise you cna put it under 100% usage 24/7 and there shouldn't be a problem.

well you can lower some settings that are cpu reliant, like with assassins creed environment detail was cpu bound so turning it down would alleviate cpu stress.

Hell is a place on earth located directly around anyone who bought the PC version of the game, apparently.

It's this forum every time a new game comes out.

I'm not an expert but I think 50-75% isn't such a big amount that you should worry about. The thing you need to keep an eye out for are the temperatures and fan noise. This guide seems ok to check out as well: http://forum.symthic...hey-affect-fps/

The CPU usage is definitely absurd. And it's very nearly 100% on the main menu and loading screen...which are the last places I would expect my CPU to be taxed.

It seems to be on my system only reaching 100% when on a loading screen. Before that its still between 50-80, but the loading seems to be the biggest pull.

Which is NORMAL because that's what loading is about. Guys, stop trying to look for more trumped-up reasons to hate the PC version, it gives you enough as it is (like absurd loading times for the main menu, for example).

Thanks, I'll try it
Still, 50-75%. If this is due to Denuvo then... ugh, so stupid

The high CPU-requirements of many modern games are caused by DirectX 11.

DirectX can't handle the huge amount of draw calls (like 5 times the amount DX was designed for) in many modern games. AMDs Mantle-API and DirectX 12 are in part designed to greatly reduce the resulting CPU-overhead. The consoles don't have that problem since their APIs already allow the developers to "code to the metal".

That's why the Mantle-API gives PCs with older, weaker CPUs a considerable performance boost and the console can achieve a high graphical fidelity with low-power netbook-CPUs.

At least, that's how I understand it.
