First of all, you guys didn't even offer us the full gamut of hairstyles from previous games -- only the really bad, choppy, ugly ones. What happened to the shoulder-length cut with the braids? And why did you do this?

 

Second? You appear to have "filled in" the missing hairstyles with really, REALLY bad "short" cuts -- some that are barely different from the one just before/after it. For males, and for females.

 

Again, why did you guys do this? Frankly, the hairstyles you offer us barely have any that are "pretty," but you gave us about 14 that are ... blech.

 

I truly hoped that one of the things you guys would do was to give us more hairstyles than we'd had previously, but the reality of the "more" you seem to have set yourselves to deliver are all on the order of short/shaved. I really think you guys missed a huge opportunity here. I do realize that the styles you've chosen don't have to have any movement to them, but the ones that aren't variations on shaved do clip around ears/collars, so that can't be the reason you didn't offer the others. 

 

I'm truly flummoxed here, guys.

Mostly I'm just sad there are no long hair options. I'd love to see braids and long ponytails, for all races, both male and female. The character creation has so many detailed options and a few really oddly limited ones. 

 

Like eyebrow colors. Why can't I edit them separately? >.>

I was so disappointed in character creation. They added more really nice options but took away a couple of the already good ones. Like the hair choices! Why are there so many bald hairstyles?!?! Excuse me, but I feel like they did this on purpose, added to fact that I heard that with frostbite the game will be impossible to mod. >.>

Yeah, which is exactly why I didn't end up rollling a Qunari mage, as I'd intended. Truth, here? Character look matters so much to me that I've barely delved two hours into the game, because I keep going back and rolling a new character. Why?

 

The hairstyles suck. It doesn't matter how great I get her face, the hair is just bad.

 

Oh, and that new braided style they added, where it's all piled on the back of the head? It'd be great -- except they put the hair so far back on the forehead it looks like she's going bald.

 

I'm more disappointed than I can say at what they've given us in hairstyles. I can't fully get immersed in my characters, lol, because the hair keeps throwing me off. The only one I think I'm going to be able to use is that stupid bun one that ages her considerably.

^^-- The bun is OK but it looks odd in cowls/scarves/helmets with open faces. I wish there was a way to combine the bun with the bangs from the micro-ponytail (the subsequent one), that would be just about the only acceptable hairstyle =P.

What can I say? the only hairstyle I like is the pixie cut, but is quite bad (and overused, since is the only short and cute hairstyle). its seems burned plastic. worse looking than the similar (very sligtly similar, Hawke's and Cassandra's are still better) from DA2.

FFX's hairstyles where better implemented and it was PS2!

I only created a human character and the hairstyle is ugly and my character is female which looks even uglier...

I wonder who comes up with all the hairstyles. Maybe in the future they could get a professional hairstylist in to give them some looks. Unless they already did that, in which case... They kinda dropped the ball.

more hairstyles in a patch would be nice.  being able to select eyebrow color would be enough to make me happy though.  blond hair with orange or grey brows looks weird

The female human hairstyles are really bad. When selecting a hairstyle for my human female its like: Do you want ugly, butt ugly, or oh Maker help us all hair cut?

 

I would have been happy with several shoulder length hairstyles like they had in previous DA games and some new ones added. Running around in some hideous short hair style is not my taste.

I was really disappointed with the options I saw. I counted 28 total I believe, and only 2 were....passable. I chose the parted hair for an elf, instead of the poofy brushed back hair (the non-wavy one) and it still bothers me. I could've sworn I saw a short slicked back style like the elves have on Skyrim during a character creation vid on youtube. I guess I saw wrong.

I don't suppose you could make an update of a dozen non-suck hairstyles Bioware? Hmm? I was literally THIS close to making a Solas clone I was so annoyed with the hairstyles.

I think this is currently my chief complaint about the game, is the freakin' hairstyles.

Agreed. I finally settled on the ponytail for my elf inquistor, but even then I'm not a fan of the look. It just seems weird that the skins all have this beautiful detail to them, and then they dropped the ball with the hair. Brow color would be extremely nice.

Yeah I selected (one of two) shoulder length hair parted on the right for my character however I am not pleased with it.

I can agree with this. I had a hard time choosing a hairstyle for my elf because I didn't really like any of the choices.

 

Also, the OP gets a +1 for using the word "flummoxed."

I went back and forth on the hair options so many times that I think the slider afterimages are burned into my brain.

 

Brow colour and hair colour should not be tied together. I saw this gorgeous blonde that I would have loved to use, but then the eyebrows were either really dark or really red. So I had to change my choice, just to have nice eyebrows.

But yeah...funny enough, hair styles make a huge difference in character creation...and the females are pretty much all awful/short/butch...

 

I found the rest of the creator to be pretty good though.

I actually do like the chin length one with the heart shaped swept back bangs... But otherwise the choices are pretty awful.

This is what I'm guessing. They are trying to make us purchase the better hairstyles, later on. It's kind of gross and annoying just thinking about it.

 

If so, then I hope they bring out a makeover kit which allows me to change my look whenever I want.

Oh it is easy to stay in CC for hours at a time. I have a combined total of at least 10 hours in the CC. It's the face grids that take so much bloody time.
