Hairstyles are always crap in Bioware games.. for some reason.

I'm with people here, of the what? 10 choices? Only 2 grabbed me, and they weren't really grabs so much as "Oh, these are at least marginally better than the 8 others.." I think I settled on one with a small pony tail? Of course now I can't check because my game freezes constantly.

I wonder who comes up with all the hairstyles. Maybe in the future they could get a professional hairstylist in to give them some looks. Unless they already did that, in which case... They kinda dropped the ball.
EA Games owns the Sims franchise. Hells, they could port in some of those meshes.
ETA: Of course, this is EA. Anyone want to lay money on the first paid DLC being a hairstyle pack?
Anyone?
Bueller?

Then I got to a bit in the game where you customise someone else, who happened to be a woman, and I was sat there shocked at the lack of hair options. There was only one that I deemed sufferable and even that was a short crop.
Ugghhhh. I thin Bioware really likes these obnoxious 'high top, no sides' styles.

The hair choices are not good but I can survive (lol) with the one long style, hangs over one ear for my female warrior. I do like my DA2 look (below). Hopefully we'll get some more custom looks for DAI later. Speaking of weird looks, what's with the head shapes in DAI? I can get the front looking good but the profile view is ugly.

I am one of the few people for my male characters who likes short hairs for the males, so having more short hair options is a bonus, imo. I don't like medium or long hair on my males at all, ewwwwwgh. However, I find it ridiculous that there is 10 hairstyles and something like 4 or 5 of those 10 hairstyles are various buzzcuts. WTF Bioware.

LOL They also gave those buzzcuts to the females as well.

From what I've seen pretty much most (if not all) the males and females share the same haircuts. That's not an issue, of course, but it makes the lack of different styles that much more obvious.

Agree with everyone here... It's a shame to have such an amazing, beautiful game have such horrific hair options. Every cut scene makes me cringe, and I want to show helms just so I don't have to look at them.

Hahaha.
But then again isn't that the hallmark of customization every RPG. It seems like every RPG with character customization always has ugly hairs. It's like RPG developers don't know what good hairstyles are. But they know how to give woman nice breast.

It just screams laziness...or a total lack of caring. Hair is so atrocious in this game, especially compared to DA2 which had a very nice selection of styles, imo.

I'm very disappointed with the hairstyles, too. You can't choose the best hairstyle but the least ugly one ... and there is not one hairstyle that a real woman would have.

Yeah; I'm on the "hair styles are atrocious band-wagon". I just posted this in a different thread: I've created so many different characters because I can't find something that looks good once I'm in the game... ![]()
Bring back the cornrows!
I personally don't like the blood splatters on (at least) Elven males. They look like blush - not blood splatters on the face. :/

First of all, you guys didn't even offer us the full gamut of hairstyles from previous games -- only the really bad, choppy, ugly ones. What happened to the shoulder-length cut with the braids? And why did you do this?
Second? You appear to have "filled in" the missing hairstyles with really, REALLY bad "short" cuts -- some that are barely different from the one just before/after it. For males, and for females.
Again, why did you guys do this? Frankly, the hairstyles you offer us barely have any that are "pretty," but you gave us about 14 that are ... blech.
I truly hoped that one of the things you guys would do was to give us more hairstyles than we'd had previously, but the reality of the "more" you seem to have set yourselves to deliver are all on the order of short/shaved. I really think you guys missed a huge opportunity here. I do realize that the styles you've chosen don't have to have any movement to them, but the ones that aren't variations on shaved do clip around ears/collars, so that can't be the reason you didn't offer the others.
I'm truly flummoxed here, guys.
I think it might be because there are so many baldies among the devs. Getting back at us and all that jazz. ![]()

Agree with pretty much everyone.
Bioware has never been very good with hair, but this time they've really disappointed.
The CC is awesome, it really is, and the skin textures are to die for... and after spending hours with it I get to top that gorgeous face with a shiny plastic hairstyle that is so bad it's distracting. Most look like some variation of melted crayon.
The options for men are, IMHO, much better than for women. In fact, it almost looks like the female hair options were an after thought.
The hairstyles from previous games were far superior to our options here...and that's kind of sad given what our options were in previous games!

I wouldn't care as much but did they really have to leave the sideburns on for the woman? I'm not talking about some short bits of hair that hang in front of the ear. I'm talking about man-burns.

I've said it in other threads concerning the hair options both general and for the qunari, and I'll just say it here again:
What I don't get is how Bioware seems to be perfectly capable of designing interesting and good looking hairstyles for the companions / NPCs (see Cassandra, Josephine, Sera, and even earlier Isabela, Aveline, Fenris, Anders, Morrigan) but when it comes to designing hairstyles for the PC almost all hairstyles suddenly turn out incredibly awkward looking or straight up bad. (Save for some selected few I can count on one hand for Inquisition, and even those aren't exactly creative)
And don't get started with "but those are custom / noncustomizable models", because that is not my point. I'm strictly speaking about DESIGNING hair. They could have easily made that sidecut a lot more natural looking, without the awkward balding pattern and strange hair-parting. They could have made the qunari cornrows smaller and let them have ended in a bun. They could have made the qunari mohawk look like actual hair and not like some weird raised straw stuck on a strange slicked back strip of hair. They could have given us a similar closer-cut pixie style like Cassandra has, that doesn't look as though the hair is formed from spikes.
It really just baffles me. Because clearly they are quite capable of designing good looking hairdos. AND translating those designs to 3D-models. But for some reason, we see hardly any of them in the CC.
So yeah... I ended up giving up completely on my female qunari character that I initially planned and was IMMENSLY excited for. I couldn't even get her past the CC because the hairoptions were just that atrocious for me. Also, for my female Lavellan I settled for the least-male coded buzzcut, because none of the hairstyles really appealed to me.

THIS! I just don't get it!. I don't 100% like Cassandra's hair but I love it way more than the ones in CC. And sometimes I feel like my character is just some random NPC they decided will be the chosen one. Why do my companions get to be so unique? Why am I running around and I find random NPCs with the same look as my MC?
It sucks walking around with your companions behind you glowing so magnificently~! and you either look like a clown or a peasant.

It's just so strange how campanions have very interesting designed hair and then that gets thrown out for the PC.
I may hate Cassandra's braid halo, but at least it's unique! And Josephine's bun is perfection.
So what's the difference when it comes to PC that all the creativity gets thrown out the window? 10 various buzzcuts, that's all you could make work? That gigantic mess of a braided bun, where was the hindsight to pair that down into something less clunky and more elegant?

There were a lot of complaints about the hair and eyebrows after the character creator demo video. It does seem odd that the skin looks so good but the hair is worse than DA2. And I'm talking about the texture. Fenris' hair was much better in that respect. The DAI hair is chunky and wooden.
Some of the hairstyles look even worse because of the textures. Maybe that's why there are so many buzzcuts, lol. Anyway, I have to agree the lack of hairstyles is appalling. TBH, many don't even qualify as hairstyles imo.
In many ways the new cc is very nice. The skin tones are much nicer, the options to alter so many of the shapes and placement of features are really nice. I anticipated the lighting would underplay the intensity of my makeup and made allowances but even so my eye makeup is a bit more obvious in the harsh light of day than I would like but I can live with it. Next time I'll lower the intensity even more.
But the hair! Definite ugh factor there.

This, in spades. I mean, the CC-to-game algorithm's off, yeah, but still. This. You guys did an absolutely uhmazing job with face/skin customization. Why would you think we want to see our gorgeous creations topped with that crap you call hair???
