I didn't really care about the selection personally.

My Female Elf and My human Male hairstyles were perfect fits for what I wanted.

This would have been so nice on female elf, instead of all those buzz cuts.

What baffles me is that many of the longer hairstyles clip through the ears. And there is no shape of ear you can create that makes it not clip.

But apart from technical issues, the actual styles themselves are also just plain weird. I'm especially confounded by all the ones that have widow's peak/male pattern baldness for no discernible reason, making them look awkward as hell on women.

I have spent the majority of my time with this game in motherloving Haven. Can you guess why?

God this is like some sort of nightmare.  I can't make a decent looking character no matter hard I try.  IN DA 2 there was that one hair style for men that had the hanging hair on the side.  It looked so badass.  But in this game, every elf I make looks horrendous.  Absolutely horrendous.

Inquisition's hair has been the game's biggest problem for me. I have trouble even playing the game because the hair options are so awful, I just can't stand looking at my character for any period of time, really. I don't want to play a character with an awful style, no hair, or a buzzcut, why is the game forcing me?

It just makes no sense why the hair options are so awful. I've found the hairstyles in this game to be so disappointing that it negatively impacts my enjoyment of the game in a pretty significant way.

There is a severe lack of long hairstyles, and almost all of the men's facial hair options float off the face. The hairstyles that do exist are either buzzcuts, bald styles, or styles that look really poorly implemented. It even looks like some of the hairstyles were just cut and paste without much of an afterthought (see the many styles with a male's widow's peak for female character creation, and even a style with sideburns for the women). What gives?

The wierdest part is that Bioware has actually done decent hair before. Fenris had a great longer style in DA2, Isabella had a great hairstyle, Tallis's style was decent, Bethany had a great long style, and even Anders had a great looking ponytail (which I believe was available to players in both DA:O and DA2). We also had decent hairstyles that were used for Morrigan and Alistair, both of which are unavailable in Inquisition. We're missing male Hawke's sexy beard and female Hawke's sexy hairstyle is also missing.

It actually gets comical when you go pay attention to people as you travel in Inquisition. Almost all the NPC women have an extremely short cut or are shaved. Is there a hair epidemic? Does everyone have cancer? What's going on? I have trouble taking it seriously.

It feels like a huge step backwards, and I just really can't fathom why this is even an issue at all. At this point, I'll even pay for hair DLC.

Outbreak of lice I assume.

I absolutely agree the hair options for woman are brutal.  As I created characters, it made playing as a female in any race undesirable for me.

Maybe that's their insidious plan? :)

This is something I do not understand. There's plenty of games that have cool and beautiful hairstyles, and works perfectly fine with armor and clothing. Saying this because clipping is often the reason given why we cannot have long hairstyles. Just look at Tera Online and Vindictus, the later having many examples of how one could do it. And it's also an old game.

The female Qunari ones are bad.  I appreciate that long hair is hard with horns, but I'd have preferred it gathered up in a ponytail or braid anyway, which seems pretty feasible even with horns.

Which is odd since the Arishok in DA2 had long hair

I realize that modeling hair isn't easy. But it surely can't be that hard to make a few decent-looking buns, braids, or ponytails that at least give the illusion of length if clipping is such an issue.

The illusion of length...that's an excellent point.  Consider this hair mod from Origins:

yJJK4Z7.jpg

To me at least, it looks like long hair.  I mean, I look at it, and my brain processes "long hair".  But in fact, especially from the side and back...it's not actually that long.

It even fits heavy armor with no real clipping.  Some parts get covered up, but it still looks like long hair.

(I wasn't crazy about the vanilla hair options in Origins, either.  As it turned out, I didn't play it until over a year after launch, and by then there were some great mods out.  I've heard Inquisition may be impossible to mod...that would be sad.  Either way, I plan to give it at least a year before playing it, when all the DLC and patches are out.  For one thing, I've barely played any of II yet, which I want to do before Inquisition...)

I like almost everything about the CC. The lighting is excellent....

Ummmmmm are we using the same CC? Because the lighting is the major reason why so many inquisitor end up with wonky makeup.

The rest of it (minus hairs) is great, though I gladly would have traded all the eyelash stuff and the broken nose in favor of more/better hairs, esp. for qunari.

It would have been so easy to add more ponytails and braids for females ): mine will be stuck with Scout Harding and the bun/ponytail forever.

I made my Inquisitor a balding, bearded dwarf. I thought he looked cool.

I really enjoyed outfitting my custom female Hawke with red-headed Macklemore hair. She totally rocked that  :D

The hair styles are horrendous, the hair colours are bad. Black hair should be black not grey.

I cannot believe the developers let this into the game. I know ameteur moders who can do

a better job then this.

I had my heart set on a Stem lookalike, I at least figure that if Qunari would be a playable race that Sten ponytail would be a staple :(

Yeah, the Qunari hairstyles are particularly bad. They get, what, four hairstyles? One of which is bald.

All the art shows off Qunari with awesome long hair, some with braids, others with ponytails. But in Inquisition, you can't have a Qunari with long hair.

Such a huge disappointment.

I've been wondering lately why we can get various lengths of hair and skirts/dresses/robes/trenchcoats both with accurate physics/cloth simulation from Chinese/Korean free to play mmo's yet we can't achieve the same thing with AAA western games with supremely capable engines such as Frostbite, Unreal and Cryengine...

So maybe it's just me but all the characters in my game have SUPER reflective hair. They all look like they are wearing shiny hair helmets, and don't even get me started on facial hair. It looks like molded plastic, in certain lighting Dorian's hair turns silver/grey it's pretty horrible.

How is that game from 2014 could have such terrible & limiting hair styles? Is Bioware just that afraid to face hair clipping issues that they just plain, flat don't want to make longer than shoulder length hair styles? It's infuriating to see Bioware mess up hair styles year after year, after year.
