We all play the game for different reasons and we all like different parts more then others. You found the guns to be the most important part and thats fine. Just because i wanted a tastefully and immersive love story ending doesnt mean im less important than ppl who like the gun part.  Anyway. I won blabla etc etc

ah. i see you've made an attempt at maturity. you wish to lose further, very well. i never once said i found the guns to be the most important part. i said the shooter and rpg aspects are equal. i enjoyed the rpg aspects of KOTOR, particularly the coversations, story choices, and squadmates, which is one of the main reasons, if not THE main reason i played the first mass effect, which no one can deny, had mediocre combat at best.

and according to bioware, you ARE less important, because your love story ending isnt "IMMERSIVE" enough for you, whereas the fans who DID think the combat and shooting was the most important part were rewarded with a game that has shooting that is said to be second only to drake and gears of war in third person cover shooting according to the reviewers.

so, fans of shooters/mass effects rpg elements-win (or me)

fans who want a "tasteful and immersive love story ending"-lose (you)

looks like ill be enjoying mass effect 2 significantly more than you come tuesday. especially since i have the day off and you'll be in Ms. Andersons Remedial English by the time i pop the first disc into my xbox.

I just want them not to treat me like a child. If I have the emotional maturity to deal with scenes of violence, then I have the emotional maturity to deal with sensualised sex scenes. I'm not talking full frontal nudity (because afterall, the game would be catered to deal with a range of people, and not everybody can or want to see such content), but I want to feel like the adult I am, and not have my experience dumbed down so that even this part of character growth is treated with a form of contempt.



I don't want a porno, I don't want to see an x-rated sex scene (because that would be stupid... and possibly illegal), but I do want to see mature content in a mature game, be it from sex/passion/romance to scenes of my shepherd kicking ass and taking names. I want the complete package.

Do the sex scenes harm the supension of disbelief? I believe this is the only relevant question. In DAO they clearly wanted to show too much with too little. Underwear made the entire scene unrealistic, that's what sparked the disciussion: Either show it or leave it.

These scenes are only relevant in that they develop your character in a way you want. The hero that always gets the girl, the lusty scoundrel or duty focussed hero that has no time for women. These scenes then only function as a confirmation of your succes; yes your character did get the girl (sex always seals the deal in fiction), or got his one-night stand. In either way the scene is there to maintain a suspension of disbelief. The trick is finding the balance. Just showing a conversation afterwards might ruin it, a lengthy scene with Shepherd waving his love stick might too.

Showing boobs (cause im assuming its about boobs, always is) isnt going to make or break a game. Sure it's not what most men will be complaining about if it's present, but there's plenty of films and games with female nudity that are horrible pieces of crap. You're not going to watch/play it again just because their is a scene with boobs showing for 10 secs in a 3 hour film/30hour game.

Not to be arguementafive, but I cant think of one movie I wouldnt rewatch cause of a boob being showed. Now I can think of a whole ton cause of crappy acting, sucky scripts, no budget, ect ect ect. but a boob on its own doesnt break a movie for me.

But I kinda agree. Ive said often I dont need nudity in the sex sceen. ME1 did them great! But if your not going to take the time to position figures and cameras just right to not show real nudity, then I say yes to nudity over granny panties (DA:O).

But I still maintain (and this something ill be looking for im ME2), if I walk into a strip bar, I better see strippers, stripping. If you cant carry through on that (and they did in ME1) then dont make the location a strip bar in a Adult game!

As you said, its all about immersion and beleiving in the setting!

I haven't played the game yet, are the joints officially described as strip joints? Because if not, there are loads of bar chains like hooters, etc., where you are served and entertained by scantily clad women without all the nudity.
That isn't immersion breaking.

Finally, you can't make everyone happy. Whether or not you get to see pixelated skin should be PERIPHERAL to your decision regarding the purchase of ME2. You have no right to complain about this issue, imho, and doing so is just tasteless and pathetic. Go visit a real strip joint for crying out loud.

I can't speak for the OP, but for me it's about selling the 'concept of the world.' I want it believable and relateable.  I don't want to see hardcore smut or whatever, but I would like to see (and I haven't played ME2 either so I don't know for sure one way or another) stylistic LI scenes like from the original. I.e., it was 'realistic' without it being gratuitous. I mean, you could see that they were naked and they were having sex (or were about too), but it wasn't really rammed down our throats either.

It was rather movie-like in hindsight.

No matter how you slice it...It's still censorship. And it's rediculous that BioWare has to bend to the whims of the ESRB. Personally, I dont buy into the "violence and sex ruin the youth" BS but whatever they have to say to make themselves sleep better at night is on their head, not mine.



Personally, I think we should have the scenes more like ME1 and just go ahead and stick an AO only rating on it. And make said games so that if you are over 21, you just have to have ID on hand to show and you're good to go at time of purchase. And if you're under 21, you have to be carded for ID AND have a "legal guardian" on hand at time of purchase so that said content can be explained to them and make sure they are OK with it just to "appease" all the bleeding heart "Oh noes, my child saw some blood and a bewb in a game, he's going to be a murderer and rapist now..." folks.



But seriously, seeing how the scenes were in ME1...and seeing how they are in ME2...This whole scenario stinks highly of ESRB...Which in turn, reaks of censorship. Im not siding on OPs side because I want to see some boobs or whatever...Hell, I have a wife here at home. If I want to see boobs Ill just go talk to her lol. My complaint is "censorship" in general and how the US lives in such a Back-Asswards state that it's sometimes annoying as hell living here.

I wasnt referring to the boobs as horrible, but the film itself. You wouldnt watch a film that sucked again, just because somewhere in that film there's a shot of some boobs. Hell, if it's a good film WITH boobs, even better.
