I would like to know this as well. I follow @BioWare but I haven't seen a tweet from them since yesterday.

I am hoping that they are busy putting real PC controls in a patch but they could get a community manager to give us updates.

The game is out, they have your money. Don't hold out hope of any real changes in the ridiculous PC control setup.

I hear your frustration but I can't see them just letting things stand the way they are now. Everyone and their pet Nug knows the PC controls are atrocious. No excuses for that. Game is getting hit hard on Metacritic (I know...) because of things like this. My only worry is that changes might be harder to implement because of the engine they are using.

Can you specify a reason when you're returning an item on Unity? Maybe that'll shake things up.

Need to bring back the way the previous versions played. Using the mouse is the easiest and most simple way to play. Not to mention it is the format that all the other versions used and most of us are used to it.

Well, you only have 24 hours from when you start playing to get a refund so... don't wait the FULL night, I guess.

I implemented  Dark Souls style control scheme instead. Give it a try and cancel that refund:

If it works for me on Nightmare, then it should be more than excellent for general use.

It happened just like that yesterday, upon launch. Or do you think this just sort of slipped by them, unnoticed?

Well apparently Bioware disagrees. This is obviously, as someone stated in another topic, a design decision not a bug. YOU, and many of you, are not playing it right. [I am so glad I did not pre-order.] And there are a lot of you folks - almost 300 of you on MetCritic giving the game a User Rating of 5.5. Did DA2 tank like this on MetaCritic at day one? Probably not for the simple reason there would be fewer DA3 pre-orders based upon the disappointment that was the Dragon Age: Origins successor.

Assuming the Will to go back into the heart of the game mechanic is there to begin with - reference my comment on decision of design vs. bug..

I am glad I waited. Now my wait is over.

Still, to be honest, I do hope this game gets fixed for PC.

It's so ridiculous that the gameplay suffers because of controls issues. It's something I'd never expect. I was expecting rather disappointment similar to the one with DA2- too much arcade, simplified gameplay (well, that's probably the case here too) etc. But what I didn't expect were problems regarding DAI resembling weird console clone roughly prepared for PC version. I see that the game itself is beautiful, it's such a shame that they couldn't just copy+paste control and combat system from DAO... which was just perfect to me.

Still, to be honest, I do hope this game gets fixed for PC.

Same here. With slight difference- I pre-ordered the game months ago, I'm waiting for the copy to be delivered tomorrow and I still hope to be able to enjoy DAI.

As stated in thread- Bioware, please do something. I personally find it particularly silly to have the game criticized by almost all PC players just because of some sort of controllers issues. It seems so obvious to just copy and paste the gameplay system we all liked. I hope that at some stage the game producers will finally understand that PC players don't like games resembling console clones. Especially those poorly prepared.

I would suggest posting to the EA forums if you're looking for some type of response:  http://answers.ea.co...p/DAInquisition

Its honestly the same things we all been saying. Not b*tching about that hair dos but the way you PLAY a DRAGON AGE title! Space Bar is pause. Hold TAB to highlight loot and Codex entries, CLICK ON A EMEMY AND YOU CHARACTER WALKS OVER AND ATTACKS.

I am positive I am not the only person who did a 55 hour playthrough of Origins in the last 2 months just to get into Inquisition Mode on release. Canceled and deleted every bit of Warcraft on my PC even! Got the the middle of Chapter 2 in DA2 by Monday night too cause the combat is so lightning fast and awesome in that game despite the same city and coast line over and over and over again.

Never said it was a bug. Maybe you are correct.... I am wrong? Do I need a controller to expirience this game? I dont want one. I havent held one since SNES (im in my early 30's) Its just a adjustment I guess but its unwelcomed. Especially after recently playing the first two games...

Never played Dark Souls 1 or 2.

Did enjoy Darksiders 2 with a mouse and key board. Same for Kingdoms of Amalur reckoning. They looked like controler specific PC games but I did just fine without

+1.

Also, a small tip that helps me (just about) not go insane while playing my dual-wield rogue: if you rebind the auto-attack from the default 'R' to, say, 'SHIFT' (since the run-toggle doesn't seem to do anything anyway), you can attack while moving (SHIFT+WASD). Nice effect: That way the attacks gain a sort of mini-dash functionality like in DA2.

That said, BW, please do something about the horrible, horrible PC controls. Most importantly for me: Click-to-move, i.e. click on item on ground --> character moves and picks it up; click on enemy out of range --> character moves into range and starts attacking. Thanks.

So I guess they don't check these threads?? Shame.

One solution I guess is playing a ranger or Mage.... This way we can hold left click and R without chasing around a mob.... but a die hard melee player as myself will not enjoy it at all. Bad enough they didnt bring back DW Warriors....

I am so glad I am not the only one who feels this way about the controls.  Can't move with the mouse at all?  Ridiculous.

Nothing specific, but we did get this in PC community concerns:

With the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, we've been hearing a number of concerns from members of our PC community, including:

  • Driver support
  • Hitching and frame rate issues in cutscenes
  • Feedback on keyboard and mouse controls
  • General user interface optimizations for PC

We've been following these issues closely and are looking into them.

Player experience is a top priority for us. Our goal is to address as many of these as possible in our upcoming patches, including some in our next patch, which is underway. We’ll release further details in the coming days and will continue to monitor your concerns.

Your feedback is important to us, and we appreciate your contribution to making Dragon Age: Inquisition a better overall experience.

^^ That's good to see.

Quite a ways off from them actually fixing it the way their customers want however...

@thatgirl42  where exactly was this posted?

I know it's been said, but... once again I'm utterly baffled how this could slip past QA. Has absolutely NOBODY played DA:I with KB+M pre-release?

I'm having zero problems with the controls. Only slightly annoying thing is that it centers on the character you select in tactical view.

Whooptiedoo. I can live with that.

I'm willing to bet you 1 (one) internets that: You're either not on a PC or you are playing a ranged character.

I'm glad for you though.

Yeah. :) Try playing a dual-wielding rogue for a bit -- they really get shafted by the clunky controls. Mages do not rely on being in close-quarters, so movement is not as big an issue. But playing a rogue, it took me a LONG time to finally get a rough handle on staying on my enemies (especially those terror demons/teleporting mages... sigh), and my character still flails around sometimes stabbing at thin air just because the enemy moved an inch, thus out of range, and the silly controls don't allow me to close the distance because BW 'forgot' to implement a click-to-move function like in all previous BW games.
