Rubber banding is a huge issue, can this be fixed? Its only 4 player multiplayer... MMOs with 100s of players don't have this bad of rubber banding issues! They also have 1000 times the customization!
When I play my Archer, I am constantly rubber banding back to where I was - making my traits to move out of the way useless because it brings me right back to where I was!
Rubberbanding! The worst enemy...

I think it is a lag issue. Most games I do not experience this problem but ones where I or someone else has a bad connection or is lagging a little bit I notice rubberbanding.

It's because the player hosting has a lousy connection and should not be hosting. EA needs to use dedicated servers for this, but they don't.
At least this time around (unlike ME3MP), we can abandon ship and still get paid for what we did contribute. But I wish we could enable an option to avoid high-ping hosts.

I like the fact we can leave a laggy host, also. Perhaps this will be like ME3 in the early days when player base was small. Matchmaking put you with the closest host, which in my case due to my late hours, was sometimes Japan or Hawaii (I'm in SW US). Lag was terrible. Then when more people picked it up, I did not have trouble finding or being a good host. We'll have to see after holidays if this is still an issue. It's because the player hosting has a lousy connection and should not be hosting. So to answer your question "can this be fixed?" - Yes, it can. By either playing in a game with a host who has better internet, and/or getting better internet yourself.
You're welcome, and welcome to p2p multiplayer systems.
And @it is lupus - hold down rmb

So you guys are telling me of the 50 or so MP games I have played; every single host had terrible internet? And no lag could be due to EA servers at all?
I dont believe that.
I only had one host that was decent but there was still occasional hard rubberbanding and it was the only group Ive had that could clear threatening games.
However all the games had that annoying rubberband effect and the folk on mic often complain about it as well and including the hosts themselves.

I just started trying to play the multiplayer tonight. I am an avid MMO junkie and I can run any current gen MMO just fine... but this.. this crap is laughable.
I have tried four games so far and then I came here. Rubberbanding constantly. Can't even see the enemies half the time.
I'm going to give it a few more tries, but if this holds up... Not good.

Hey guys, are any of you that are experiencing this rubberbanding using the "60fps cutscene fix" that has been going around? If so, try undoing that fix and see if that resolves your issues.

This has improved things greatly... Still a host of other problems! Much less rubberbanding though.

The EA server shouldn't even be handling anything except tracking stats in a P2P system like what DA:I uses.
That said, the host doesn't need to have terrible internet as much as you just need to not have a good connection with them. Some games might be because your host is on the other side of the world from you. Alternatively the net code may have some issues.
Although it does run on the Frostbite engine. If that has bad netcode somebody needs to question dice's sanity and competence.
and for everybody else mentioning MMOs, those use dedicated servers which don't have many of the issues present in a P2P system.

I question why they are even using a P2P system.. Its not like they don't have the money to do dedicated. ![]()

A P2P system can work, but it really needs either solid matchmaking with a good number of players or a server browser so that you can see your latency to the host.

EA is the answer you are looking for mate. P2P style way cheaper to maintain.

Awesome! Great to hear! If anyone else is running with the 60fps config change "fix" please disable it while you're running MP!

Well its not really a solution to those of us who never had that 60fps fix in place. The rubberbanding is highly discouraging! I cant seriously only be connecting to people overseas. ![]()

I don't use any fix, got a character freeze on entering the match (I could lunge forward by powers though) and one match where the character barely gained ground while running (like rubberbanding in place) - everybody went to bunnyhop all over the place to actually get somewhere (that worked but looked really silly).

Its not the "60 fps fix" its something else, i have that fix and i play without issue, a friend without the fix lags terrible and we are in a LAN network, another friend is hosting outside the network. Its impossible to be laggin just for one of us.

I dont believe that.
-game isn't running on EA servers at all
-random internet genius chooses to ignore all facts in the universe and continue blaming ea servers
I swear humanity is getting dumber by the minute.

Can you explain why a company would use p2p if 85% (maybe even 99%) of hosts create so much lag?
I think you mentioned everything is smooth for you with limited or no bugs but that isn't typical.

EA Server handles the matchmaking, crafting, items, leaderboards, your account status etc.

So who do I blame for random disconnects? The hosting player, terrible netcode or EA's hamster?
