Ok, so I sort of have a little dilemma in deciding what gender to first play my Inquisitor as. For a while I was pretty certain that I was going to roll as a male Human Noble warrior, but now as the game is now less than 48 hours from release (for me in the UK), I'm now tempted to play as a female Human Noble warrior instead.

First of all, I usually like to have a romance in my game when given the option, though I'm only interested in the women (straight male here). I haven't decided for certain which one I like the best so I would like to keep my options open as much as possible at this moment in time. So as a male I can choose from either Cassandra or Josephine, and as a female I can choose from either Josephine or Sera. I've been recently watching some more videos of the game and I'm pretty sure I like Josephine (looks and personality wise), so she's definitely an option for me regardless of gender. For Cassandra, I actually really like her appearance/looks and I like her personality, so she's definitely an option for me. As for Sera, initially I really didn't like her appearance/looks, though now that I've actually seen her in gameplay videos I now like her appearance much more, and with regards to personality she isn't as annoying as I envisaged she was going to be and I actually kind of like her (although she does seem to be a bit petty to me, if that's the right word), so again definitely an option for me.

So out of the two gender-gated options, I like Cassandra a bit better than Sera. However, my main concern with Cassandra is that personality-wise I think we're going to clash on a few things (namely, that my Inquisitor is going to be pro-mage most likely and that he/she doesn't believe in the Maker/is non-religious), so I'm going to imagine that this will garner a sizeable amount of disapproval from her, likely making it harder to romance her. I think I've read somewhere that you can apparently 'hate your lover', but that's not really the kind of romance I'd like (I'd prefer that my love actually properly likes rather than dislikes/hates me). So, with regards to personality I think I'm probably going to get on easier with Sera than Cassandra.

Now, my second issue is to do with the Inquisitor's voice. I've heard the American (?) male voice and I'm not really a fan of it, though I haven't heard the British male voice (is it any better?), so I'm not sure what voice to go for if I do play as a male. Now with regards to the female voices, I've heard the British one and I absolutely love it (though again I haven't heard the other voice), so I'm pretty sure that's the voice I'm going with if I do play as a female.

Third issue is the do with my character's appearance. I've never really been good at editing characters' appearance to my liking, however I am usually much better at creating a female character that I like the look of than a male one. Any help on creating a good-looking male and/or female character?

My final issue is to do with my character's name. I like the default female Human Noble name, but I really don't like the male one and I'm having difficulty in coming up with an alternative one (I'm usually much better at coming up with a female name that I like than a male one anyway). Any help with coming up with male names (and female names as well, if you want)?

So what do you guys think? I'm definitely going to play as a Human Noble warrior on my first/main playthrough (that's a given), but I'm just unsure which gender to play as. Sorry if this post is rather long and/or if it's in the wrong section (wasn't sure where to post this), just wanted to get some other people's advice/opinions on this. Cheers.

I roll a female character in a lot of games, but I went with male in this one.  I like Cassandra's character a lot...fiery and passionate.  The American accent felt off at first, but using it on a scarred, smart-ass two handed warrior was a good fit.  Some of the dialogue comes off better in the American voice, especially the more "renegade" ones.

Tough call, but I'd try the dude.

Well if you watch Dawn of the Seeker, you'll see that Cassandra is very tolerant of mages. She only hates blood mages because they usually turn out to be the ones that hurting and killing everyone. By the end of the movie, she realizes that a lot of mages are just like ordinary people and want to just live in peace.

Don't be surprised when you roll a dude and everyone is calling you a dudette.

Just chiming in with I -love- the British Male voice actor.  He is so, so good.  So yeah, if you're worried about that, don't be.

@AshesEleven: If the British male voice is good, well, then that's good (one less issue for me)!

@Back Lot Basher: I'm not really a renegade/aggressive type in RPGs, to be honest. I'm much more of a nice and/or sarcastic player.

So, in the end, what gender Inquisitor do you guys think I should play as? My main reason for this dilemma is that I'm not sure who I want to romance - do I go for either Cassandra or Josephine as a male, or either Josephine or Sera as a female? Argh, I'm not sure what to go for!
