I'm having this odd problem with ME after I reinstalled it. Every 5-10 seconds or so, the game stops/pauses for about 1-2 sec then starts running normally again. This problem occurs as soon as I'm at the "press any key" screen. I also notice there is a very high HDD read/activity when I run ME.

This game used to work fine before on the PC so it's not a low CPU/GPU thing. I have pretty much tried everything I could think of.

Defrag HDD
Reinstall game onto a different HDD (I have seperate 4 HDDs)
Update drivers
Update windows
Disable background programs (including anti-virus)
Run in low settings
Change paging files

None of them work. Another thing I have tried is to run the game in windowed mode. It's interesting to note that the game runs fine without any stuttering (with no or low HDD read) when I select something else other than the game window. As soon as I select the game window again, the HDD read/activity starts and I get the stuttering thing again.

I'm using:
WinXP SP3
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU     E6850@ 3.00GHz
2GB DDR2-666
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 (1GB vram)

Hmm, is the game up to date as far patches go? (v1.02)
