Finally! These are -exactly- all the issues I had with my first play yesterday.

I agree with the OP. If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it. The PC controls are very clunky (I have to continuously hold the right mouse button to pan the screen--really?). It detracts from the game experience. The more Bioware tries to "improve" on DA Origins, it gets it wrong. At least so far, it's better than DA II--but then, that's not hard to do. Disappointed somewhat. May go back to ME3MP and wait for a patch.

Btw, can't you just hold the mouse button to autofire? I do that on range at least.
Also, nearly autoloot, get close to the loot (too close imo), click F, then space to "loot all". Not perfect but best I've got this far.

Harsh maybe, but a guide to fix some major issues very valuable!

You'd think.Harsh maybe, but a guide to fix some major issues very valuable!
It's not like Bioware community managers have given very much assistance on the best ways to communicate our issues for patching, so whether our efforts to keep these threads bumped in order to keep them visible among the relatively useless other posts is working or not is anyone's guess.

What I need is a mirrior to change looks. I quite like the editor and the theoretical looks, but it feels like the actual results in the game world is too different. It might be the light in the editor, or the world, but it is still unpredictable and inconvenient. Like my qunari that got a prominent chin, but still got a huge overbite and other such things.
I hope I don't ask for much.
Like others do I find hair lacking, the female qunary hornstyles got none with some solid mass. I guess robes and dresses are enforced for mages and won't change (they do not look so bad on humans I think).
I couldn't agree more with this. A good 20 hours into the game and each passing hour I dislike how my character looks more and more. I can't bring myself to stop and start again with a new character as this playthrough is supposed to be my big "do as much and see as much as I can and be a perfect as I can" one, but he just doesn't look like he did in character creator due to the poor lighting. In certain cutscenes he's acceptable, but outside of this he's just not the person I wanted him to be, physically at least. A mirror to throw my character back into the character creator screen would be ideal. I'd be happy if it was just a single use, one time thing, just please let me do it!

It was undoubtedly a design decision. Whats really stupid is that when this happened with DA2 console versions, there was a huge outcry. So now they make the whole game without it what do they expect?...........
IMHO there are clear conflicting design goals with combat, they want to graft action rpg type combat such as from Dark Souls, and use it in a more tactical party based combat setting. And they have not got it to work.
The answer to me is simple go back to what worked with DAO and DA2 making sure encounter design is done well. If Laidlaw wants to make games with that sort of combat let him work on another franchise which isn't so party based.
I loved being a mage in DA:II. Loved the force spells. Loved the way the combat worked. This? This is so clunky. Magic was elegant in DAII - a BMW or Jaguar. Magic now is like driving a gravel truck around town.

As someone who has yet to begin playing because I prefer to wait for a patch, but has messed around in the char creator for quite a bit, I would really like to know if someone has posted a set of screenshots comparing "in editor" shots vs "in game" shots of the same character.

Pretty much my experience as a mage on PC. Compared to Origins and DA2, this is a mess that needs fixing ![]()
Inquisition can be a luxury Jaguar, 'cause in a lot of ways it's simply a fantastic game, but am I playing it at the moment? No way, I'm waiting for patches - not just to fix bugs as in any game at launch, but to fix controls, balancing of respawns, tactics, and so forth. OP said it ![]()

A question from the sidelines: Is it true that you can´t save your game except in the camp/specific point?
You can save anywhere you like, provided you aren't in the middle of any battle...

Like I said elsewhere. The game is good. But the controls and poor PC performance keep it from becoming great.
Seriously. I had proper 60fps with Battlefield 4 with my gtx780 and here I can't get constant 60fps with a gtx980 in crowded locations with a lot of settings set just to high and msaa disabled completely. This is not good optimization.
One final thing that is very, very irritating is the regional language lock. Seriously? I had to buy the game for double the price from UK to play it in english. Are you kidding me? Jesus...
Combine these 3 things and the game is at most a 7,0 instead of 9,5 in my eyes.
It's increadible to remember that DA Origins was a PC exclusive that became a major hit and inevitably earned BioWare and EA a lot of money.
Please BioWare/EA. Look at Star Citizen and companies like CD Projekt to see what happens when you treat your PC fanbase right. No wasting money on stupid DRMs is necessary if you don't screw your customers over. Keep treating your PC fanbase as 2nd rate customers and it will bite you in the butt eventually. Don't bloody assume we're all thieves and criminals, optimize the games properly for PC and we'll support you like we support other companies that do right by us.
Seriously. It leaves a really bad taste in the mouth when otherwise a great game is hindered by stuff that could be easily avoided if this video wasn't just a blatant lie approved by EA's marketing department:

Another interesting thing I would know is what do you think about only 8 skills, as I am progressing with levels it seems to me that I would some more options in battle since my character knows all those spells why I cannot use them, some more slots or an ability wheel would be appreciated by me. Moreover why not to put a dodge option if you press twice the jump button it is really simple and could work well during action phases.

Just got past my initial good first impressions and the more i play the more those little things start to annoy me guess the magic/hype wore off.
Really this feels more like SP mmo then real RPG but thats not that big issue. Controlls make the game feel like console port and that ping to find items is making my teeth cringe why in 9 hells did they remove that simple and functional highlight items button and repleace it with this awful thing...
Over all if i had to compare this DAI to something it would be degredation of Mass Effect to pure shooter except this thing is slowly becoming pure button masher.
I have tried game on highest difficulty and i am not impressed, tactical camera is awful and really there was something in that part where you had to plan your moves and AOE from taking out your party. Tried to turn on friendly fire too in DAI but lack of proper info about range and over all NPC trigger happy finger on those made it into rather unjoyable experiance.

Noticing more and more people commenting on lack of tooltips, info, and data available.
That is obvious lack of attention to detail, which is becoming the standard here.

One more thing off the top pf my head is we must do chores in order to actually progress in the story. They said there would be no fetch quest and everything would matter.
Yeah, babysitting buffalo is not my idea of a good time...

If you're unhappy with the unusable tactical camera and painful PC controls, return your game. Returns can be processed even if outside the 24-hour return window.
I encourage people unhappy with the broken tactical combat and PC controls to return the game, even if it means convincing a representative from the Origin store. I purchased mine from Origin and am outside if their 24-hour return window, but I'm contacting them anyway to explain the issues and hope they're reasonable.
If a patch comes out which addresses even some of these issues, then I'll gladly try it again.
edit:
Origin customer rep is adamant about the return policy which limits returns 24 hours after the game was first played. Not a great policy for this case, takes a little bit of playing to realize how bad the combat mechanics are and that the tactical combat is useless.
edit 2:
Chatted with the customer rep's floor supervisor and explained how the gameplay issues aren't easily detectable by a casual gamer within the 24-hour return window. Took some pushing, but the supervisor understood and eventually gave me a refund.
