When you look at the key binding and realize that a single button is being forced to do 5 different unrelated things, that is simply a port from a controller. Because there are so few buttons on controllers they HAVE to make them multifunctional. And what makes sense on a controller, say the ( B ) button opened doors when prompted, ( B ) jumped when exploring, ( B ) changed enemies when in tactical view, and ( B ) swapped menus when in UI, (I doubt that's the actual order of things, but this is just an example of how keys can be bound to a single button) does not relate well with PC controls as we have (E) for opening doors, (TAB) for changing targets, (SPACE) for jumping, and (Scroll Wheel/ 1,2,3,4,5) for swapping menus. Because those are still connected from the console port, the functions can no longer be split properly to individual keys, but can only be bound to a single key.
The lack of care that BioWare has shown, for PC specific controls, is absolutely blatant when you understand this. They did not even take the time to separate their functions for individual keybindings.
*** I would encourage everyone that won't be playing the game with these controls head to Origins and get a refund. A $60-$70 game sitting on your computer unused is not serving any purpose besides reinforcing BioWares decisions. Get your money back in the meantime while we wait and see if they change it. ***
There is only a limited time you can apply for a refund, so I'd advise you do so with haste.
(Tip: Changing [Last 30 days] to [All] may help in finding your purchase)
If they do actually implement some more responsive controls for 3rd person, PC specific controls with camera/character movement, PC centric tactics controls, and more extensive key bindings options, then I will be the first to re-purchase. However, I can't support this game in the state it is currently in.
I hope this helps others get a little relief back.
P.S. (It has been acknowledged. A good start.
